Virginia, U.S., Marriage Records, 1936-2014

Walter R. Burns
Walter Russell Burns, 93, of Reston, died June 12, 2001. He was born Feb. 12, 1908, in Northport, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Robert Moore Burns and Sarah Woods Harrison Burns.
Mr. Burns moved to the United States in 1926 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, working as a mine sweeper in the Pacific. He was employed as a tool and die worker in the automotive industry in Detroit, Mich.
He moved to Reston 24 years ago on June 16, one day before his granddaughter, Heather E. Burns, was born.
Mr. Burns was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Roseville, Mich., and the St. Andrews Society of Detroit.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Winifred Rosetta Burns; sons Walter C. Burns of Reston and Robert C. Burns of Nixon, Mich.; and daughter Rosemary G. Chartrand of Belle River, Canada. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 23, 2001, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Moorings Drive in Reston, followed by interment at Victoria Memorial in Windsor, Canada.

Joseph O. Hutchison
Joseph O. Hutchison of Herndon died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Inova Cameron Glen Care Center in Reston. He was born April 18, 1921, in Fairfax County to the late Oden Henry and Bessie Lee Jones Hutchison.
He is survived by his wife, Christine, and children Sandra, Joe Jr. "Chip" and Timothy. He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services were held Thursday, July 26, 2001, at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Herndon. Memorials may be made to the St. Timothy's Memorial Fund, 432 Van Buren St., Herndon, Va. 20170.
Arrangements were by Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon.

Myron E. Smith Jr.
Myron E. Smith Jr., executive director of the Dulles Area Transportation Association, died Oct. 16, 2001, at Fair Oak Hospital.
Mr. Smith served as DATA’s executive director from March 1997 until the time of his death. During the past 24 months, Mr. Smith was instrumental in working on alignment and station positioning for the rail to Dulles project, sponsored seminars on the need for the current Route 28 project, worked with Fairfax County to get bus service where it was most needed and with the Loudoun County Transit Association to obtain funding from the counties and from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
He worked with the Federal Transit Administration in previous years to ascertain possible levels of funding for various transit projects that might benefit the members of DATA and their employees. Mr. Smith was behind the reverse commute project-a collaborative effort with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority whose purpose was to get employees from Washington, D.C., out to the suburbs where there was a need.
Mr. Smith always worked tirelessly to fill a need in the community-one that included getting bus service where it was needed, getting employees to job sites, assisting the Air and Space Museum at Dulles with roadways, interchanges and traffic studies. He worked with the management at Dulles Airport to make certain their off-site transportation needs were met and that the economic engine that is Northern Virginia moved as efficiently as possible.
Prior to joining DATA, Mr. Smith was a private consultant and worked with several businesses including Lockheed Martin. In 1986, Mr. Smith retired from the U.S. Navy as a captain assigned to the Civil Engineer Corps. He received many medals and commendations for his outstanding service to the United States during the Vietnam War.
He and his family attended St. Timothy’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Smith, his father, Myron English Smith Sr., daughters Cathy Walters and Stephanie Sturges, son Brian Smith, brother Gregory Smith, sister Sondra Rodarte, and grandchildren Chelsea, Travis, Trenton, Cathryn and Maria.
Friends may visit the Everly Funeral Home at 10565 Main St. in Fairfax on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, Oct. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church at 13807 Poplar Tree Road in Chantilly.
Interment is at Arlington National cemetery at 1 p.m. with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Holdine B. Roginski
Holdine Balcom Roginski of Spotsylvania, Va., died on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, in Sterling. She was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Ames, Iowa, to the late Holdine F. and Robert B. Balcom. Formerly a resident of Herndon and Suitland, Md., she was retired from the Food and Drug Administration. She was a member of the Herndon United Methodist Church and Mary Washington Chapter #50, Order of the Eastern Star, for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Roginski is survived by her husband, Raymond R. Roginski of Spotsylvania; a son, Robert A. Dameron of Spotsylvania; a daughter, Mary Jean Deex of Fredericksburg; and two brothers, the Rev. David A. (E. Jean) Balcom of Arlington, former pastor of Herndon United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Roger C. (Carolyn E.) Balcom of Sterling, former pastor of Galilee United Methodist Church and Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
She was grandmother to Cody, Jason, Shawn, Evan and Danielle Holdine Stanko. Mrs. Roginski was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Montgomery Deex. She is also survived by dear friends Suzi Kohler of Grants Pass, Ore., and Shirley Bird of Suitland, Md., and seven nieces, one nephew and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends between 3 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St. in Herndon, where services will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Va. Memorials may be made to Mary Washington Hospice, 2216 Princess Ann St., Suite 102, Fredericksburg, Va. 22401, or to Hospice of Northern Virginia, 209 Gibson St. N.W., Suite 202, Leesburg, Va. 20176.

Molla W. Zeidberg
Molla Wexler Zeidberg, 95, a 25-year Reston resident and volunteer at the Reston Regional Library, died Nov. 12, 2001.
Mrs. Zeidberg was born in New York City on Nov. 11, 1906, the third of five children of Samuel and Sarali Wexler. She grew up in Spring Valley, Rockland County, N.Y.
She trained as a registered nurse at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and worked as a visiting nurse for the New York City Department of Public Health.
In 1942, she enlisted in the Army Nurses Corps and served in the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital which was posted to North Africa, Sicily, Corsica and southern Italy. She was decorated with the World War II Victory Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
She married Louis David Zeidberg in 1944 and had two children, Zeena and David. The family lived in Franklin and Nashville, Tenn., from 1949 to 1964. She worked as a nurse at Sarah Lawrence College from 1965 to 1969, and at various hospitals in Atlanta, Ga., for several years after that.
In 1976 Mrs. Zeidberg retired and moved to Reston to be near her children and grandchildren. During the past 25 years in Reston, she has been active in various community organizations and senior citizen programs.
Mrs. Zeidberg was predeceased by her husband in 1963. She is survived by her sister, Edith Steinberg of Cleveland, Ohio; her daughter, Zeena Zeidberg of Centreville; her son, David Zeidberg of Pasadena, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Dec. 23, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Road in Oakton.

John C. Fox Sr.
John Cabell Fox Sr. of Potomac Falls died of cancer on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Center in Leesburg.
He was born Oct. 14, 1922, in Bristol, Va., to the late Ervin and Bertha Butler Fox. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Viola Fox, and one son, John C. Fox Jr.
He is survived by his children, Rosemary Moore of Alexandria, Alfred L. Fox of Alexandria, Gary L. Fox of Alexandria, David W. Fox of Middletown, Pauline F. Spenee of Potomac Falls, and Sherry M. Anderson of Leesburg.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Fox was a resident of Chestnut Hills Farms in Lucketts for 27 years.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at 10 a.m. at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, with interment in Union Cemetery in Leesburg.

Marjorie G. Thompson
Marjorie Gillette Thompson, a life-long resident of Herndon, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at her home.
She was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Washington, D.C., to the late Edgar R. and Hilda Peck Gillette. She was preceded in death by a son, Frank Thompson.
She is survived by her daughters, Beth Bleckley and Susie Bruckschen, and five grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, E. Peck Gillette.
Services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, with interment in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northern Virginia, 9300 Lee Highway, fifth floor, Fairfax, Va. 22031, or to the American Cancer Society, 124 Park St. S.E., Vienna, Va. 22180.

Julia Ann H. Harrison
Julia Ann Horn Harrison of Herndon died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Manor Care in Fair Oaks.
She was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Washington, D.C., to the late David and Julia Martin Horn. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Simmons and her husband, Dusty, of Herndon; and two grandchildren, Bonnie and Walter.
Services were held on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, with interment in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1211 Connecticut Ave. N.W., Suite 501, Washington, D.C. 20036.

Voya A. Raykovic
Voya Alexander Raykovic, a resident of the Herndon Harbor House senior community in Herndon, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Manor Care Fair Oaks.
He was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Yugoslavia to the late Alexander and Nevena Nedjalkovich Rajkovich. He is survived by his wife, Diana D. Raykovic, and daughters Nevena Berens and Lola Hopkins, all of Herndon.
He is also survived by one grandchild, Diana Berens.
Services were held on Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, with interment in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

Valerie F. Gibson
Valerie F. Gibson, 45, of Herndon died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002. She was born Sept. 12, 1956, to John Thomas Fisher and Beatrice Bailey Fisher.
A member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Herndon, Mrs. Gibson was a registered nurse employed by Health Cost Consultants.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Gibson Sr.; her daughter, Alayna Gibson of Herndon; two sisters, Grace Clegg and Fannette Fisher of Newburg, N.Y.; mother Sara Wade of Arlington; three step-sons, Allen Gibson of Sterling, Maurice Gibson and Brian Gibson of Herndon; two grandsons, Joshua and Jordan Gibson of Sterling, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at 3:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Herndon, with funeral services following at the church. Interment will be private.
Arrangements were by Lyles Funeral Service of Northern Virginia.

Mamie L. Beaty
Mamie L. Beaty, 69, of Great Falls died May 29, 2002, at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Beaty was born March 14, 1933. She worked at Cracklin' Good Bakery of Valdosta, Ga.
Mrs. Beaty was the daughter of William Drayton and Mary Magdalene Sprangly Drayton. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Rochester Murphy of Great Falls; her son, William Beaty of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren Claude Beaty Murphy of Great Falls and Aries Debra Michelle Beaty of Valdosta, Ga.
She is also survived by her sister, Georgia Jones of Bishopville, S.C., and a host of nieces and nephews in Philadelphia, Penn., and Greenville, S.C.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services were held June 5, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Fellowhip United Church of Christ in Reston. Interment was at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon.
Arrangements were by Lyles Funeral Service of Northern Virginia.

Tim Page
Tim Page, 40, a member of the Loudoun County Planning Commission from the Sterling District since January 2000, died Thursday, May 30 in Morgantown, W. Va.
After graduating from Woodson High School in 1980, Mr. Page went to basic training in the U.S. Army and then administration school at Fort Jackson, general classes at Saint Leo's College in Fort Eustis, and the Department of Defense Interservice Postal School at Fort Benjamin. In addition, he studied at Washington Bible College from 1983 to 1986.
Mr. Page was a member of the 100 per cent club in Re-Max Realtors in Sterling and a member of the NVAR Multimillion Dollar Club. He was elected to serve on the Dulles Area Association of Realtors State Legislative Committee and spent time in Richmond working with state legislators.
In his capacity as planning commissioner, Mr. Page donated more than 2,000 hours of public service. Additionally, he served on the Loudoun County Republican Committee with perfect attendance for three years. He was an announcer at Potomac Falls High School for freshmen, junior varsity and varsity football games, assistant coach of LLLL A-league Rams, a junior high youth group leader at Chantilly Bible Church, and an adult and children's Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Page is survived by his wife of 13 years, Caren, two daughters, Caitlin and Ashley, and a son, Andrew.

Troy L. Davis
Troy Lee Davis, 46, of Manassas died July 23, 2002, at Loudoun Hospital Center. He was employed at Airbus Co. in Ashburn.
Mr. Davis was born Oct. 14, 1955 to Ike Davis and Kallie Ballard Davis. He spend eight years in the U.S. Army and was a member of Heritage Fellowship United Church of Christ in Reston.
He is survived by long-time companion Leslie Ann Perry of Manassas; three children, LaMara Anissia Davis, LaMont Aaron Davis and LaVale Williams Davis; sister Sharon Davis-Mason; niece Samia Hudson; nephew Randall Hudson Jr.' cousin Joy Easley; and godmother LaVora Young, all of Pittsburg, Calif.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, 2002, at noon at Heritage Fellowship United Church of Christ in Reston, with interment in Memory Gardens in Concord, Calif.
Arrangements were by Lyles Funeral Service of Northern Virginia.

Linda Ridinger Smith
Linda Ridinger Smith, 52, of Herndon died Sept. 22, 2002 at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born August 3, 1950 in Radford, Va., to William N. Ridinger and the late Elizabeth Dale Ridinger.
She is survived by her husband, Jody L. Smith of Herndon, and children Adam T. Smith of Blacksburg, Va. and Gregory D. Smith of Herndon.
She is also survived by her father and step-mother, Sandra Ridinger of Christiansburg, Va.; sisters Anne Maroon of Richmond, Jane Ridinger of Matthews, N.C.; step-brother Jay Foster of Roanoke, Va.; and step-sister, Leslie Mitchell of Salem, Va.
Services were held at the Herndon United Methodist Church and Paul's United Methodist Church in Christiansburg with interment in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Linda Ridinger Smith Memorial Fund, c/o Wachovia Bank, 501 Elden St., Herndon, Va. 20170. Attn: Bill Berg.
