James H. Hull

James Harold Hull, 64, of Bealeton, died Dec. 27, 1997, at Fauquier Hospital.
Born May 10, 1933 in Morgantown, W.Va., he was the son of the late Flema and Woodrow Hull.
Mr. Hull was the retired owner/operator of Prince William Trash Service in Manassas. He was a member of the Manassas Assembly of God.
Survivors include: his wife, Gladys E. Hull; three daughters, Sheila A. Jennings of Bealeton, Jean E. Potter of Midland and Carol L. Rotenberry of Manassas; three sons, Jimbo W. Hull and Benjamin H. Hull of Bealeton and Eugene L. Hull of Manassas; two brothers, Donald Hull of Staunton and Leon Hull of Independent Hill; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pastor Charles B. Nestor led a funeral service Dec. 29 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Interment was in Stonewall Memory Gardens.
Eugene F. Gray
Automobile technician
Eugene Francis Gray, 72, died Dec. 27, 1997, at his Nokesville home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1925, a son of the late Mary C. and Charles Cleveland Gray.
Mr. Gray worked as an automobile body shop technician. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Christine Williams Gray; two sons, Eugene F. Gray Jr. of Nokesville and Keith J. Gray of Catlett; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters.
The Rev. Bat Peachy led a funeral service Dec. 30 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton.

Blanche Haislip

Blanche Elizabeth East Haislip, 85, died Dec. 29, 1997, at her home in Vienna.
She was born Feb. 28, 1912, in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Haislip was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Midland.
Survivors include: two sons, Elmer Detwyler Haislip of Midland and Thomas E. Haislip of Sterling; three daughters, Barbara Jean Hueske of Vienna, Elizabeth A. Gardner of Birmingham, Ala., and Peggy J. Collins of Sterling; a sister, Cornelia Foscato of Warrenton; 18 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Haislip.
The Rev. Peyton Embrey will lead a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Midland. Interment will take place in the church cemetery.

Delila Frances Noland

Delila Frances Noland, 87, of Warrenton, died Dec. 27, 1997, at Fauquier Hospital.
She was born July 28, 1910, in Loudoun County, a daughter of the late Jeannete and George Irving Kines.
Mrs. Noland was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Warrenton, where she was a past member of the St. John Women's Club. She was for 50 years a member of the Auxiliary of American Legion Post 72 in Warrenton and a longtime Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary volunteer.
Survivors include: a daughter, Janet N. Shannon of Warrenton; a brother, James R. Kines of Warrenton; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen Noland.

Paul McDonough
U.S. Navy veteran
Paul Linwood McDonough, 83, died Dec. 26, 1997, at his home in The Plains.
Born Feb. 23, 1914 in Alexandria, he was a son of the late Laura Cornelia and Joseph Leven McDonough.
Mr. McDonough worked from 1938 to 1976 as an agent with Home Beneficial Life Insurance Co. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Vivian W. McDonough; a daughter, Barbara Halliwell of Annapolis, Md.; two sons, Robert McDonough of Warrenton and Raymond McDonough of Chantilly; three sisters, Mary Jenkins of Alexandria, Mae Poppen of Arlington and Anna Anderson of Franconia; two brothers, Harry McDonough and George McDonough, both of Deland, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
The Rev. John Riley led a memorial mass Dec. 30 at St. John Catholic Church in Warrenton. Interment was in Culpeper National Cemetery.

Dalton Gibbs Sr.

Dalton Joseph Gibbs Sr., 77, of Orlean, died Feb. 6, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Gibbs was born June 3, 1921. He was a deacon at Mount Morris Baptist Church in Hume.
He is survived by a son, the Rev. Dr. William H. Gibbs of Front Royal; three daughters, Shirley Gibbs and Alma Gibbs, both of Marshall, and Juanita Champ of Warrenton; a brother, the Rev. Thomas Gibbs of Front Royal; two sisters, Annie Rhodes of Fairfax and Martha Green of Hume; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pastor Lindsay Green and the Rev. Dr. William Gibbs led a funeral service Feb. 11 at Mount Morris Baptist Church in Hume. Interment was in the Mount Morris Community Cemetery in Hume.
Mary Embrey

Mary E. Embrey, 85, of Catlett, died Feb. 3, 1998, at the Birmingham Green Nursing Home in Manassas.
Mrs. Embrey was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Midland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil E. Embrey, her parents, George W. and Mary Susan Shackelford Embrey, two brothers, Earl M. and Frank S. Embrey, and a sister, Nancy L. Ripley.
She is survived by a son, Howard M. Embrey of Sumerduck; two daughters, Margie L. Heflin of Catlett and Linda Hays of Spotsylvania; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service took place Feb. 7 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery.

Evelyn Martz

Evelyn Thatcher Martz, 77, of Warrenton, died Feb. 5, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Martz was born in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 19, 1920, the daughter of the late James W. Thatcher Sr. and Edith Amanda Thatcher. She retired in 1990 as the office manager of the Local 689 Bus Drivers Union. She was a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Hope Chapter 30 in Washington, D.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Francis Martz.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Patricia Martz of Bealeton; a son, Michael Dennis Martz of Upper Marlboro, Md.; two sisters, Emily Furmage and Esther Wolfe; two brothers, Henry Thatcher and Huch Thatcher; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service took place Feb. 9 at Moser Chapel in Warrenton. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Md.

Arthur Martin Jr.

Arthur "Chief" E. Martin Jr., 58, of Warrenton died Feb. 5, 1998.
Mr. Martin was born Feb. 28, 1939.
He is survived by two brothers, Samuel C. Martin of Midland and George Harris of Warrenton.
The Rev. James Brown will lead a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Joynes Funeral Home in Warrenton. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Interment will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Midland.
