Velma Caylor Cooper, 77, of Middleburg, died April 22, 1998, at Fairfax Hospital.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by her husband, Jack Cooper; two daughters, Joyce Weeks of The Plains, and June Curtis of Brandon, Fla.; three sisters, May Lee and Betty Sylvia, both of The Plains, and Doris Haymaker of Charlestown, W.Va.; two brothers, Eugene Caylor of Berryville and Billy Caylor of Dale City; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Tom Keithley led a graveside service April 25 at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Upperville.

Clifford Ball
Culpeper resident
Clifford Patton Ball, 69, of Culpeper died April 26, 1998, at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Ball was born in Fauquier County on May 4, 1928, the son of the late Bertie Lee Taylor Ball and Freddie William Ball.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Annabelle Brooks Ball; a daughter, Joyce M. Bache of Culpeper; a stepson, Roger Lee Newton of Leon; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pastor David Swieringa led a funeral service April 29 at Found and Sons Chapel in Culpeper. Interment was in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Angus Myers
Farmer
Angus James Myers, 82, of Warrenton died April 27, 1998, at Jacque's Adult Day Care in Warrenton.
Mr. Myers was born in Rappahannock County on Nov. 11, 1915, the son of the late Aubrey Braxton Myers and Susie Julia Priest Myers. He had been a farmer all his life, having received an American Farmer's Degree in Kansas City, Mo. In the early 1940s he received an award for being the first to grow 100 bushels of corn per acre of land.
Mr. Myers was a 50-year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge Charity Lodge 27 in Warrenton and a longtime member of the Electa Rebekah Lodge in Warrenton.
He is survived by a sister, Emma Myers of Warrenton; a brother, Archie B. Myers of Warrenton, and a close family friend, Elva G. Grove of Somerville.
The Rev. J. Richard Winter will lead a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at Warrenton Cemetery.

Mary Virginia Rector, 74, of Midland, died April 25, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Rector was born on May 13, 1923.
She is survived by four daughters, Fannie Rector of Midland, Eleanore "Mickey" Ferguson of Warrenton, Harriet Franklin of Culpeper and Marlene Stribling of Manassas; a son, Charles E. Rector of Jeffersonton; a brother, John N. Craig of Midland; a sister, Hallie Greene of Warrenton; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at St. John Baptist Church in Midland. The Rev. Richard Gardy will lead a funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, at the church. Interment will be in the Craig Family Cemetery in Midland.

Charles Edward French, 82, of Warrenton, died April 25, 1998, at his home.
Mr. French was born Dec. 21, 1916. He worked as a groomsman.
He is survived by three sons, Willie Washington of West Virginia, Tracy French and Marc French, both of Warrenton; three sisters, Lucy Lewis, Dorothy Carter and Helena Smith, all of Warrenton; two brothers, James French and Henry French, both of Warrenton, and two grandchildren.
The Rev. Marvin Jackson will lead a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at First Springs Baptist Church in Warrenton. Visitation will take place at 10 a.m. before the service. Interment will be in Culpeper National Cemetery.
Kathleen McCarthy

Kathleen Elizabeth "Kate" McCarthy, 16, of Amissville and Salisbury, Md., died April 19, 1998, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Culpeper County.
Miss McCarthy was born in Salisbury, Md. A senior at Seton School in Front Royal, she was a student in Wicomico (Md.) County Schools in Maryland until 10th grade. She also attended Fauquier High School. She was employed at Yen Cheng Restaurant in Warrenton.
She was an avid horse lover and rider and leaves behind her Appaloosa best-friend Jeb and her dog Lance.
She is survived by her parents, William and MaryJo Miasek of Amissville, and Tom and Terry McCarthy of Tyaskin, Md.; a brother, Joseph T. McCarthy of Salisbury, Md.; her grandparents, John and Bertha Aydelotte of Parsonsburg, Md., Joe and Francis McCarthy of Baltimore, and Betty Miasek of Baltimore.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury, Md., where the Rev. Norman Hancock will lead a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury, Md.

Stanley E. Lambert, 40, of The Plains died April 16, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Lambert was born in Manassas on July 2, 1957. He worked as a handyman.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie Lambert of Alexandria; his parents, Stanley Lee Lambert and Lucille Jennings Lambert, and three sons: Tyrone, Eric and Jermaine Lambert, all of The Plains; three sisters, Irene McKinney, Mary Booker and Geraldine Chichester, all of The Plains; three brothers, Leroy Jennings of Manassas, William Lambert of Centreville and Samuel Lambert of The Plains; and his paternal grandmother, Florence Ann Lambert of Warrenton.
The Rev. Decker Tapscott led a funeral service April 21 at Faith Christian Church in Warrenton. Interment was in Beulah Baptist Cemetery in Pilgrim's Rest.
Helen Duvall

Helen Dorothy Fisher Duvall, 83, of Bealeton, died April 20, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Duvall was born in Wytheville on March 1, 1915, the daughter of the late John and Mary Alice Fisher. She was a member of Resurrection Baptist Church and a Sunshine Lady for the Remington Senior Center and FEC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Preston Duvall.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice E. Arthur of Bealeton; two sons, James Alton Duvall of Manassas and Carroll T. Duvall of Bealeton; 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Charles Webb will lead a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Mary Freston

Mary Sanford Freston, 76, of John's Island, Fla., died March 6, 1998, at Indian River Hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Freston was born in Mount Kisco, N.Y., on May 17, 1921, and moved to Vero Beach, Fla., in 1972 from Warrenton. She was a member of the Warrenton Hunt and was a six-time winner of the ladies' golf championship at Fauquier Springs Country Club.
Mrs. Freston was a member of the Indian River Cremation Society in Florida.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverley Winslow Harrison of Vero Beach and Anne Page Pragoff of Chadds Ford, Pa.; a son, Edward Tucker Harrison III of New Canaan, Conn.; two stepsons, Thomas Freston and William Freston, both of New York City; a sister, Beverley Sanford McConnell of Middleburg, and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service and interment took place at John's Island Cemetery.

Helen Wean Wilson, 88, of Catlett, died April 19, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Timberville on March 3, 1910, the daughter of the late Lee Roy Wean and Josie Wean. She was a retired teacher for Fauquier County Public Schools. She was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Catlett and the Cedar Run Garden Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara W. Crumpton of Midlothian; a grandchild, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Wilson.
The Rev. William F. McMahan will lead a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Catlett. Interment will be in Catlett Cemetery.
