Lula Ramsdell

Lula Hazel Ramsdell, 76, of Warrenton died April 15, 1999, at her home.
Mrs. Ramsdell was born in Ohio on March 15, 1923, the daughter of the late Perry and Pearl Royer. She was a longtime member of the Warrenton United Methodist Church and was active in the music of the church as an organist. She helped with the handbells and directed two handbell choirs. She also gave private music lessons to many local music students.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy Ramsdell of Warrenton; a son, Robert Fuller, a daughter, Marylou Cook, and a granddaughter, all of California.
The Rev. John Chadsey will lead a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at Warrenton United Methodist Church.

Dorothy Shipe Roland, 75, of Catlett, died April 19, 1999.
Mrs. Roland was born in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 30, 1923, the daughter of the late Harry Phillips and Mary Daly Buchanan. She attended Agape Christian Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward F. Shipe, her son Edward F. Shipe Jr.; a daughter, Shirley Tyler; a brother, Richard Buchanan, and a sister, Esther Phillips.
She is survived by her husband, Allen A. Roland; two daughters, Kay Leebrick of Amherst County and Jean Armentrout of Lowesville; five sons: Amos Lee Shipe Sr. and Steve Shipe, both of Midland, Walter Terry Shipe of Catlett, Glen Shipe of Midland and Donald Shipe of Haymarket; three sisters: Margaret Jetton of Florida, Louise Veal and Pauline Scott of Alabama; three brothers: Albert Buchanan of Georgia, William Buchanan and Johnny Buchanan, both of Alabama; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pastor Freddie Meadows, Pastor Denver Keele and the Rev. Peyton Embrey will lead a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Charles Williams Jr.
Auto body repairman
Charles Henry Williams Jr., 73, of Republic, Mo., died April 15, 1999.
Mr. Williams was born in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 20, 1926, the son of the late Charles Henry Williams and Lacie May Williams. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he became a mechanic for Metrobus and later worked for C&P telephone. He also owned and operated his own auto body repair shop in Herndon between 1960 and 1980. Mr. Williams finished his career as an insurance adjuster for Liberty Mutual Insurance.
He was a member of the Leesburg Moose Lodge 1041 and the Purcellville American Legion Post 293.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hawkins Williams of Republic, Mo.; a son, C. David Williams of Purcellville; a daughter, Chris Fender of Fayetteville, Georgia; a sister, Joyce Walker of Edinburg; and a brother, Norman Franklin Williams of Catlett.
The Rev. J. Richard Winter led a graveside service April 20 at Culpeper National Cemetery.

Stanley Lowell Baker, 28, of Calverton died April 17, 1999, at Prince William Hospital.
Mr. Baker was born in Maryland on Dec. 22, 1970. He was a tow truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Baker of Calverton; his parents, Paul Leonard Baker and Kathy Baker of Sumerduck; a son, Morgan Baker and a daughter, Grace Baker, both of Calverton; two sisters, Lynn Maginniss of Bealeton and Kimberly Baker of Warrenton; and three brothers: Michael Baker of Sterling, Bobby Baker of Sumerduck and Paul L. Baker Jr. of Bealeton.
The Rev. Joe Anderson led a funeral service April 21 at Moser Funeral Home. Interment was in Mount Holly Cemetery.

Grace Ellen Anderson, 91, of Boston, Va., died April 15, 1999, at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Tazewell County on Aug. 11, 1907, the daughter of the late Henry Brown Mabe and Evelyn Lawson Mabe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Anderson.
She is survived by four sons: Henry Kemper Anderson of Wilbur City, Frank B.D. Anderson of Gainesville, Fla., James Samuel Anderson of Haymarket, and Ross J. Anderson of Front Royal; seven daughters: Emily B. Bentley of Leesburg, Annie L. Sparks of Culpeper, G. Ellen Anderson of Fredericksburg, Shirley Jenkins of Boston, Va., Nellie Rose Chadwell of Blairsville, Georgia, Nora Elizabeth Welch of Winchester and Margaret Leach of Englewood, Fla.; a brother, Reese Mabe of Upper Marlboro, Md.; 46 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. William Smith led funeral service April 19 at Moser Chapel in Warrenton. Interment was in Little Georgetown Cemetery in Broad Run.

Norval Ramey Jr.

Norval Jackson "Rip" Ramey Jr., 70, formerly of Warrenton, died of a stroke, April 1, 1998, in Lakeland Regional Memorial Hospital in Lakeland, Fla.
Born April 21, 1927, Mr. Ramey served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He earned a bachelor of science degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., and received his master's of education from the University of Virginia. He was an educator in Fairfax and Arlington counties, and retired after serving as an instructor in math, physical education, drivers education and industrial cooperative training. He also served as a guidance counselor and coached football, basketball, soccer and volleyball.
Mr. Ramey was a member of the VFW, AM Vets, American Legion, the Warrenton Baptist Church and Phi Delta Kappa. He was a past member of the Masons and the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norval and Grace Ramey of Warrenton, and two sisters, Shirley R. Bacon of Charleston, S.C., and Anita R. Thornton of Gloucester.
He is survived by his former wife, Holly Updike Ramey of Reston; two sons, Timothy S. Ramey of Jacksonville, Fla., and Christopher J. Ramey of Clifton; a sister, Alberta R. Costello of Warrenton; two grandsons, and a devoted friend, Barbara Craig.
The Rev. John Julcher and the Rev. Richard Winter will lead a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Bethel United Methodist Church near Warrenton.
Monica Chase

Monica Ann Chase, 73, of Warrenton died April 9, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Chase was born in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 29, 1924, the daughter of the late John Duffy Allen and Mabel Catherine Dodd Allen. She worked for the Department of Justice and the National Education Association. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Newell Chase.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann Burner of Pacentia, Calif.; a son, Christopher A. Chase of Warrenton; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service took place April 15 at National Memorial Park in Falls Church.
Robin LeTard

Robin Digwood LeTard, 39, of Marshall died on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1998, after a long illness.
Mrs. LeTard was born in Perth, Western Australia, on June 19, 1958, the daughter of Shirley and Ken Digwood, a doctor and his wife, and the third of their four children. She attended the University of Western Australia and came to the United States in 1979 when she was 21.
She married Brian LeTard of Covington, La., with whom she had three children. The family moved to the Delaplane-Marshall area in 1986. The marriage ended in divorce in 1992.
Mrs. LeTard was active in the community as a member of the board of the Marshall Business and Residents Association, and as a supporter of the preservation of No. 18 Schoolhouse near Marshall, now the site of the Master Gardeners program and constructed wetlands. Most recently she was one of the organizers of the purchase for preservation of the Old Stone Academy, the oldest building in Marshall, built in 1771 as the first Baptist Church in Virginia.
She was active in the parent-teachers association of Wakefield School in The Plains, and she worked as the property manager for George Thompson in Marshall. Mrs. LeTard was a devoted churchwoman and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Delaplane, where she sang in the choir and served as lector and chalice bearer.
She is survived by two daughters, Kelly and Mandy LeTard, and a son, Beau LeTard; her good friend Jim O'Neill of Warrenton; her parents, Shirley and Ken Digwood of Perth, Western Australia; two sisters, Kathy Digwood and Jill Drinkwater, and a brother, Ian Digwood, all of Western Australia.
The Rev. Daniel D. Robayo will lead a funeral service at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Delaplane. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Robert Leverknight Jr.

Robert Ira Leverknight Jr., 40, of Warrenton died April 8, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mr. Leverknight was born in Johnstown, Pa., on Oct. 15, 1957, the son of the late Robert Ira Leverknight Sr. and Jessie Jones Leverknight. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked as a cabinetmaker at Accent Millwork. He was a youth football coach and a girls softball coach.
He is survived by his wife, Georgeanne Leverknight of Warrenton; three step-daughters, Annlouise Domonkos and Christy Buchanan, both of Warrenton, and Sherice Dufford of Bealeton; five sisters, Janet Blanton, Sandy Gilman and Anita Hoak-Keagey, all of Seattle, Carrol Meadows of Hinton, W.Va., and Kim Weaver of Germantown, Md.; and four brothers, David Leverknight of Johnstown, Pa., Russell Leverknight of Kearney, Mo., William Leverknight of Bealeton and Brian Leverknight of Remington.
Pastor Karl Skinner led a funeral service April 11 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Interment was in Richland Cemetery in Johnstown, Pa.
