Earl Lee Nelson, 73, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Marshall, died May 7, 1998, at Providence Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Mr. Nelson was born July 18, 1924. He was a retired clerk for the federal government.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Nelson of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Myra Wright of Lanham, Md.; three sisters: Sylvia Nelson of Hyattsville, Md., Joyce Urby of Washington, D.C., and Lillian Walker of Warrenton; four brothers: Clyde Nelson of Washington, D.C., Lynere Nelson of Amissville, Eugene Nelson of Marshall and Azell Nelson of Durham, N.C.
The Rev. Lawrence Johnson will lead a funeral service at noon Friday, May 15, at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 1615 3rd St., NW, Washington, D.C. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment will be in the Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Md.
Hilda Cherry

Hilda M. Cherry, 77, of Warrenton died May 7, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. Cherry was born May 20, 1920. She was a retired child caretaker.
She is survived by two sons, Harold E. Cherry of Warrenton and Leon Cherry of New York, N.Y.; a brother, William McGruder of New York, N.Y.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pastor Ricardo White led a funeral service May 11 at Joynes Funeral Home in Warrenton. Interment was in Warrenton Cemetery.
Karla Vogt

Karla Ann Vogt, 44, of York, Pa., died May 5, 1998, at her home.
Miss Vogt was born on Sept. 1, 1953, the daughter of the late Victor F. Vogt Jr. and Nina B. Russell Vogt of Parkville, Md.
She is survived by her mother, and two brothers, John Vogt of Parkton, Md., and James Vogt of Centreville.

Allen Gragg
Builder
Allen Ronda Gragg, 99, of Warrenton died May 9, 1998, at Blue Ridge Christian Home in Bealeton.
Mr. Gragg was born in Boone, N.C., on April 17, 1899, the son of the late George Washington Gragg and Addie Brown Gragg. He was a home builder. He had been a very active member for more than 72 years and a deacon at the University Baptist Church in Hyattsville, Md. After moving to Warrenton he became a member of the Warrenton Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge AF & AM.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Marie Gragg.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Payne of Warrenton, and Phyllis McNamee of Hyattsville, Md.; a sister, Verna Glenn of Phoenix; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Sam P. Jones led a graveside service May 12 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Md.

Dorothy Woodson, 54, of King George, died June 25, 1998, at Heritage Hall in King George.
Mrs. Woodson was a former resident of Marshall and Middleburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise Carter and Laura Ann Warner, both of Middleburg; two foster daughters, Sandra Grayson of Ranson, W.Va., and Pamela Wise of Warrenton; two foster sons, Carl Warner of Middleburg and Harry Warner III of The Plains; a sister, Alberta King of Broad Run; three brothers, Robert Woodson of Middleburg, Franklin Woodson of The Plains and Milton Woodson of Leesburg; six grandchildren, and 14 foster grandchildren.
The Rev. Theodore Haley led a funeral service at Royston Funeral Home in Middleburg. Interment was in Solon Cemetery.
Vernon Leake

Vernon Charles Leake, 65, of Warrenton, died June 25, 1998, at Prince Georges Hospital.
Mr. Leake was born in Remington on May 8, 1933, a son of the late George and O'dessa Mae Leake. He served 17 years in the U.S. Air Force. He had retired as a maintenance worker for the Fauquier County Health Department and Atlantic Research.
He is survived by his brother, Clarence Leake of Hartwood.

Helen Ash Falls, of Warrenton, died June 26, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Born in Baltimore, Mrs. Falls was a daughter of the late Gerald and Mildred Ash. She owned and operated a boarding kennel at her home for more than 30 years. She was active with the Ashland Bassets. She attended the Virginia Anderson Circle at Warrenton United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Ash. She is survived by her husband, Bernard E. Falls of Warrenton, and a sister, Mary Hildebrand of Inverness, Fla.
The Rev. Barbara J. Minter led a graveside service July 1 at Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

David Michael Swann, 45, of Midland, died June 27, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Swann was born in Arlington on Aug. 30, 1952, a son of the late Joseph Francis Swann and Ruth Swann. He was a self-employed electrician. He was a member of the Manassas Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 10 in Manassas and the Eagles Aerie in Manassas.
He is survived by his wife, Linda McDowell Swann of Midland; two sons, Jeffrey Swann of Manassas and William Swann of Midland; a daughter, Amie Swann of Midland; a stepson, Christopher Major of Morristown, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Leah Morgan of Fairfax, and six grandchildren.

James Winson Sayre, 93, of Warrenton, died June 27, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Sayre was born in Letart, W.Va. on Feb. 6, 1905, a son of the late Harvey Winson Sayre and Ida Kate Sayre. He was a salesman.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ruth Verts of Warrenton; a sister, Eileen Kelley of Marietta, Georgia; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

George Thayer Sr.

George William Thayer Sr., 90, of Remington, died June 25, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mr. Thayer was born June 11, 1908, in Culpeper County, a son of the late James William Thayer and Ida Cornwell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hackley Thayer, and a granddaughter, Karen Thayer.
He is survived by a son, George William Thayer of Rixeyville; two daughters, Mary Ann Hunt of Haymarket and Marion Sirk of Nokesville; three sisters: Phoebe Eden of Culpeper, Vivian Gunnell of Grand Ledge, Mich., and Virginia McConchie of Remington, and a grandson.
