Edna Lee Harrington, 76, of Front Royal, died Aug. 22, 1998.
Mrs. Harrington was born Oct. 16, 1921, the daughter of the late Asis and Mary Welch Spinks. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Harrington.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Foster of Gaithersburg, Md.; three sons: Allen Harrington of Front Royal, Thomas Harrington of Winchester and Michael Spinks of Marshall; a sister, Polly Marcum of Bealeton; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Jack Wampler led a funeral service Aug. 25 at Royston Funeral Home in Middleburg. Interment was in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Upperville.

Calvin Showalter

Calvin Fairfax Showalter, 73, of Marshall, died Aug. 16, 1998, in Warrenton.
Mr. Showalter was born in Oakton on Aug. 12, 1925, a son of the late William E. and Katherine Wagner. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He worked as an engineer of avionics software with the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Joe Showalter of Marshall; a daughter, Nancy J. Showalter of Manassas; a son, Warren L. Showalter of Marshall; a sister, Virginia S. Simmons of Ripplemead; two grandchildren; a step-granddaughter, and a great-grandson.
The Rev. Jesse Robertson led a funeral service Aug. 18 at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, where Mr. Showalter was entombed.

Wayne Barry Smith, 37, of Bealeton, died Aug. 14, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Smith was born in Arlington on Dec. 1, 1960. He worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation for seven years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary F. Smith of Bealeton; his parents, Robert G. Smith Sr. and Barbara M. Smith of Midland; a daughter, Ariel Smith of Bealeton; a brother, Robert C. Smith Jr. of Warrenton, and a sister, Bonnie C. Meadows of Bealeton.
The Rev. Donald Maranville led a funeral service Aug. 18 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. Interment was in Bright View Cemetery near Warrenton.

Eugene Reed

Eugene Winston Reed, 75, of Amissville, died Aug. 15, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Reed was born in Blacksburg on April 24, 1923, the son of the late Charles E. and Lottie Reed. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as an Army private from 1944 to 1948. He worked as a carpenter. He was a member of Trough Hill Baptist Church and a life member of American Legion Post 141 in Richmond.
He is survived by his wife, Violet E. Reed of Amissville; a daughter, Linda Reed Jolley of Fort Lee; two sons, Winston A. Reed of Indianapolis, and Mark Reed of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Doris Martin of Springfield, Mass., and Elizabeth Reed of New York, N.Y., and four grandchildren.
The Rev. Lindsay O. Green led a graveside service Aug. 19 at Crest Hill Cemetery in Orlean.

Hattie Jenkins

Hattie Louise Jenkins, 65, of Midland, died Aug. 16, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Jenkins was born in Virginia on Sept. 11, 1932, the daughter of the late Malcom C. Weaver and Nellie Weaver. She served as a missionary of the Church of God in the Holy Ghost for more than 30 years.
She is survived by eight sons: John Jenkins and Carson Jenkins, both of Manassas, Jay Jenkins of Culpeper, Ronald Jenkins, Jerry Jenkins and Glenn Jenkins, all of Midland, Ricky Jenkins of Remington, and Cary Jenkins of Bealeton; three daughters: Elaine Foster of Woodbridge, Amy Jenkins of Manassas and Kim Johnson of Bealeton; five brothers: Malcolm Weaver and Roger Weaver, both of Silver Spring, Md., Edward Weaver, Carlos Weaver and Ray Weaver, all of Washington, D.C.; 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Overseer B. Clark will lead a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Midland. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Lucille Frerotte

Lucille Rodgers Frerotte, 79, of Marshall, died Aug. 17, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Frerotte was born in Reidsville, N.C., on Dec. 30, 1918, the daughter of the late James Starling Rodgers and Mary Catherine Rodgers. She and her husband have lived in Charleston, W.Va., and McLean. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert G. Frerotte, on Dec. 24, 1974. Mrs. Frerotte later built a home near Marshall.
She was a member of St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Middleburg. She served as a volunteer for Hospice Support of Fauquier, and the Marshall Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary.
She is survived by four sons: Albert G. Frerotte Jr. of Harrisburg, Pa., Jim Frerotte of Ashville, N.C., John Frerotte of Arlington and Tom Frerotte of Marshall; two daughters, Catherine Frerotte of Charleston, W.Va., and Robin Winstead of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister, Leesel R. Mace of Reidsville. N.C.; a brother, James S. Rodgers of Reidsville, N.C.; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
The Rev. James Muldowney led a Mass of Christian Burial on Aug. 19 at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church in Middleburg.

William Jacob Nenner, 99, of Jeffersonton, died Aug. 17, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Nenner was born in Philadelphia on Aug. 6, 1899, the son of the late Jacob Nenner and Magdalena Schumann. He was a retired executive of Penn Mutual Life Insurance Co. He was a member of the Society of Friends, a former member of the Fauquier Springs County Club and an honorary member of the Jeffersonton Ruritan Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Bowen Nenner of Jeffersonton; a daughter, Sally N. Neville of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and two grandchildren.
The Rev. John J. Desaulniers led a graveside service Aug. 19 at Jeffersonton Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Thelma Schwab Sturtridge, 74, of Warrenton died Aug. 9,1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Sturtridge was born in Conde on Sept. 2, 1923, the daughter of Pearl Schwab and the late Seth Schwab. She was a retired bookkeeper for an insurance company and for the former Gill Implement Company of Warrenton. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Warrenton. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Davidson Sturtridge.
She is survived by her mother, Pearl Schwab of Warrenton; a daughter, Patricia S. French of Gordonsville; a sister, Hazel S. Attkisson of Alexandria; a brother, Ernest Curtis Schwab of Warrenton; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
The Rev. Michael Bazan led a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Warrenton. Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk.

Annie Kines O'Bannon, 94, of Hume died Aug. 11, 1998, at Marshall Manor.
Mrs. O'Bannon was born in Hume on May 21, 1904, the daughter of the late James William Kines and Orra Virginia Kines. She retired in 1970 from The Fauquier Bank in Warrenton, after 45 years of service as a bookkeeper and teller.
She was a member of the Hume Baptist Church and a volunteer for the Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary, working as a Pink Lady and in The Thrift Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude A. O'Bannon.
The Rev. Bill Hinton will lead a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Hume Baptist Church. Interment will be in Leeds Cemetery.

Mrs. Parks is survived by her husband, Walter Parks; two sons, Lee Roy Bettis of Middleburg, and Alfred "Puddin" Lloyd of Manassas; a sister, Rachel Robertson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; seven stepchildren: Shelby Harrison of Reston, Freida Soaper of Marshall, Carol Furr of Round Hill, Carl Parks of Luray, Douglas Parks of Memphis, Tenn., Regina Cassell of Amissville, and Valerie Brown of Middleburg; seven grandchildren and 17 step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
Pastor Clayton Hounshell led a funeral service Aug. 12 at Royston Funeral Home in Middleburg. Interment was in Middleburg Memorial Cemetery.
