Dorothy Marie Piurkowsky, 80, of Warrenton died Oct. 30, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Piurkowsky was born in Virginia on Aug. 31, 1918, a daughter of the late Henry Poe and Eliza Poe. She was a member of Hume Baptist Church . She was the widow of John Paul Piurkowsky.
She is survived by two sons, John L. Piurkowsky of Charleston, S.C., and James H. Piurkowsky of Hume, and two sisters, Irene Cameron and Julia Royston, both of Alexandria.
The Rev. Bill Hinton led a funeral service Nov. 2 at Hume Baptist Church. Interment was in Leeds Cemetery in Hume.

Frances McConchie

Frances Love McConchie, 81, of Sumerduck died Nov. 2, 1998, at her home.
Mrs. McConchie was born in Richardsville on Aug. 30, 1917, the daughter of the late William Love and Fannie Mae White. She was a member of Mount Holly Baptist Church, where she worked as the clerk for more than 40 years. She also was an active member of the Ruralettes of Sumerduck. She was the widow of Clyde H. McConchie.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary L. Edwards and Edna Louise Cornwell.
She is survived by two daughters, Thelma D. Robson of Jeffersonton and Pamela M. Rector of Fredericksburg; a brother, John L. Love of Warrenton; two sisters, Virginia L. Love of Blue Ridge Christian Home in Bealeton and Betty Hancock of Elizabethton, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
The Rev. Harold Parker and the Rev. Dave Swieringa will lead a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Mount Holly Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Phyllis Rose Anderson, 79, of Livingston, Mont., died Oct. 21, 1998.
Mrs. Anderson was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and moved to Central Florida in 1994. She was self-employed in the restaurant business. She was a member of the Catholic church.
She is survived by two sons: Richard J. "Rick" Anderson Jr., of Jackson, Wyo., and Roger J. Anderson of Bozeman, Mont.; a daughter, Jacqueline Fitzgerald of Warrenton; two brothers, Umbert "Bert" DiGiacomo of Kissimmee, Fla., and William DiGiacomo of Calabash, N.C.; a sister, Eleanor DiGiacomo of Kissimmee, Fla., and two grandchildren.
Douglas Leach
The Plains farmer
Douglas Welby Leach, 84, of The Plains died Nov. 1, 1998, in INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church.
Mr. Leach was born in Fauquier County on April 6, 1914, a son of the late Ashby and Nancy Moore Leach. He was a farmer in Fauquier and Prince William counties.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Leach; two daughters, Barbara A. Penwell and Julie E. Simpson both of The Plains; four sons: Roger M. Leach of Pensacola, Fla., David G. Leach of Marshall, Samuel V. Leach and Russell W. Leach, both of Middleburg; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Herbert Leach and the Rev. Dr. Vinton Williams will lead a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Royston Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment will be in Marshall Cemetery.

James Rust III
Marine veteran
Maj. James Lancelot Rust III, 54, of Alexandria, La., died Oct. 28, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Rust was born in Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio, on Sept. 23, 1944, the son of James L. Rust Jr. and Earlena Morris Rust. He received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Buffalo State University, Buffalo, N.Y. He was retired from the U.S. Marines, and served in Vietnam. He served primarily as a safety officer/training officer and navigator-bombardier in the A6 Intruder attack aircraft.
After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1989, Mr. Rust accepted a job as the Marine ROTC instructor at a high school in Alexandria, La., where he was employed until his death.
He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and also an active and retired member of the Military Pilots Association. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alexandria and a former member of Culpeper Baptist Church. He was an ordained deacon and had worked with youth in the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Rust Jr.
He is survived by his mother; his wife, Mona Rust of Alexandria; a daughter, Angela Rust, and stepdaughter, Jaime H. Kirk, both of Alexandria; a son, James Lancelot "Lance" Rust IV of Centreville; a stepson, Robert H. Kirk of Union, W.Va.; three brothers: Robert E. Rust of Seminole, Fla., Thomas N. Rust of Pensacola, Fla., and David B. Rust of Auburn, Ind.; two sisters, Virginia "Bunny" Kinzer of Culpeper, and Laura L. Roll of Buffalo, N.Y.
The Rev. Red W. Fuson led a funeral service Nov. 2 at Culpeper Baptist Church. Interment with full military honors was in Culpeper National Cemetery.

Alvin Embrey

Alvin Alexander Embrey, 92, of Sumerduck died Oct. 25, 1998, in Fairfax County.
Mr. Embrey was one of seven children of Aldridge and Martha Catherine "Kate" Embrey. As a carpenter, he worked for many years in the metropolitan Washington area. He lived in Fairfax and Prince William counties, as well as his native Fauquier.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Smith Embrey in 1986, and his second wife (and sister-in-law) Bernice Peters Embrey, in 1997.
He is survived by a son, Harold Embrey of Alexandria; a daughter, Dorothy E. Newman of Manassas; a brother, Keith Embrey of Falmouth; three stepchildren: Alton Embrey of Bon Air, Ruth Beach of Catlett and Charles Embrey of Sumerduck; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Harold Parker, the Rev. Michael Bradley and the Rev. David Swieringa will lead a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Mount Holly Baptist Church near Sumerduck. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Charles Wine

Charles W. Wine, 84, of Marshall died Oct. 19, 1998, in Marshall Manor Care Center.
Mr. Wine was born July 10, 1914, a son of the late Edward E. and Irene Davis Wine. He was an electrician and worked with his brothers until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy C. Wine; three sons: C. Douglas Wine of Bridgewater, Carlton R. Wine of Winchester and J. Michael Wine of Warrenton; a brother, E.E. Wine of Manassas; and four grandsons.
The Rev. Dr. Richard W. Reifsnyder led a funeral service Oct. 23 at Marshall United Methodist Church. Interment was in Marshall Cemetery.

Ella Jane Cyrtmus, 88, of Richville, Minn., died Oct. 25, 1998, at Fauquier Hospital.
Mrs. Cyrtmus was born in Richville, Minn., on Jan. 22, 1910, a daughter of the late George and Tillie Donaldson Kidder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis E. Cyrtmus.
She is survived by a son, Cyrt Cyrtmus of Marshall; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Arthur Rajanayakam led a memorial service Oct. 28 at Marshall United Methodist Church.

Roberta Craun

Roberta Frances Craun, 76, of Annandale died Oct. 26, 1998, at INOVA Alexandria Hospital.
Mrs. Craun was born in Fauquier County on Aug. 29, 1922, the daughter of the late James Clifton Kerns and Nellie Frances Kerns. She worked as a cashier at a pharmacy until she was 75 years old. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert "Pete" Kerns and John B. Kerns.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Edmonds.
Pastor Gary Smith will lead a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at North Stafford Baptist Church. Interment will be in Marshall Cemetery.
