Rev. Carless Eugene Dye, age 75, of 786 Big Creek Road, Richlands, Virginia, passed away Friday, March 28, 2003 at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Swords Creek, Virginia and was the son of the late Adolphus Morgan and Mary Belle Ball Dye.
He had made his home in the Richlands area all of his life and was a former coal miner and minister. He was a member of UMWA Local #1727 Jewell Valley, Virginia. He was a member of the Lord Jesus Church in Red Ash, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Pamela Sue Culbertson; one grandson, James Arvil (Jimmy) Shelton, Jr.; one sister, Rachel Ann Hall; two brothers, Harrison (Boots) Dye and Robert Lee Dye; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Jean Dye; and one son-in-law, James Arvil Shelton, Sr.

Mrs. Connie Lucile Shamblin Crawford, age 89, of 1818 Fourth St. Richlands, Virginia died Wednesday, March 26th, 2003 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Pounding Mill, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Loyd McCutcheon and Rosa Etta Cyphers Shamblin.
She was a life long resident of the Richlands area and was a faithful member of the Richlands First United Methodist Church and the Wesleyan Service Guild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Kelly A. Crawford, one brother, Robert W. Shamblin, and one sister, Eloise Shamblin McGuire.

She was born in Richlands, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Johnny W. and Nannie Addison French, Sr., both Richlands natives. She was a life long resident of the Richlands area and attended the Richlands Church of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Cletus Allen Bragg.

Mr. Corby Kennedy, age 81, of Jolo, West Virginia died Tuesday, March 25th, 2003 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital.
He was born in Jolo, West Virginia and was a son of the late William H. and Mary Muncy Kennedy, both Jolo, West Virginia natives. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of Amercia. He had made his home in the Jolo area the past 59 years and attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Johnny Harmon Blanton, age 70, of Raven, Virginia died Saturday, March 22nd, 2003 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in Matewan, West Virginia and was a son of the late Herbert and Amy Blanton. He had lived in Cleveland, Ohio for 13 years, 6 years in Chicago, Illinois, and 28 years in the Raven area. He was a retired truck driver for Exxon Oil Company in Richlands and was a member of the Bible Way Church at Raven.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Lawson. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

She was born in Tip Top, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Dudley and Cosby Worley Sawyers, both Tazewell County natives.
She had made her home in the Richlands area most of her life and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. Otis Hoops, second husband, Mr. Nathan Hobbs, one son, George Hoops, one grandson, Buford Short, and one great grandson, Ridgy Coleman.

Mrs. Sylvia E. Ramsey, age 95, of 7961 Buffam Rd. Lodi, Ohio formerly East First St. Richlands, Virginia died Sunday, March 9th, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joyce Beavers in Lodi, Ohio.
She was born in Russell County, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Lockhart Maxfield, both Scott County, Virginia natives. She had made her home in the Richlands area most of her live, living in Ohio for the past six years and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and loved to feed the ducks near her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John H. Ramsey, one son, John T. Ramsey, two daughters, Helen Mullins Duty and Betty Sparks, four sisters, ten brothers, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
