Paul Hoffmaster
Paul Hoffmaster, 77, of Woodbridge, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the Potomac Hospital.
He was born in Washington, D.C., and earned a living as a paperboy at the Southeast Ferry Terminal during the Depression. He served his country as a heavy machine gunner in the Battle of the Bulge and in Rhineland and Central European campaigns of World War II. He was missing in action for 15 days. He introduced boating to the Occoquan River as founder of Hoffmaster's Marina specializing in family boating, and he played a seminal role in growing the D.C. boating market to one of the top 25 in North America.
Survivors include his wife, Martha L. Hoffman; brothers, Jack and Gene Hoffmaster; sister, Barbara Floyd; children, Deborah Hoch and Joseph Hoffmaster; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery with military honors.

Kathryn M. Menager
Kathryn M. (Saucier) Menager, 43, of Woodbridge, formerly of Haverhill, Mass., died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
She was born in Concord, N.H. on Jan. 26, 1959. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Elizabeth Saucier and a brother, Joseph Saucier. She had been a resident of Virginia for many years and had resided in Haverhill for five years and recently returned to Virginia.
Survivors include her husband, James Menager of Woodbridge; her daughter, Jennifer Menager of Woodbridge; her son, Joshua James Pay of Iverness, Fla.; her brother, Steven M. Saucier of Haverhill; two sisters, Dianne S. Dostie of Haverhill and Krystine S. Whipple of Salem, N.H.
Services will be held at the C. Frank Linnehan & Son Funeral Service, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, today at 1 p.m. At the request of the family there will be no visiting hours on Thursday.
Funeral services will also be held in Woodbridge at a future time and date to be announced.
Alice C. Perrington
Alice Caroline Perrington, 76, of Manassas died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the Prince William Hospital.
Born in Breese, Ill., she worked for the U.S. Government as a secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Johanna Wobbee; two brothers, Edward and Victor Wobbe and three sisters, Jean Kohlberg, Marie Erhardt, and Bernice Goldsmith.
Survivors include her husband, Louis Chancy Perrington of Manassas; one daughter, Jeanette Perrington of Manassas; one son, Robert T. Perrington of Mobile, Ala.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Blasius-Baker Funeral Home, 9320 West St., Manassas on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas at 10 a.m. Monday. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
Anita M. Shirley
Anita Marie Shirley, 74, of Leesburg, died at Meadow Glen of Leesburg on Tuesday, April 2, 2002.
She was born Feb. 16, 1928 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Martha Hachmann and her husband, Edward Earl Shirley.
Survivors are her children, Elaine Farrar of Leesburg, Laura Bonner of Fredericksburg, and Wayne Shirley of Woodbridge; one brother, William Hachmann of Inverness, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 2466 Longview Drive, Woodbridge, where services will follow at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Keith Loesch officiating. Interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery.

Elmer H. Anderson
Elmer Henry Anderson, 76, of Remington, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the Fauquier Hospital.
Born Oct. 22, 1925 in Culpeper County, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was discharged as a technician fifth grade. He operated an Esso Station at Bealeton for many years offering mechanical repairs as well as gasoline. He worked for Trinity Packaging Company in Remington from which he retired. He was an avid bowler and a member of Remington Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He was a member of VFW Post 7728 at Morrisville where he had served as an officer.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Bessie Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Margaret C. Anderson; one daughter, Gail Brown of Warrenton; one son, Wayne Anderson of Front Royal; two sisters, Evia Yates of Manassas and Mary Kohler of Maryland; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be Wednesday at Remington Baptist Church at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper.

Billie M. Crews
Billie Marie Crews, 63, of Manassas, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Prince William Hospital.
Every Saturday night, Mrs. Crews would be at the Manassas Fire Department to play bingo.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Crews in 1974.
Survivors include her husband, John Leonard Crews of Manassas; her children, Debbie Proctor of Manassas, Glenda Weston of Alexandria, Randy Crews of Frostburg, Md., Robert Crews of Woodbridge, Tina Riley of Manassas and Anthony Crews of Manassas; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Sudley United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Geoffrey W. Gordon
Geoffrey William Gordon, 66, of Manassas, died Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at his home.
He was born in Havant, England and retired as a fleet chief in the Royal Navy in 1979. He served for 27 years and traveled the world. He worked in Manassas as a Realtor having been associated with Coldwell Banker, ReMax, and Kane and Associates and most recently employed by the Real Estate Book.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Barbara (nee Cosens) Gordon.
Survivors are a daughter, Amanda Leigh Gordon of Nokesville; two brothers, Angus and Tim Gordon; one sister, Barbara Porter, all of the United Kingdom.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at Blasius-Baker Funeral Home, 9320 West St., Manassas at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Don Meeks officiating. Inurnment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens.
Charlotte F. Harding
Charlotte F. Harding, 91, of Manassas, died March 31, 2002, at the Prince William Hospital.
She was a resident of Prince William County for the past four years. She worked as a nurse at Columbia Hospital for Women. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., and she also attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church where she made rosaries for the missions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Harding.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Jane Herring of Dale City; three nephews and one niece.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City with a rosary at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12805 Valleywood Drive, Lake Ridge, with the Rev. James Barkett officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Margaret W. Mason
Margaret Elizabeth Warner Mason died Friday, March 29, 2002, at the Prince William Hospital in Manassas.
She was born March 29, 1916 in Albion, Mich. She married James Carlyle Mason in Hillsdale, Mich., and moved to Tecumseh, Mich., and lived there until 1976 when she and her husband moved to Sebring, Fla. She served as a volunteer at Highlands Regional Hospital for more than 20 years. In 2001, she moved to Manassas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lavern and Ora Lee McCoskey Warner, and one sister, Mary Jean Mason.
Survivors include her son, Greg Mason; two sisters, Frances Clark of Renssellaer, Ind., and Jane Metcalf of Techumseh, Mich., and two grandchildren.
A memorial service and interment will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church in Sebring, Fla. on April 21.

Carl D. Plaster
Carl Douglas Plaster, 62, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at the Prince William Hospital in Manassas.
He was a drywall finisher for 38 years and he enjoyed doing wood work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Martha Plaster, and two brothers, James E. and Stallard E. Plaster.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Plaster of Manassas; four sons, Robert Plaster of Manassas, Douglas Plaster of Front Royal and Gregory and Brian Plaster of Nokesville; two daughters, Brenda Plaster of Manassas and Kimberly Plaster of Nokesville and 18 grandchildren.
Services will be private.

Oscar L. Staley
Oscar L. Staley, 80, of Sumerduck, formerly of Rural Retreat, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Feb. 18, 1922 in Welsh, W.Va., and was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard serving in World War II. He lived most of his life in Manassas and Rural Retreat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant and Myrtle Staley.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Doris Elizabeth Staley of Sumerduck; four daughters, Shirley Williams of Sumerduck, Carole Carlisle of Santa Rosa, Calif., Tina Howard of Gouvereur, N.Y., and Regina Herlihy of Baltimore; one son, Wayne Staley of Rural Retreat; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., at Quantico National Cemetery, with the Rev. Edward Leis officiating. Honors will be provided by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Maury L. Wells
Maury Lewis Wells, 82, of Manassas, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the Prince William Hospital in Manassas.
He was a lifelong resident of Manassas and a World War II Army veteran. He was a charter member and former president of the Manassas Host Lions Club where he received his 50-year pin in 1997. From 1967 to 1994, he served as an original member of the Manassas Airport Administrative Board, and a former member of Manasseh Lodge #182 A.F.&A.M. He was a former member of the Richmond Scottish Rite and ACCA Temple Shriners in Richmond and a member of the Manassas Presbyterian Church, and a volunteer at Prince William Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Gilley Wells.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Wells Worley of Manassas and Carol Ann Wells Scherman of Washington, D.C.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas where a Masonic memorial service will be held at 8 p.m.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Manassas Presbyterian Church, 8201 Ashston Ave., with the Rev. Mary Boyd Click officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas.

Nettie F. Wright
Nettie F. Wright, 96, formerly of Lorton, died March 29, 2002, at Bon Air Home for the Elderly of Star Tannery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hector W. Wright Sr. She lived in Northern Virginia since 1929 and in Lorton for 64 years. She was active in American Legion Post 162 auxiliary and the Lorton Fire Department auxiliary. She worked in Fairfax County school cafeterias part-time and was active in National Voting polls. She was an actress in Lorton Little Theater group and was an avid gardener.
She is survived by two sons, Hector W. Wright Jr. of Star Tannery, and Louis Wright of Canton, Pa., and 2 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, where services will be held at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Billy Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at Pohick Episcopal Church Cemetery.
McCormick Cummings
McCormick "Mac" Cummings, 32, of Stafford, died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the Mary Washington Hospital due to complications from a past injury.
A native of New Zealand, he served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Aukland, New Zealand, before coming to the United States.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; a daughter, Amanda Abramson of the home; two sons, Mathew Abramson and Gabriel Cummings of the home; his parents, Tura Ioane Cummings and George Cummings of Raratonga, Cook Islands; three sisters, Josephine Teokota and Maria Cummings, both of Raratonga, Cook Islands, and Ngatokoa Attriage of Australia; and one brother, George Cummings Jr. of New Zealand.
The family will receive friends at Found and Sons, Fredericksburg Chapel on today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Bishop Roger Kulbeth officiating. Interment will take place at Stafford Memorial Park.
