Sadie M. Underwood

Sadie M. Underwood, of Manassas, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at her home.

She was born Feb. 6, 1950 in Washington, D.C., to the late George and Ruth Wines.

She is survived by eight children, Joseph and Robert of Manassas Park, Christina, Joseph, Johnny, Chucky, Perm and Chasity Grant of Manassas. She is also survived by one sister, Delores Tinnell of Manassas; one brother, George Wines, of Reston; and 18 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Adams-Green Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. today. Memorial services will be held Friday at 1 p.m.

Arrangements by Adams-Green Funeral Home, Herndon.

Brianna Falls-Fortney
Brianna Hope Falls-Fortney, infant daughter of Rebecca Falls and Adam Fortney, both of Woodbridge, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Barbara and Don Falls of Woodbridge; her paternal grandparents, Cindy Fortney of Woodbridge and Albert Fortney of Montclair.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12805 Valleywood Drive, Lake Ridge, with the Rev. James Barkett officiating.

Graveside services will take place on Saturday at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Nanticoke, Pa.

Arrangements are by Mountcastle Funeral Home, Dale City.

Sandra M. Gojekian
Sandra Maureen Gojekian, 45, of Manassas, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Haig Gojekian. She was a resident of Prince William County for more than 18 years. She obtained her master#&039;s degree in counseling and rehabilitation from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., and she was the administrator of Child Development Services in Quantico.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Gojekian of Manassas; her mother, Carolyn Stacy of Welch, W.Va.; her sisters, Lila "Kay" Hurst of Manassas, Jean Baltus of Colorado Springs, Colo., Judy Wyatt of Senoia, Ga., and Kim Coleman of Ft. Meyer, Fla.; her brothers, James Stacy of Eaton, Md., Anthony Stacy of Mooresville, N.C., Dan Stacy of Crosslanes, W.Va.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Mountcastle Funeral Home, Dale City.

Walter C. Hook Jr.
Walter C. Hook Jr., 79, of Annandale, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at his home.

He was the son of a Methodist minister and was born in Harrisonburg and moved to Washington, D.C. He graduated from Randolph Macon Military Academy in 1941 and was a merchant seaman during World War II and then a professional driver before joining the Fairfax County Police Department. His distinguished career included command of several police substations. He retired in 1973 due to a job related disability and moved to Florida for 24 years. He returned to Northern Virginia due to health problems and had resided in the family home.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Etta Hook; five children, Walter "Ricky" Hook III, Sally Merchak Ryland, Roland Hook, Cindy Hook, and Debbie Minett; one brother, Dalton Hook of Treasure Island, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Everly Funeral Home, 10565 Main St., Fairfax. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospices of the National Capital Region, 9300 Lee Highway, Suite 500, Fairfax, VA 22031.

Rosie M. Staley
Rosie Marie Staley, 69, of Temple Hills, Md., died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Laurel Regional Hospital in Laurel, Md.

She was a member of Golden Church of God of Prophecy and a member of Virginia State Society.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia A. Campfield of Temple Hills; five sons, Clem E. Ross of Silver Spring, Md., David C. Ross of Temple Hills, Jacques D. Ross of Beltsville, Md., Jeffrey C. Staley of Deale, Md., and Garcia O. Staley of Cheverly, Md.; five sisters, Carie Pulley of Temple Hills, Gloria Walker of Gainesville, Ruby Hodges of Washington, D.C., Dorothy Jackson of Gainesville and Mary Ann Settles of Manassas; two brothers, James Anderson of Twentynine Palms, Calif., and Paul Moore of Winchester; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ames Funeral Home, 8914 Quarry Road, Manassas, where services will be conducted at noon with Elder Rodney Wayne Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, Upperville.

Ruth H. Stallknecht
Ruth H. Stallknecht, 86, of Dumfries, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge.

She had been a Realtor for 30 years in Prince William County. She and her husband were owners of Stallknecht Realty. While moving with her husband in the Marine Corps, she found a position teaching in various schools. She loved to teach children to read. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel McComas.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Edward S. Stallknecht of Dumfries; a daughter, Leslie Ruth Stallknecht Rice of Dumfries; a sister, Doris DiDomenico of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Road, Triangle with the Rev. John O#&039;Connor officiating. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to The American Heart Association, Memorials and Tributes Processing Center, P. O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.

James White Sr.
Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer James Francis White Sr., 78, of Woodbridge, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at the Medical College of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by a son, Sean R. White; a brother, Albert White; and a sister, Sarah Madden. He was a resident of Woodbridge since 1963. He retired from the Navy after 30 years as a chief petty officer. He then retired from the Fairfax County Services as a welder. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church.

A graveside service with military honors will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Quantico National Cemetery, with the Rev. T. Todd Smith officiating.

The procession to the cemetery will leave Cokesbury United Methodist Church at 9:30 a.m.

Arrangements are by Mountcastle Funeral Home, Dale City.

Douglas W. Arnold

Douglas William Arnold, of Centreville, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church.

He was regional financial management advisor for Latin America and the Caribbean region at the World Bank. His team was responsible for distribution of $5.4 billion in the last 12 months to Latin America. He was a member of the Centreville Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked for 25 years as a foreign service officer with the State Department that took him to 43 countries.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Chirley Roundy Arnold; six children, Crystal Maurine, Spencer Isaac, Sarah Maria, Karl Douglas, Michael Alton and Briana Katie Arnold; his parents, Alton and Mary Lou Arnold of Clio, Ala.; his grandmother, Anna Edna Mae Roth of Alabama; three brothers, David, Steven and Philip Arnold; and one sister, Annette Brimley.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:15 p.m. Thursday at Centreville Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 14150 Upper Ridge Road, Centreville, where services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Interment will be at St. George Cemetery, St. George, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This fund is for education of returned missionaries in Third World countries to help them get a college education when they return from their missions. The fund is a repayable educational loan which allows others to reuse the money to further their education.

Arrangements are by Price Funeral Home, Manassas.

Jason J. Beach

Jason Jeffrey Beach, 22, of Montclair, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2001, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

He was a resident of Prince William County for 10 years. He was an Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 35. He graduated from Hylton High School, where he was a member of the varsity soccer team. He worked as a part-time trainer for Washington Sports Club while attending George Mason University.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Anne Beach, and his grandfather, Glenn M. Beach.

Survivors include his parents, Jeff and Janet Beach of Montclair; his sister, Jennifer Suzanne Beach of Montclair; and his grandparents, Joe and Betty Waldburger of Antioch, Calif., and Jean R. Beach of Saginaw, Mich.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Road, Triangle, with the Rev. Kevin Nadolski officiating. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 700 W. Raye St., Seattle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Georgetown University Children's Medical Center, Bldg. PHC, 2nd floor, 3800 Reservoir Road, N.W., Washington, DC 20007.

>Aaron B. Bowles Jr.

Aaron Bernard "Bernie" Bowles Jr., 76, of Manassas, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Prince William Hospital in Manassas.

He served in the Army Air Force in England, Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of Paris. After the war, he graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia Law School. He worked for State Farm Insurance and later joined the law firm of McGoldrick, Bowles & Gallagher.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Joyce Bowles; one son, Aaron Bowles III of Reston; one daughter, Suzanne Licking of Akron, Ohio; one stepson, Michael Alexander of Sykesville, Md.,; two stepdaughters, Dee Dee Becker of Manassas and Debra Lucas of Bradenton Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Jean Davis and Dorothy McCollum, both of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Sue Neal of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 9325 West St., Manassas, the Rev. Stuart E. Schadt and the Rev. Vinnie Carney officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of flowers or memorial contributions to Hospice of Northern Virginia, P. O. Box 1576, Merrifield, VA 22116-1576; or Trinity Episcopal Church, 9325 West St., Manassas, VA 20110.

Marjorie H. Q. DuBois

Marjorie Henrietta Quigley DuBois, 85, of Montclair, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Lorton.

She was a professed member of the Franciscan secular order since 1975, a member of the Rosary Society at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish in Brooklyn, N.Y., and she had joined St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Triangle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren DuBois.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Kellogg of Idaho, Isabella Buckley of Montclair and Mary Jude Franke of Fredericksburg; three sons, Warren DuBois of Salem, Mo., Donald DuBois of Cooperstown, N.Y., and Gerald P. DuBois of Marathon Key, Fla.; one sister, Isabella Reynolds of White Haven, Pa.; one brother, Patrick Quigley of Mesa, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Road, Triangle. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Long Island National Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Northern Virginia Chapter, 10201 Lee Highway, Suite 210, Fairfax, VA 22030; or to the Francis House, 18825 Fuller Heights Road, Triangle, VA 22172.

Charles H. Leggett

Charles Henry Leggett, 78, of Manassas, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at his home.

He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific campaign.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sylvia A. Leggett; one son, Charles B. Leggett of Nokesville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Carolyn Richar officiating. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle with military honors.

Garland L. Orndorff Sr.

Garland Lee Orndorff Sr., 58, of Triangle, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at Prince William Hospital in Manassas.

He served in the Army National Guard and sold construction equipment and parts for the James River Equipment Co.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert James Orndorff.

Survivors include his mother, Lida Dean Orndorff of Manassas; two sons, Lee Orndorff of Dayton and Terry Orndorff of Triangle; two brothers, Gilbert James "Dino" Orndorff of Elkton and James McCoy of Manassas; and two sisters, Licia Parker of Leesburg and Linda Burka of Alexandria.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Jollett United Methodist Church near Elkton, the Rev. Michael Plasters officiating. Burial will follow in Jollett Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1920-H Medical Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
