Gladys P. Gartlan
Gladys Payne Gartlan of Warrenton died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Sunrise Retirement Home.
She taught junior high and high school English in Fauquier and Prince William counties. She last taught at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, where she served as head of the English department.
Preceded in death by her parents, J. Edward Payne and Gay DeNeale Payne, and her husband, Charles "Hack" Gartlan, she is survived by an extended family.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at Orlean Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton.
Addie Mae Alexander
Addie Mae Alexander, 89, of Chapel Oaks, Md., died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Prince George's Hospital Center, Cheverly, Md.
She was a member of Neabsco Baptist Church, Woodbridge. She was employed for many years at the Federal Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton C. Alexander.
She is survived by her son, Gray A. Speight of Alexandria; three grandchildren, Felix Speight of Chapel Oaks, Md., Felicia Younger of Alexandria and Gwendolyn Speight of Richmond; one sister, Mable Humbert of Stafford; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Neabsco Baptist Church, 15557 Cardinal Drive, Woodbridge, where a funeral service will be conducted at noon, the Rev. Ambrose M. Perry, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Stafford Memorial Park, Stafford.

Carol A. Morrow
Carol Ann Morrow, 50, of Dale City died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge.
Born in Virginia, she was a home health-care aide and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Reiter. She is survived by her husband, David M. Morrow; three sons, Matthew Morrow of Harrisonburg, Jason Morrow of Centreville and Jesse Morrow of Dumfries; her mother, Mary Walters Reiter; and two brothers, John Reiter of Alabama and Richard Reiter of Florida.
Services were held Friday at Theis Funeral Chapel in New Market, the Rev. Cecil Haycock officiating. Burial was private.
Mable K. Colston
Mable King Colston, 84, on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Westminster at Lake Ridge.
She was a native of Washington and had been a resident of Northern Virginia since 1983. She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. She retired after 40 years of working for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon.
She is survived by two daughters, Rachel Hines of Woodbridge and Melva Louise Byrne of Stafford; one sister, Hazel K. Anderson of Silver Spring, Md.; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. service time Wednesday at Westminster at Lake Ridge Chapel, 12191 Clipper Drive, Lake Ridge, the Rev. William Sengel officiating. Burial will follow at Washington National Cemetery in Suitland, Md.

Holly Curtis
Holly Curtis, infant, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg.
She is survived by her parents, Jeff and Tracy Curtis of King George; one brother, Corey Michael Curtis of the home; one sister, Amber Fawn Boyer-Curtis of the home; and paternal grandparents, Ed and Pat Curtis of Fredericksburg.
Services will be private.

John H. Jackson
John H. Jackson, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at his home in Fairfax Station. He was a member of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington, the Reston Folk Club, the Mississippi Valley Blues Society and the Washington Blues Society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Lee Jackson; and three sons, John Jr., Ned and McArthur Jackson.
He is survived by his close friend and manager, Trish Byerly; one daughter, Cora Elizabeth Johnson of Fairfax Station; three sons, Lee Jackson of Manassas, James Jackson of Fairfax Station and Timothy Jackson of Manassas; one brother, Thomas Jackson of Maryland; one sister, Roberta Wiggington of Vienna; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ames Funeral Home, 8914 Quarry Road, Manassas, and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the Grace Baptist Church 14242 Spriggs Road, Woodbridge, where services will be held at 11 a.m., the Rev. Rae P. B. Hutcherson
Rae Peyton Broyles Hutcherson, 85, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Carriage Hill Nursing Home.
She was a retired gift shop manager at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Reva Newman Peyton.
She is survived by her daughter, Vivian Broyles Rucker of Sarasota, Fla.; one sister, Barbara Netoskie of Houston; and two grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mullins & Thompson Fredericksburg Chapel, 1621 Jefferson Davis Highway, where services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Joseph E. Korzendorfer Sr.
Joseph "Joe" Ernest Korzendorfer Sr., 68, of Manassas, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at his residence.
He was a member of the Church of God on Rixlew Lane in Manassas. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired from civil service in 1981 as a heavy equipment mechanic and machinist.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Korzendorfer; and one grandson, Andrew Lee McMillen.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Ellen Marie Korzendorfer; one daughter, Joyce Hunsberger of Dale City; two sons, Joseph "Joey" Korzendorfer of Manassas and John "Johnny" Wesley Korzendorfer of the home; two grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Payne and Madeline Korzendorfer, both of Manassas; and three brothers, Conrad "Connie" Korzendorfer, Fritz Korzendorfer and Earl Humphreys, all of Manassas.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas. Mildred R. Lee
Mildred Rachel Lee, 64, of Falls Church, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Milton Lee Sr.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Ann Lee of Falls Church; two sons, Michael Lee of Washington, D.C., and Carroll Lee of Springfield; one daughter, Terry J. Lee of Falls Church; seven sisters, Arlene Henderson of Falls Church, Bettye Boxley and Shirley Lee, both of Alexandria, Delores Carter of Manassas, LaVerne Harris of Oxon Hill, Md., Josephine Lewis of Fort Washington, Md., and Geraldine Lee of Arlington; four brothers, John M. Lee Jr. and James Lee, both of Manassas, Theodore Lee of Centreville and Norman Lee of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Greater Little Zion Baptist Church, 10185 Zion Drive, Fairfax, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Dr. George E. Comfort officiating. Burial will follow at National Memorial Park, Falls Church.

Elizabeth S. Altman
Elizabeth S. Altman of Manassas died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at the Prince William Hospital from complications following pneumonia.
She was originally from St. Louis, Mo., and attended South East Missouri State University and served with the Department of State, Foreign Service in South Africa, The Netherlands and Japan. She later worked as an employee and volunteer for the Prince William Library System and was a member and volunteer for the Bull Run Unitarian Universalist Church in Manassas.
She suffered of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and was a pioneer patient for lung reduction surgery in 1994. She received a lung transplant in 1998 at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church. She dedicated most of her time allaying fears of others who were going through either the pre- or post-transplant experience and spoke to many groups about her own experiences.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Ray Altman; her children, Christopher W. Altman of Alexandria, and Catherine A. Altman of Fairfax and one brother, Roger Schrader of Tucson, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bull Run Unitarian Universalist Church, 9350 Main St., Manassas. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. A private interment will take place at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.

Albert Chapman
Albert H. "Rock" Chapman, 69, of Woodbridge, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at the Potomac Hospital.
He had been a resident of Woodbridge since 1967. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired from Virginia Power in 1990 after 35 years service. He was a member of the VFW of Dale City and the Crow's Nest Hunt Club in Harrisonburg.
Survivors are his wife of 46 years, Ruby P. Chapman of Woodbridge; three sons, Allen D. Chapman of Callao, John B. Chapman and William T. Chapman, both of Stafford and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, where services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery with military honors.

Tanis Ann Lawson Hase died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia L. Lehman, Allison A. Young, Laurel A. Mullins, Christina A. Hase, Daris D. Lancaster, Ethan A. Hase, Sara C. Doss, Miriam E. Hase-Miller, Vivian R. Giles and 30 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road,Woodbridge, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dale City. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery at noon, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Floyd G. Hase.

Jane Obst, 85, of Manassas, died Friday, March 15, 2002, at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bernard Obst.
Survivors include three daughters, Margo Dunn of Silver Springs, Md., Pamela Kettler and Kippi Mussey, both of Manassas; one son, Paul Obst of Fairfax and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Blasius-Baker Funeral Home, 9320 West St., where sservices will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.

Lawson Williams Jr., 51, formerly of Manassas, died Friday, March 15, 2002, in Harrisburg, Pa.
Survivors include his mother, Allean Nettie Williams of Manassas; his companion, Winifred Miller of Harrisburg; four children, Deidra Smith of Bristow, Dwayne Lansdowne of Reston, Darryl Walker of Williamsport, Pa., and Marquise Ferguson of Warrenton; six brothers, Ralph Williams of Woodbridge, Ted Williams of Manassas, Parker Williams and Aubrey Williams, both of Woodbridge; four sisters, Susan Hicks, Marilyn Williams and Allean King, all of Manassas, and Carolyn Williams of Woodbridge. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after 11 a.m. Thursday, at First Baptist Church, 9258 Center St., Manassas, where services will be held at noon, with the Rev. Rodney Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Manassas.

Joseph "Joey" Franklin Bland Jr., 30, of Stafford, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg.
He was a taxi driver for Virginia Hilldrup Cab Co., and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 4123 and the Fraternal Order of Moose No. 2215.
Survivors include one son, Joseph F. Bland III of the home; his parents, Lizzie and Joseph F. Bland Sr. of Stafford; two sisters, Linda Kerr of Partlow and Carolyn Lacks of Blackstone; one half-sister, Sara Barnett of Chase City; and his fiancee, Marcella Myers of Stafford.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Mullins & Thompson Stafford Chapel, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, the Rev. Mark Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Stafford Memorial Park.
