Rita A. Linton Helms
Rita Alice Linton Helms, 76, of Woodstock, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Leaf and Maude Elton Pangle Linton; her husband, Edgar Glenn Helms; four brothers, Ray, Edwin, Emery and Dudley Linton; and two sisters, June Bradley and Louise Weimer.
Survivors include one sister, Myrtle Truex of Virginia Beach; four sons, Bobby Helms of Linden, Billy Helms of Buckhannon, W.Va., Charles Helms of Manassas and Jeff Helms of Sterling; three daughters, Patsy Dasher of Woodstock, and Paula Harris and Karen Schottler, both of Berryville; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Dellinger Funeral Home, 157 N. Main St., Woodstock, with the service following with the Rev. Bowers of Woodstock officiating. Interment will be held at National Memorial Park Cemetery, Falls Church, on Sunday at noon.
Rosemary B. Lutes
Rosemary B. Lutes, 64, of Lake Ridge, died Tuesday, May 23, 2002, at her home.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Kenneth Lutes; two sons, Patrick Lutes of Lake Ridge and Mikel Lutes of Fredericksburg; one sister, Phyllis Buttler of Paris, Ky.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at MacFarland Funeral Home in Paris on Tuesday.
Local arrangements are by Mountcastle Funeral Home, Dale City.
Gilbert E. Miller
Gilbert Earl Miller, 66, of Manassas, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at his home.
He was born July 18, 1935, in Oakton. He was a member of Manassas Church of the Brethren where he served on the Trustee Board. He was a volunteer firefighter with Manassas Park Volunteer Fire Department and had retired from Northern Virginia Electric Coup as a lineman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi B. and Nina Yates Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Shirley L. Miller; four children, Lewis Earl Miller and his wife, Samantha, of Manassas, Leah Miller Collins and her husband, Vernard, of Linden, Linda Miller Wilcox of Issaquah, Wash., and Larry Levi Miller and his wife, Toni, of Manassas; one sister, Lois Miller Kinszie of Durham, N.C.; three brothers, Douglas Miller of Alexandria, Warren Miller of Delavan, Wis., and Wayne Lee Miller of Stanhope, N.J.; and four grandchildren, Kenneth Scott Wilcox, Joseph McNeal Miller, Larry Levi Miller II and Reva Mae Miller.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Manassas Church of The Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Road, Manassas, with the Rev. Fred Swartz and the Rev. Jeffrey Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Cannon Branch Cemetery in Manassas.

Geraldine S. Lloyd
Geraldine Safley Lloyd, 81, of Florence, S.C., died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at her residence after a sudden illness.
She was born on Feb. 7, 1921, in Parris Island, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Marine Sergeant Major William Ely Safley and Annie L. Murray Safley. She was the wife of Warren F. Lloyd.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Darlington Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by one son, Warren Safley Lloyd.
In addition to her husband, Warren, of the home, she is survived by two daughters, Fran Lloyd Nelson of Florence, S.C. and Anne Elizabeth Lloyd Chambers of Key Largo, Fla.; one sister, Y’vonne Kelley of Triangle; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be private at a later date.
The family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.

Alicia R. Gasparotto
Alicia Rafaela Gasparotto, 84, of Woodbridge, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Northern Virginia Community Hospital, Arlington.
She was a resident of Prince William County for more than 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Gasparotto.
She is survived by one daughter, Bruna A. Green of Woodbridge; one son, Bruno E. Gasparotto of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Albina Leandro of Lima, Peru; one brother, Victor Cox of Alexandria; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Mountcastle Funeral Home, Dale City. Interment was private.

Marcus Dempsey
Retired U.S. Navy SKC Marcus Dempsey, 70, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
He was a member of the Disabled Veterans Chapter No. 48 and the Fleet Reserve Association Chapter No. 207.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Nadine L. Dempsey; five stepchildren, Robert Klem of Frederick, Md., Marjorie Chaney of Gaithersburg, Md., Dalena Saling of Sterling, and Lourinda Zies of Chantilly and Evonne Sisler of Manassas; one sister, Juanita Lewis of Rocky Mount, N.C.; 12 stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, with military honors. The funeral procession will leave Price Funeral Home at 10 a.m.

Antwone K. T. Edwards
Antwone K. Taylor Edwards, 17, of Dumfries, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in Charlotte, N.C.
He attended Ft. Belvoir and Prince William County schools. In December, he graduated from the Virginia Commonwealth Challenge Program. He was a member of Neabsco Baptist Church in Woodbridge, where he served as president of Youth Disciples, held an office on the Junior Usher Board and was a member of the Voices of Hope. He completed requirements for basic training with the Quantico Young Marines in Quantico.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Renee Edwards of Dumfries; one brother, LaMichael Edwards of Dumfries; two sisters, Angeleseya and Ariah Edwards, both of Dumfries; his grandparents, Nelse and Stella Taylor and Leon and Gloria Edwards of Mobile, Ala.; paternal great-grandmother, Theresa Battles of Mobile; six aunts; four uncles; godparents, Ronald and Katrina Edwards and Ollie and Linda Lindsey; and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 10 a.m. Wednesday at Neabsco Baptist Church in Woodbridge, where a Homegoing Service will be held at noon, the Rev. Dr. Ambrose M. Perry officiating. Interment will be held at LawnHaven Cemetery in Mobile.

Sue E. Eppard
Sue Ellen Eppard, 41, of Orange, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville due to complications from a car accident.
She was the area manager for Kohl's department store in Fredericksburg. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and taught Sunday school there and at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Woodbridge.
She was preceded in death by her father, Keith Van Horn.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Leon Eppard Jr. of Orange; two daughters, Angela Eppard and Amie Eppard, both of Orange; one son, Vernon Leon Eppard III of Orange; a stepson, Bradley James Sorrell of VMI in Lexington; her mother, Mary Ellen Van Horn of Woodbridge; and her brother, William Van Horn of Frederick, Md.
The family received friends Monday evening at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, where services were held at 8:30 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, the Rev. David I. Martin officiating.

Douglas C. Morris
Dr. Douglas C. Morris, 81, of Nokesville, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville following surgery.
He was born in Pennsylvania on Oct. 17, 1920, and grew up in Manassas and attended schools in Manassas. He was a graduate of Strayer College and the University of Virginia, and received his medical degree from George Washington University. He served two terms of service with the U.S. Air Force as a flight surgeon. He was a general practitioner for more than 50 years, working in Miami for 25 years and then in Warrenton for another 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia R. Morris; two daughters, Leslie Yarbrough and Mary Pat Morris, both of Fort Worth, Texas; one stepdaughter, Judith Vasquez of Manassas; one stepson, Robert Ovitt of Halcyville, Ala.; two sisters, Mary Jane Morris of Charlottesville and Lucy White of Dunnellon, Fla.; and one grandchild.
The family received friends Monday evening at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave., Warrenton.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Greenwich Presbyterian Church, Nokesville, the Rev. Donald M. Meeks officiating.

John "Jack" L. Prah
John "Jack" L. Prah, of Woodbridge, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge.
He was born in Altoona, Pa., and lived most of his life in the Woodbridge area.
Friends will gather 8 p.m. Saturday at the Pilot House Restaurant and Marina, 16215 Neabsco Road, Woodbridge.
