Jessie Lee Womack , 86, of 1147 Wagstaff Lane, Scottsburg died November 4, 2003 in Scottsburg.
Mr. Womack was born in Halifax County on July 11, 1917, the son of Charles Eddie Womack and Bessie Womack and was married to Marie Mitchell Womack. He was a member of Spanish Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Helen Canada of Clover, Agnos Sydnor of Cluster Springs, Alberta Jones and Edna Bates, both of Baltimore, Md.; five sons, Charlie Womack and Isadore Womack, both of Richmond, Isaac Womack, Michael Womack and Gregory Womack, all of Scottsburg; 28 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Womack will be held today, November 7 at 3 p.m. at Spanish Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Womack officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mary Edmonds Womack
Mary Edmonds Womack, 70, of 1215 Waltman Trail, Vernon Hill died July 2, 2003 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Womack was born in Halifax County on November 10, 1932, the daughter of the late William Braxton Edmonds and Lillie Adams Edmonds and was married to Onzie Womack. She was a member of New Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Emma W. Sutphin of Richmond and Grindle W. Martin of Halifax; five sons, Glen O. Womack and Onzie Womack Jr., both of Halifax, Robert L. Womack, James K. Womack and John W. Womack, all of South Boston; three sisters, Isabelle Womack, Louise Womack and Ida Barksdale, all of Halifax; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; one son-in-law; and three daughters-in-law.
Funeral services for Mrs. Womack will be held July 5 at 10 a.m. at New Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Ford conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home.
Martha Coleman Wood
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Coleman Wood will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 7, 2003, at the Ellis Creek Baptist Church.
The Rev. Rodney Forrest will officiate.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wood died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the Berry Hill Nursing Home.
She was 84.
Mrs. Wood was born in Halifax County on May 21, 1919 to the late John Thomas Coleman and Sarah Lacks Coleman.
She was married to the late Riley B. Wood and was a member of the Ellis Creek Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wood is survived by eight sisters, Estelle Coleman and Eva Bates, both of South Boston, Mozelle Coleman of Eden, N.C., Mazy Brown of Halifax, Lenora Bowman and Pearl Coleman, both of New York, N.Y., Katherine Coleman of Vernon Hill, Va., and Pauline Cousin of Teaneck, N.J., two brothers, John T. Coleman and Paul Coleman, both of Vernon Hill, three sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Milton Wyatt
Milton 'Skinny' Wyatt, 84, of South Boston died October 24, 2003 in a Petersburg Hospital.
Mr. Wyatt was born in Halifax County on June 7, 1919, the son of the late Creed Wyatt and Mollie Wyatt and was married to the late Annie Brandon Wyatt. He was a member of Mizpah Presbyterian Church and was an Army Veteran.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lee Brandon of Washington, D.C. and Lucille Jones of Pennsauken, N.J.; two sons, Sandra Doc Wyatt and William Clark, both of South Boston; six grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Wyatt will be held today, October 29 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Jeffress Funeral Home with the Rev. Sandy Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Garden Cemetery.
Lou Fannie Crews Younger
Lou Fannie Crews Younger, 92, of 2212 Meadville Road, Halifax died December 6, 2003 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Younger was born in Halifax County on August 6, 1911, the daughter of Henry Crews and Daisy Logan Crews and was married to Herman Younger. She was a member of Banister Hill CME Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Inez Y. Powell of Halifax; four sons, Thomas Younger, Gordon Younger and Theodore Younger, all of Halifax, and Herman Ray Younger of Oxford, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Younger will be held December 12 at 1 p.m. at Banister Hill CME Church with the Rev. Frances Coates officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Hazel Lorain Claiborne Gatewood
Hazel Lorain Claiborne Gatewood, 57, formerly of South Boston, died July 21, 2004.
Graveside services for Mrs. Gatewood will be held tomorrow, July 31, at 4 p.m. at Five Forks Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Sandy Palmer and Moses Dixon officiating.
Lena Frances Good
Lena Frances Good, 76, of 1111 Wolf Trap Road, South Boston, died July 29 at her home.
She was born December 20, 1927, in Halifax County the daughter of the late Henry Good and Cora Brenneman Good. She was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church and was a retired mail clerk with Burlington Industries.
Survivors of Miss Good include two sisters, Ruth Good of South Boston and Ina Stalter of Stuarts Draft; one brother, Ira Good of South Boston; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters, Beulah I. Good, Elizabeth Brunk, Dorothy Brunk, Mary Good and Louis Good.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 6 at 7 p.m. at Ebenezer Mennonite Church with Pastors Nathan Good and Kelvin Good officiating.
The family is receiving friends at the home.

Annie Hazelwood Guill
Mrs. Annie Hazelwood Guill, 85, of South Boston, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Woodview Nursing Home.
She was born in Halifax County on December 23, 1918.
Mrs. Guill was the daughter of John Averett Hazelwood and Lula Cook Hazelwood.
She was a member of the Revelation Baptist Church.
Mrs. Guill is survived by: two grandsons, Tim Lloyd of South Boston, and Dean Satterfield of Suffolk; one niece, Shirley Baird of Richmond; one great-granddaughter, Leighanne Lloyd of South Boston.
Graveside services will be held Monday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at Halifax Memorial Gardens with Rev. Rudolph Jacobs conducting the service.
Charles Rickie Hammock
Mr. Charles Rickie Hammock, 52, of Cedar Lane, Halifax, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at his home.
He was born in Franklin County, Alabama, on April 9, 1952.
He was the son of Charles Travis Hammock and Dorothy Armstrong Hammock and was married to Sandi Mauldin Hammock.
Mr. Hammock was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, South Boston, was a member of the News Ferry Hunt Club and was general manager of Sunshine Mills in Halifax.
He is survived by: his wife, Sandi Mauldin Hammock; two daughters, Amanda Hammock and fiance Rolando Toyos of Memphis, TN, and Christie Noblin and husband Steve of Halifax; two grandsons, Tyler Wayne Noblin of Halifax, and Aaron Elijah Noblin of Halifax; his mother, Dorothy Armstrong Hammock of Red Bay, Alabama; one brother, Scotty Hammock and wife Quida of Red Bay, Alabama; one sister, Esta McKinney and husband Jerry of Red Bay, Alabama; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 24, with the Rev. Dr. Russell Lee, the Rev. Ed Melvin and the Rev. Terry Blevins officiating.

Derick Charles Eli Hammock
Mr. Derick Charles Eli Hammock, 19, of Cedar Lane, Halifax, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 23, 1985.
He was the son of Charles Rickie Hammock and Sandi Mauldin Hammock.
Mr. Hammock was a graduate of Halifax County Senior High School, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in South Boston, the Halifax Volunteer Fire Department and the News Ferry Hunt Club.
He is survived by: his mother, Sandi Mauldin Hammock of Halifax; two sisters, Amanda Hammock and fiance Rolando Toyos of Memphis, TN, Christie Noblin and husband Steve of Halifax; his grandmother, Dorothy Armstrong Hammock of Red Bay, Alabama; two nephews, Tyler Wayne Noblin and Aaron Elijah Noblin, both of Halifax; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 24, with the Rev. Dr. Russell Lee, the Rev. Ed Melvin and the Rev. Terry Blevins officiating.

Otey Ellis Hammock
Mr. Otey Ellis Hammock, of Clays Mill Road, Halifax, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 67.
He was born in Halifax County on April 27, 1937.
He was the son of James Daniel Hammock and Marie Ednes Tuck Hammock.
Mr. Hammock is survived by: four brothers, Ollie Stafford Hammock of Halifax, Kenneth Lee Hammock of Clays Mill, John Wayne Hammock of Halifax and Earl Thomas Hammock of Brookneal; three sisters, Rachel Jeannette Clay of Halifax, Margaret Arlene Morton of Charlotte Court House and Francis St John of Gladys; a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mary Elizabeth Scott Hairston
Mary Elizabeth Scott Hairston, 50, of 21025 L.P. Bailey Highway, Nathalie, died August 1, 2004 in South Boston.
Mrs. Hairston was born March 11, 1954, in Halifax County the daughter of the late Sam and Lona Davis Scott, and was married to the Rev. Bobby Hairston. She was a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church in Nathalie.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Elissa Yolanda Hairston; one stepdaughter, Bonita Hoover and her husband, Alvin, of Lexington, N.C.; one stepson, Bobby Hairston Jr. of Lexington; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, J.J. Scott and his wife, Betty, of Rustburg, William Scott of Nathalie, and Leon Scott and wife, Dorothy, of Mobile, Ala.; and her mother-in-law, Tossie Mae Davis of Lexington.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hairston will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow, August 5, at New Shiloh Baptist Church in Nathalie with the Rev. Rodney Forrest officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Arthur Kendrick Hite
Arthur Kendrick Hite, 85, of Clarksville, husband of Shannon Tillotson Hite, died July 27, 2004 in South Boston.
Born in the Buffalo Springs area, he was the son of Steven Bedford and Emma Owen Hite.
Retired from Burlington Industries, Mr. Hite was a deacon and trustee of Antioch Baptist Church and served on the cemetery committee.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 30 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hite is survived by a daughter, Judy Hite Williams of Chase City; one son, Wendell Kendrick Hite of South Boston; sisters, Josie Jones of Clarksville and Lottie Boyd of South Boston; grandchildren, Wendy Lee Knott, Stuart Kendrick Hite, Elaine Kelly Bluhm, Rhonda W. Witt; and great-grandchildren, Kelsey Lee Knott, Allie Bluhm, Erich Bluhm, Danielle Witt and Darcy Witt.
Michael Leroy Isenberg
Michael Leroy Isenberg, 64, of Raleigh, N.C., died Sunday, August 1, 2004.
He was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. C. L. Isenberg of Saxton, PA.
Mr. Isenberg attended Mercersburg Academy, received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and his law degree from West Virginia University, and was employed for 32 years with Nationwide Insurance as a claims attorney.
Mr. Isenberg is survived by his wife Elizabeth 'Billie'; a daughter, Betsy Rozakis and her husband, Lee; his son, Michael Isenberg Jr.; and two grandchildren, Stephen and Anne Rozakis, all of Raleigh.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. August 3 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home. Burial followed at 3 p.m, at Mercy Seat Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Sutherlin.

Elaine West Johnson
Elaine West Johnson of Hampton, formerly of South Boston, died August 7, 2004 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Richmond.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Drakes Branch the daughter of the late William Sherman West and Alberta Greene West. She was a member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Diane J. Beatty and son-in-law, Dr. Thomas H. Beatty of Glen Allen; a sister, Mary West Coleman of Clover; granddaughter, Elaine Clark of New York, N.Y.; step-granddaughters, Lauren and Joy Beatty, both of Glen Allen; a brother-in-law, James P. Barnes of Charlotte, N.C.; her caregiver, Pleasie Beatty.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter N. Johnson Sr.; a son, Hunter N. Johnson Jr.; two sisters, Ellen West Capiz and Alberta West Barnes; and a brother, James Winston West.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, August 12 at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Halifax with Father David Booher officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthews Baptist Church Cemetery in Clover.

Bernice Lamb Lipford
Bernice Lamb Lipford, 64, of 1101 Ash Avenue, South Boston, died July 29, 2004 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Lipford was born in Rockingham County, N.C. on July 20, 1940, the daughter of Roland Lamb and Mary Charity Filyaw Lamb and was married to the late Phillip Owen Lipford.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Edward Spell of Mt. Laurel; one grandchild, Clayton Spell of Mt. Laurel; one sister, Marjorie Davis of Morehead City, N.C.; three brothers, Tillman ‘Dinker’ Lamb of Hillsboro, N.C., Lawrence ‘Buck’ Lamb of Lake City, S.C., and Larry Lamb of Illinois. She was preceded in death by one brother, Hammy Lamb; and one sister, Gertrude Michael.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lipford were held August 1 at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Vance Midgett conducting the service. Burial followed in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

Harvey Lee Lipscomb, Sr.
Mr. Harvey Lee Lipscomb, Sr., of Hankins Loop Road, South Boston, died on July 29, 2004, at his residence at the age of 65.
Funeral services for Mr. Lipscomb will be held Tuesday, August 3, at 2 p.m., with services at First Baptist Church in News Ferry.
The Rev. Ronnie King will conduct the service.
Burial will follow in the Lipscomb family plot.

Mr. Lipscomb is survived by; a son, Harvey Lee Lipscomb, Jr. and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Rose Lipscomb of South Boston; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, other relatives and friends.
