Lollie Fuqua Coleman, 91, of 5147 Halifax Road, Halifax, died October 11, 2004 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Coleman was born in Bedford County on September 3, 1913, the daughter of Peyton Fuqua and Alsie City Fuqua and was married to the late Raymond Paul Coleman. She was a member of Dan River Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Gene Raymond Coleman and wife, Charlotte, of Halifax; one granddaughter, Joni Fitzgerald and husband, Henry, of Virginia Beach; one grandson, Raymond Paul Coleman of Chester; three great-granddaughters, Chrissy Coleman and Katie Coleman, both of Williamsburg, and Katherine Fitzgerald of Virginia Beach; one great-grandson, William Fitzgerald of Virginia Beach; and two sisters, Melva Church of Richmond and Albertoli Witt of Stafford.
Funeral services for Mrs. Coleman will be held today, October 13, at 2 p.m. at Dan River Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Bessie King Duffer
Bessie King Duffer, 74, of 103 Rosehill Drive, South Boston, died October 11, 2004 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Duffer was born on February 5, 1930, in Halifax County, and was married to John Randolph Duffer, who survives. She was a member of Dan River Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held today, October 13 at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Gibson officiating.

Vivian Ann Garland
Vivian Ann Garland, 58, of Philpott Road, South Boston, died October 9, 2004.
Miss Garland was born in Halifax County on May 10, 1946, the daughter of Alfred L. Garland and the late Sarah Carrington Garland. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and was a former employee of Halifax Regional Hospital.
Her survivors include her father of South Boston; one brother, Wayne Garland; sister-in-law, Pam Garland; one nephew, Terez Garland; one niece, Taryn Garland, all of South Boston; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Miss Garland will be held today, October 13, at 1 p.m. at Cross Roads Baptist with the Rev. Dennis White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Yvette Davis Green
Yvette Davis Green, 43, of Riverdale Drive, South Boston, died October 10, 2004 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Green was born in Halifax County on June 17, 1961, the daughter of Carroll Davis Williams and the late Floyd Sutphin, and was married to Johnnie Green. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, DeAnna Green of South Boston; her mother of South Boston; two sisters, Frederica Scott of Halifax and Sonya Vass of South Boston; two brothers, Floyd Jeffrey Davis of South Boston and Howard Vass of Danville; six stepchildren, Pauline Robinson, Joseph Green, Earl T. Green, Jeanette Wyatt, Calvin Green and Thomas Green.
Funeral services for Mrs. Green will be held October 15 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

David Lawson Henderson
David Lawson Henderson, 85, of 2180 Love Shop Road, Halifax, died October 12, 2004 at his home.
Mr. Henderson was born in Halifax County on April 3, 1919, the son of Letcher David Henderson and Ola Amanda James Henderson and was married to the late Mary Louise Puryear Henderson. He was a member of Oak Level Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, October 14, at 11 a.m. at Oak Level Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors of Mr. Henderson include three daughters, Shirley Elliott and husband, Lafell, of Halifax, Margaret Elliott and husband, Kennerly, of Halifax, and Mary Elizabeth Henderson of Bristol; one sister-in-law, Raye Henderson of Vernon Hill; three grandchildren, Scottie Elliott and David Elliott, both of Halifax, and Alice Bond and husband, the Rev. Michael Bond, of Durham, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Reuben and Ryan Bond of Durham.

James Kelly Jordan
James Kelly Jordan, 79, of Roxboro, N.C., died October 10, 2004 at UNC Hospital.
Mr. Jordan was the son of the late James Angus and Eggie Faircloth Jordan and husband of the late Marion New Jordan. He retired from Electric Appliance and was a member of Long Memorial Untied Methodist Church. Mr. Jordan served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Jordan of Roxboro; and a niece and nephew.
Funeral services for Mr. Jordan will be held today, October 13, at 2 p.m. at Brooks & White Chapel in Roxboro, with the Revs. David Chambers and Mike Frese officiating. Burial will follow in Burchwood Cemetery.

James Franklin Jackson
James Franklin Jackson, 95, of 103 Rosehill Drive, South Boston, died October 12, 2004 at The Woodview.
Mr. Jackson was born in Halifax County on January 19, 1909, the son of the late Martin Franklin Jackson and Lizzie Cliborne Jackson, and was married to the late Doris Thomas Jackson. He was a member of Alton Baptist Church, and was a self-employed farmer.
Funeral services will be held at Alton Baptist Church October 15, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors of Mr. Jackson include one son, Danny F. Jackson and his wife, Connie, of Alton; one daughter, Janelle J. Hudson of Halifax; two granddaughters, Lydia Dunklalo and her husband, John, of Smithfield and Megan Jackson of Knoxville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Fil Hudson and his wife, Tammy, of Wilmington, N.C. and Chad Jackson of Fairfax; and one great-grandson, Nicholas Hudson.

Vivian Lowery Martin
Vivian Lowery Martin, 81, of 2188 Virgie Cole Road, South Boston, died October 11, 2004 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Martin was born in Halifax County on September 28, 1923, the daughter of the late Evie Lowery and Annie Cole Lowery, and was married to the late Lew C. Martin. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle where she was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the Ladies Fellowship. She was retired from Sales Knitting.
Services will be held at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel today, October 13, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Survivors of Mrs. Martin include one son, Perry Martin and his wife, Wanda, of South Boston; one daughter, Vickie C. Martin of South Boston; one son-in-law, John E. Woody of Richmond; one sister, Thelma L. Best of Fla.; five brothers, Ralph Lowery of South Boston, Aubrey Lowery and Chester Lowery, both of Virgilina, Emmett Lowery and Lindy Lowery, both of Richmond; one grandson, Mitch Martin; and two granddaughters, Emily Sanford and Christie Woody.
Mrs. Martin was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra M. Woody; two sisters, Hilda Lowery and Nell L. Bowen; and four brothers, Otis, Floyd, Page and Gus Lowery.
Wanda Wilson Maxey
Wanda Wilson Maxey, 56, of Detroit, Mi., formerly of South Boston, died October 3, 2004.
Mrs. Maxey was born July 14, 1948, the daughter of Edward Wilson Sr. of Newark, N.J. and Alice Gilbert Owens of South Boston. She was married to the late Dr. Harold Maxey.
Survivors include one son, McArthur Maxey of Detroit and his wife, Deverette; two grandsons, Arani Migal Maxey and Everette Louis Maxey; her mother and father; two brothers, Edward Wilson Jr. and Stanley Wilson, both of South Boston; and one sister, Andrea McCraw of South Boston.
A memorial service for Mrs. Maxey was held October 8 at 11 a.m. at Ellis Memorial Funeral Home in Detroit.
Thomas Burton Richardson
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Burton Richardson will be held Saturday at 12 noon at the White Oak Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Faulkner and Rev. Hayward Jennings officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Richardson of Ridge Street in South Boston, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
He was 50.
Mr. Richardson was born in Halifax County on March 9, 1954 and was married to Zelda Suzette Tuck Richardson.
He was a member of the White Oak Fork Baptist Church and was a former employee of Burlington Industries in Clarksville.
Mr. Richardson is survived by: his wife, Zelda Suzette Richardson; his mother, Annie Richardson of Virgilina; his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Brenda C. Richardson of South Boston; a god-daughter, Aquina Lee of Upper Marboro, Md.; his father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Jessie Tuck of Virgilina; two brothers-in-law, Clarence Tuck and wife Barbara Tuck of Virgilina and William Patrick and wife Samatha Patrick of South Boston; four uncles; six aunts; and a host of nephews, other relatives and friends.
Annie Clark Armistead
Annie Clark Armistead, 99, of South Boston, died October 13, 2004 at Somerset.
Mrs. Armistead was born April 10, 1905, in Mecklenburg County the daughter of George Wesley Clark Sr. and Mary Alice Smalley Clark, and was married to the late Lawrence Lewis Armistead.
She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was pianist and taught Sunday school for 25 years. Mrs. Armistead was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 8 Auxiliary, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Clarksville #145, and was a former bookkeeper with Southern Railroad.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel today, October 15, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Tim Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Earlie Presley Blanks Sr.
Earlie Presley Blanks Sr., 96, of 2103 Mountain Road, Halifax, died October 12, 2004 at The Woodview.
Mr. Blanks was born in Halifax County on May 6, 1908, the son of Charles H. Blanks and Nannie Motley Blanks, and was married to the late Georgia Wilburn Blanks. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church where he was past deacon and past treasurer.
Survivors include one daughter, Hilda Redline of Venice, Fla; one son, Earlie P. Blanks Jr. of Ridgeway; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Blanks will be held October 17 at 2 p.m. at County Line Baptist Church with the Rev. John Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Daisy Mae Hooker Vaughan
Daisy Mae Hooker Vaughan, 59, of 1072 Memorial Drive, South Boston died October 11, 2004, at her home.
Mrs. Vaughan was born in Halifax County on January 21, 1945, the daughter of the late Chester Alton Hooker and Patricia Bagley Hooker, and was married to the late Ronald Vaughan. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held October 17 at 1 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors of Mrs. Vaughan include one son, Jermaine Lee Vaughan of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Victoria Jackson of South Boston; one daughter-in-law, Christine Vaughan; two adopted sisters, Inez Myles and Clarine Hill.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alton and Sylvester Hooker; and one sister, Marion Chappell.

Mrs. Miller, of Ridge Road in Vernon Hill, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
She was the daughter of Rufus Owen Strange and Nannie Elma Strange and was married to John Thornton Miller Sr.
Mrs. Miller is survived by: a daughter, Margaret K. Watkins of Richmond; three sons, Malcolm Owen Kindley and wife Paula of King William, William Ervin Kindley and wife Paulette of New Site, Miss. and John Thornton Miller of Vernon Hill; four grandchildren, Leslie Presti of King William, Brad Burkhardt of Portland, Bryan Justin Kindley of Midlothian and Ryan Paul Kindley of King William.

Mr. Hudson, of Cluster Springs Road in Alton, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at Halifax Regional Hospital.
He was 26.
Mr. Hudson was born in Greenville, N.C. on December 26, 1977, the son of Gary Lynn Hudson Sr. and Shirley Pruitt Hudson, both of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. He was married to Christy Roberts Hudson.
Mr. Hudson was a millwright for Piedmont Maintenance Service and a member of the Revelation Baptist Church.
He is survived by: two sons, Ridge Lynn and Dalton Ray Hudson of Alton; a daughter, Brianna Angelee Hudson of Alton; two brothers, Raymond Eugene Hudson of Roanoke Rapids and Gregory Lane Hudson of Mt. Laurel; his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Christine Pruitt of Alton; his paternal grandmother, Inez Watts of Roanoke Rapids, and his paternal grandfather, Eugene Joseph Hudson.
Rebecca Briscoe Phelps
Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Biscoe Phelps will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Brooks Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Phelps of High Rock Trail in Vernon Hill, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at the Riverside Health and Rehab Center.
She was 43.
Mrs. Phelps was the daughter of Gladys W. Briscoe and the late Joe Buck Briscoe of Vernon Hill. She was married to the late George Allen Phelps.
She was a member of the Grundy Church of Christ in Grundy.
Mrs. Phelps is survived by: two sons, Jason R. Phelps and wife Cristal of Halifax and Kyle M. Phelps of Mineral; a daughter, Amber D. Phelps of Mineral; two sisters, Diane VanBuren of Mineral and Sally Evans of Vernon Hill and a brother, Joseph J. Briscoe of Vernon Hill.
