WILLIAMS, Ira Wilson
Ira Wilson Williams, 84, of 7448 Epsons Road, Gladys, went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 19, 2004. He was the husband of the late Bernice Ferguson Williams. Mr. Williams was born in Campbell County, June 13, 1919, the son of the late Henry Hudnall Williams and Abbie Trent Williams. He was a life-long member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board, cemetery Committee and the Building Committee. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, serving with the 100th Bombardment Squadron, an active member of the Long Island Ruritan Club, and the Brookneal Oddfellows Lodge. He is survived by one son, Larry W. Williams and wife, Linda of Smith Mountain Lake; one daughter, Amy Jo Bowers and husband John of Gladys; four grandchildren, Christie Moore and husband Dan of Richmond, Scott Miller and wife Kimberly of Charlotte, North Carolina, Tanya Fralin and husband Steve of Blue Ridge, Tracy Moon of Lynchburg; four great-grandsons, Andrew Fralin, Cameron Fralin, Brandon Miller, Bryan Moore; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sonya Leigh Williams. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, February 22, 2004 at Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Emory with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home, Brookneal and will be at the residence at Epsons Rd., Gladys, at other times. A special thanks to Sandy Collins, his friend and nurse, and the wonderful folks at Bedford Hospice. Memorials may be made to the Bedford Hospice, Bedford, Va. or Ebenezer Baptist Church, Naruna, Va.

KORB, Wilma Ernestine
Wilma Ernestine Korb, 87, formerly of Bloomville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2004. She was born September 2, 1916 in Leo County, Indiana, to the late Rev. Ernest J. and Lula M. (Erwin) Maupin. She married
Howard E. Korb on August 5, 1950. He preceded her in death April 27, 1990. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by one brother and two sisters. Mrs. Korb was a Practical Nurse, caregiver, and homemaker who was a member of Our Masters Chapel in Benton, Ohio. She was also a member of Hall Methodist Church in Elliston, Va. and a graduate of the Chicago School of Nursing. She loved to work in her garden and do canning of vegetables and fruits. Surviving are her children, Mr. Philip Korb of Belleville, Illinois, Mr. Daniel Korb of Apopka, Fla., Mr. Samuel Korb of Apopka, Fla., Patricia Korb of Elliston, Va., Wilma Korb of Buchanan, Va., Mr. James Korb of Elliston, Va.; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Charles McGlone officiating. Burial to follow at Benton cemetery, Crawford County, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Albert Fielding Jones, 83, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 20, 2004. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church since 1952, serving on many committees as a Sunday School teacher and Chairman of Deacons. He was President and owner of Roanoke Woodworking Corp. in Salem and Hardwood Furniture Parts in Blackstone, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Salem Frame Co., Vice President of Rowe Furniture Corp., President of Hardwood Dimensions Manufacturers Association, President of Salem/Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce, recipient of the Silver Beaver from the American Boy Scouts, named Outstanding Board Member by the Salem Jaycees, board member First Federal Savings & Loan, Roanoke for 30 years, President of Goodwill Industries, honorary member of Virginia Tech Monogram Club, Lifetime member of Virginia Tech Foundation, was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Shriners. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Gaynelle Mitchell Jones. Surviving are his daughter, Sandra J. Bradley, Roanoke; sons, Albert F. Jones, Jr., Michigan, David Jones and his wife, Diane, N.C., Eric Jones and his wife, Susan, Martinsville; grandchildren, Rob Bradley, Burlington, N.C., Mike and Lezlie Snyder, Roanoke, Wes and Melissa Bradley, Roanoke, Whitney, Lindsey, Natalie and Owen Jones, Raleigh, N.C., Zachary Jones, Roanoke, Meagan Jones and fiance, Mark DeLong, Roanoke; great-grandchildren, Madeline Bradley and Olivia Snyder, Roanoke; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Zydiak, Jackson, Miss., Corabelle and Harry Remele, Hudson, Fla.; sister-in-law, Doris D. Jones, Roanoke; also many cousins. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, February 23, 2004 at Sherwood Memorial Park. A celebration of Al's life will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Everett Kier officiating.
