Reatha Tuck McCroskey, 56, of Botetourt County, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 17, 2004. Reatha was a receptionist with Professional Electrolysis, and was a member of Christ's Church at Northside. She was preceded in death by her sons, Matthew David and Stephen Paul McCroskey; her mother, Juanita A. Tuck; and her step-mother, Wadie K. Tuck. Surviving is her husband of 37 years, Allan L. McCroskey; her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Anne McCroskey of Daleville; her father, Buford E. Tuck of Danville; her brother, Glenn E. Tuck and wife, Judy, of Williamsburg; her nephew, Brian Tuck of Williamsburg; and her best friend, Enid Zysk, of Catawba. A funeral service will be held at Christ's Church at Northside, 5110 Florist Road, N.W., Friday, August 20, 2004 at 1 p.m. with Jim Foringer and Clyde Dalton officiating. Interment
will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Barbara Hall Reynolds, 72, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 18, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Paul W. Reynolds, her mother, father, sisters and a brother. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Shelley and Mike Tabor of Hardy, Paula Moore and Donald Wiseley of Roanoke, Jennifer and Lou Schott of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, Jason Reynolds of Roanoke; grandchildren, Michael and Zachary Tabor, Jessica Reynolds, and Sarah Grace Schott; cousin, Daphne Frye of Saltville, Va.; a number of nieces and nephews, including Frank and Wanda Reynolds and their daughters Lucy and Janet, Ray and Linda Reynolds, all of New Castle, and Sharon Reynolds of Roanoke; and close friends, Hilda Graybill and Colleen Spradlin. WRIGHT, Robert Halstead
Robert Halstead Wright, 99, of Hardy, Va. and formerly of Bloomfield, N.J., died Wednesday, August 18, 2004 in Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. He was born June 11, 1905 in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Dr. Halstead Wright and Inez Shellabarger Wright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Kenney Wright; a son, Robert H. Wright, Jr.; and a daughter, Judith Mead. Mr. Wright is survived by three children, Susan Cohen, Carol Althoff and John Wright of Bloomfield, NJ; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. Roy Franklin Demory, of Floyd, born March 7, 1943 to Carl and Eunice Demory in Alexandria, Virginia, left this life suddenly on August 18, 2004. He is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by Nancy Allen Demory, his wife of 38 years. Roy, called Tommy by his family, leaves his sisters, Leilani "Lani" Williamson and her husband, Jim, of Luray, Va., Georgia "Polly" Wilmer and her husband, John, of Crimora, Va. and Candace "Candy" Rountree of Otis, Kan. He leaves his little brother, Carl "Eddy" Demory and his wife, Bonnie, of Lyndhurst, Va. He leaves sisters-in-law, Janet Chin and her husband, Gabriel, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Susan Collins of Charlottesville, Va.; and brothers-in-law, Mark Allen and wife, June of Salem, Va., and David Allen of Lexington and Floyd and his friend Diane Bell of Washington, DC. He leaves nieces, Susan Brown and her husband, Jimmy, Carrie Wilmer, Christine Law and husband, John, Erin Gomez and husband, Dennis; and nephews James Williamson and his wife, Kimberly, and Carl Rountree. He leaves grand-nieces, Georgia Brown, Demory and Annabelle Williamson, and Kendra Gomez; and grand-nephews, Hunter McMillon and Carson Law. He leaves also one surviving uncle, Calvin Demory of Lancaster, Va.; and cousins, Nancy's nieces and nephews and their children, and many friends. Roy met Nancy at Ferrum College on November 13, 1963 and let her know shortly thereafter that they would travel the rest of his life together. His working life was spent in public service as a Recreation Therapist at Eastern State Hospital, Williamsburg, Va., as a Sergeant on the Police Department of Lawrence, Kansas, as an officer with George Mason University Police in Fairfax, Va., and as an Inspector and Supervisor with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs. Roy loved fleamarkets, collecting stuff, the Redskins, his dogs, Floyd County, his friends, his family, and life. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Hebron Quesenberry officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Gardner Funeral Home. RHODES, Gladys Hundley
Gladys Hundley Rhodes, formerly of Galax, Va., passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the Oaks of Lynchburg, Va., where she had been a resident for the past three years. She was the wife of the late Posey Franklin Rhodes. Mrs. Rhodes was born in Henry County on March 10, 1911, a daughter of the late Caroline Jamison Hundley and Dudley Marshall Hundley. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Galax, Va. for 58 years and loved the church. She counted the offering for 25 years and was involved in numerous other activities in the church. Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Galax Garden Club, Lioness, and volunteered at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was an ardent bridge player and was affectionately known as "Miss 3-No Trump." She played golf until she was 80. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara L. Eanes and husband, Col. M. Earl Eanes, Ret., of Lynchburg, Va.; son, James Franklin Rhodes of Ridgeville, S.C.; sisters, Lorene H. Clary and husband, Timothy W. Clary, Sr., of Hillsville, Va., Imogene H. Lingo of Baltimore, Md.; seven grandchildren, Chip, Becky, Dru, David, Leigh, Carolyn and Beth; ten great-grandchildren, Jami, Scott, Sydney, Nicholas, Richard, Emily, Alex, Matthew, Evan and Jason; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a very special devoted friend, Pearl Dixon. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mildred "Pete" Whitmer Stull, 92, of Rich Patch Road, Covington, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 19, 2004. Mrs. Stull was a longtime member of the Rich Patch Union Church, the Women of the Church, and the Widows Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest James Stull and infant daughter, Brenda Ray Stull. Mrs. Templeton was born on September 2, 1927 in Rockbridge Co., and was a daughter of the late John Lewis Austin and Martha Ellen Price Austin. She was a member of the Spring Valley Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress with Jane Colby. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Graham Templeton, Sr. Mrs. Templeton is survived by two daughters, Esther T. Alls and husband, Jerry, of Roanoke, Lisa T. Carickhoff and husband, Wayne, of Harrisonburg; one son, John G. Templeton, Jr. and wife, Karen, of Fairfield; one sister, Lettie Mae Hayslett of Natural Bridge Station; four grandchildren, Jason Carickhoff and wife, Jennifer, Erica Carickhoff, Melissa Alls, and Jerry Wayne Alls; and three great-grandchildren.
