Albert M. (Casey) Dunbar, 74, of Fincastle, passed away on August 11, 2004. Jeffrey A. (Jeff) Jones, 47, of Roanoke, died Thursday evening, August 12, 2004 at his home. Jeff had worked for Taylor Siding and did landscaping for Boones Mill Nursery. He was preceded in death by his father, Randolph J. Jones and his special friend, Bob Pedigo. Surviving is his mother, Geraldine O. Jones of Roanoke; his sisters, Janet Hunter, Susan Sifuentes, both of Roanoke; his brother, Allen (Tony) Jones and Theresa Crigger, of Vinton; his second mother, Sharon Webb of Roanoke; Mack White, Sr., who was like a father to Jeff; nieces, Julie Bruner and husband, Bryan, Amy Jones and John Gillespie; a great-niece, Adrian Gillespie; a greatnephew, Hunter Bruner; his best friend, Eric Pedigo; and the love of his life, Lisa Pedigo; his special friends, Jimmy Meador, David Helms, David Williams, Jimmy Dunbar, Greg Taylor, David Hairfield, Steve (Oscar) Myers and Scott Layman; and all his friends at M&D's Restaurant. LAMBERT, Lewis James, Sr.
Lewis James Lambert, Sr., age 66, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Friendship Manor Nursing Home following an extended battle with cancer. Lewis was born in Roanoke on May 1, 1939, a son of the late Hallie D. and Audrey Mae Brown Lambert Ratcliff. He was a member of the Army National Guard. Lewis was devoted to his sons; he loved to fish and truly enjoyed old western movies. He loved the Sunday morning services and music at Lakeview Retirement home. Lewis was a 39 year employee of Saunders Dental Labs. Lewis is survived by ex-wife, Jean Custer of Catawba; and five sons, Lewis, Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Roanoke, William and wife, Rhonda, of Hardy, Alan and wife, Wanda, of Salem, Kevin and wife, Shirley, of Roanoke, and Scott and wife, Lisa Lambert, of Blue Ridge. He is also survived by two step children, Frank and wife, Cookie Miller of Hardy and Donna Scarbro of Salem. He has two surviving brothers, Aubrey and wife, Margaret, and Roy A. and wife, Betty Lambert of Roanoke. There are five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service celebrating Lewis' life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 16, 2004 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. McNEACE, Lewis Barnhart
Lewis Barnhart McNeace, 99, of Roanoke, died Friday, August 13, 2004 after a long illness. Born May 11, 1905, he was the son of Wallace Martin McNeace and Clara Barnhart McNeace. During his teen and young adult years, Lewis was actively interested in and associated with the Boy Scout program. He merited and received numerous honors and recognitions during his years in scouting. He was a graduate of Roanoke City High School, received his bachelors degree from Roanoke College, his Master's degree from VPI and State University and had a year of graduate study from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For 43 years he was employed by Roanoke City Schools, serving for 22 years as teacher and sports coach at Woodrow Wilson Junior High, 4 years as Activities and Athletics Director at Jefferson High, and 17 years as principal of Stonewall Jackson Junior High School. During those years, Mr. McNeace was active in educational affair serving one term as President of the Roanoke City Education Association, and several terms as President/Chairman of the Roanoke City and District Departments of Principals, Supervisors, and Administrators. After his retirement, he was for many years, actively engaged in the affairs of the Retired Teachers Association, serving as President of the Local and District P units. He also held official positions in the Virginia and National Retired Teacher Associations, for eight years serving as Secretary for the Joint State Legislative Committee of NRTA/AARP. Mr. McNeace was a member of the Roanoke Host Lions Club, the Thursday Morning Music Club, the Salem Historical Society and the Roanoke Valley Historical Association. A long time member of First Presbyterian Church, he was a Deacon and Elder, for many years serving in volunteer capacities. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elsie Bolton McNeace. He is survived by his son, Lewis B. McNeace, Jr. of Richlands and his fiancee, Jo Nichols. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with Rev. Robert Smith and Rev. Robert Ward officiating. Interment

WIMBUSH, Mary Madeline
Mary Madeline Wimbush, 86, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center. She was born December 25, 1917 to the late Samuel and Nancy Jumper Moore. At an early age, Mary joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church now known as Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She graduated from Lucy Addison High School in 1938. She married
the late Raleigh Wimbush and moved to Philadelphia, Penn. Mary belonged to the Missionary Circle and Culture Club. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Juliet Smith of Jamaica, N.Y.; one son, Raleigh Wimbush, Jr. of Philadelphia, Penn.; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Hall of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Gladys Jordan and Mrs. Dolly Preston both of Roanoke, Va.; 13 grandchildren; and a host of greatgrandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2004 in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel. Dr. Cedric Malone will officiate. The interment will be in Williams Memorial Park. Cora T. Campbell, 105, of Boones Mill, passed away Friday, August 13, 2004. She was the widow of Frank L. Campbell; and predeceased by a daughter, Lois Roach; a daughter and son-in-law, Claudine and Carl Barker; and great-great-grandsons, Ryan Doll and Cole Powers. Mrs. Campbell was a charter member of First Church of God, Hildebrand Road, Roanoke. Fulfilling God's purpose for her life, Letitia Sallie Hall Shelor, passed from this life surrounded by family and friends, into her eternal reward, on Tuesday, August 10, 2004. She had courageously battled cancer for more than a year. Born on September 17, 1949 in Roanoke, Virginia, Sallie attended Cave Spring High School and lived most of her adult life in Boones Mill, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father, John Hall; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jessie and Ellen Shelor. Sallie is survived by her adoring family, her husband of 35 years, Larry Shelor; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Tim Dye, Jeanette and Michael Turner, Denise and Ryan DeForest; son, Jesse Shelor; and her greatest joy in life, her grandchildren, Dustan, Andrew and Samantha Turner, Ricky and John Ryan DeForest, Luke Dye and baby Benjamin Dye on the way. Sallie is also survived by her mother, Addie Hall, brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Janet Hall, Charles and Rhonda Hall; sisters and brothersin-law, Patricia and Billy Keatts, Marie and Doug Bishop; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Linda and Charlie Richards, Audrey and Don Maddox, Elaine and Mike Rigney, Dana and Bob Brown, Vickie and Gary Clark; a special aunt, Gloria Achilles; a host of nephews and nieces; special friends; and her church family at New Hope Christian Church. Sallie was a mother and grandmother figure to many, keeping children in her home over the years, some from infancy to their teenage years. A poet and artist, she wrote poetry for her church and silly songs for her children and grandchildren; designed wedding bouquets for friends and family; and created lovely drawings of children, angels, and storybook characters. Sallie's trust and belief in God throughout her entire life and especially during her illness was an example of faith to everyone around her. Once described by a friend as an "angel on earth", she will live on in our hearts. A celebration of her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at New Hope Christian Church in Roanoke,Virginia. Interment
will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2004 and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2004 at Lotz Funeral Home on Franklin Road in Roanoke. Iva Lillian Morgan, formerly of Copper Hill, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2004. At 90 years young, and known for her wittiness, she was a devoted wife and mother of seven children; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Copper Hill Church of the Brethren and was a Sunday School teacher and a long time faithful member of the Women's Fellowship. Born March 14, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Elizabeth (Betty) Conner. She is preceded in death also by her husband, Robert (Bob) Morgan; three brothers, Lee, Sam and Woodrow Conner; five sisters, Pauline Rakes, Goldie Bartlett, Mabel Poff, Hazel Ferris and Virginia Conner; two sons-in-law, Alton Shaver and Walter (Bob) Poff. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Wilburn Harris (Will) and Diane Morgan of Hardy and Robert (Bobby) and Joan Morgan of Roanoke; and five daughters and three sons-in-law, Ruby Poff, Sylvia and Wayne Wimmer of Salem, Betty Shaver of Roanoke, Phyllis and Richard Phillips of Richmond, Dorma and Lowell Yeatts of Check. She is also survived by four sisters, two brothers-in-law, Dexter Sowers and Bonnie and Arthur Conner of Copper Hill, Velva Harris Davis of Roanoke, Georgianna and Leon Link of Bristol, Tenn. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. We loved her very much and will miss her dearly. The family wishes to especially thank the staff at Raleigh Court Health Care Center for their loving care.
