Patricia Ann Chisholm
Patricia Ann Chisholm, 63, of Fairfax, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Fairfax Hospital. She was born, Aug. 16, 1938, in Fairfax, daughter of the late Ralph Jaquess and Opal Hall.
She is survived by her husband, Hillary R. "Hill" Chisholm; four children, Ralph S. Johnson of Fairfax, Cheryl Johnson Cole of Ashburn, Kevin R. Chisholm of Fairfax, and Kenneth H. Chisholm of Providence, R.I.; two brothers, R. Marshall Jaquess of Augusta, Ga., and Ryan M. Jaquess of Coeburn; one sister, Lynn Jaquess Pahl of Summerville, S.C.; one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.
She was a graduate of Fairfax High School in 1956.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this afternoon in the Chapel of Hill & Wood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lindsay Ellis officiating. Interment
will follow at the family cemetery in Woodridge.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Fred Clinton Dalton
Fred Clinton Dalton, MD, 80, of Churchville, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at his residence.
Born May 14, 1922, in Deerborne, Mich., he was a son of Ernest and Sarah (Quick) Dalton.
He was a psychiatrist for many years in New York and Virginia.
Surviving is his wife, Agnes Farrell Dalton; two daughters, Cora Sue Dalton of Long Beach, N.Y. and Sarah C. Shorroch of Northport, Long Island, N.Y.; a stepson, Phillip Juliano of Richmond; a stepdaughter, Marilee Newman of Stanardsville; and a brother, Wesley Dalton of Deerborne, Mich.
A service will be 11 a.m. Thursday morning in Grace Episcopal Church, with burial in Culpeper National cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison.

Wilton Maxine Gale
Wilton Maxine Gale, 90, of Charlottesville, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, in a local hospital.
Born Dec. 28, 1911, in St. Joseph, Mich., she was the daughter of the late William and Rose Rexroth Fuller.
She was retired from IBM as a secretary.
Survivors include her husband, William Gale of Charlottesville; her daughter, Patricia Meldrom of Arnold, Md.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Hill & Wood Chapel, with James Cox officiating. Interment
will be private.

John E. Hopkins
John Edwards Hopkins, 47, of Gordonsville, formerly of Orange, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at his residence.
Born Dec. 11, 1954, in Charlottesville, he was the son of Elijah Hopkins of Orange and the late Corrine Hopkins.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister, Caroline Hopkins; and five brothers, David Mark Hopkins, Michael Anthony Hopkins, Elijah Fleming Hopkins, Frankie Hopkins, and Robert Louis Hopkins.
Along with his father, he is survived by one daughter, Jote Corrine Hopkins of Orange; two sons, Jason Marcellus Sims and John Edward Hopkins Jr., both of Orange; four brothers, William Hamilton Hopkins, Allen Randolph Hopkins, Jimmy Henry Hopkins, and Dennis Hopkins, all of Orange; two sisters, Rita Renee Dade and Deborah Lynn Porter, both of Orange; and one grandchild, K-Juan McCloud.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the Preddy Funeral Chapel in Orange with interment in Westview cemetery. The Rev. John Reid will officiate.

Priscilla Martin King, 76, of Louisa, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at the home of her daughter, Cheryl Ann Burrill.

Doris Drach Laverty
Doris Margaret Drach Laverty, 83, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 8, 2002.
Doris resided in Earlysville for 32 years, and lived with her daughter, Carole M. Laverty Shifflett and her husband, Al, of Free Union, for the past three years, She died peacefully at their home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, her son, and her grandson.
She leaves to cherish loving memories her daughter; her son, Martin J. Laverty Jr. and his wife, Wanda, of Earlysville; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Doris was a faithful and active member of Holy Comforter Catholic Church. She served for many years as a Sacristan and Minister of the Eucharist. Doris dearly loved her church.
The family wishes to express heart-felt thanks to Dr. Michael E. Santulli and to the Hospice of the Piedmont for their kindness and support during the time Doris dealt with Alzheimer's disease.

Elna Byram White
Elna Daniel Byram White, 84, of Madison, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 16, 1917, in Madison County, the daughter of the late Emmett Daniel and Martha Lillard Daniel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James N. Byram; a brother, Mason Daniel; and two sisters, Mary Graves Bradfield and Virginia Whitlock.
Mrs. White was a member of Rapidan Baptist Church in Wolftown.
She is survived by her husband, Woodrow W. White of Madison; two sons, James Daniel Byram and his wife, Carolyn, of Madison, and Ronald Curtis Byram and his wife, JoAnne, of Crozet; a stepdaughter, Linda Gigel of Madison; one sister, Margueritte Sutherland of Harrisonburg; three grandchildren, Zane Daniel Byram of Barboursville, Guayna Williams of Radiant, and Robert Scott Byram and his wife, Kelly, of Crozet; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Hazel Brittain Birckhead, 75, of Scottsville, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at a local hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Birckhead; her parents, Stanley and Elizabeth Brittain; and five brothers, Garfield, Calvin, Robert, George, and Bill Brittain.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy B. Noble and her husband, Clarence, of Arvonia; two sons, Freddie "Mack" Birckhead and his friend, Lisa Robinson, and Roger D. Birckhead and his wife, Vicki, all of Scottsville; two sisters, Louise Alvey of Maryland and Elvie Davis of North Carolina; four grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottsville, with the Rev. James C. Jetton officiating.
Interment will follow in Scottsville cemetery.

Thomas I. Johnson
Thomas Isaac Johnson, 87, of Kents Store, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, in the Louisa Healthcare Center.
He was born April 6, 1915, in Fluvanna County, son of the late Isaac and Mattie Brice Johnson. He was the widower of Bessie Johnson.
Thurman was a member of Byrd Grove Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Arlington School System.
He is survived by one brother, Forest Lee Johnson of Kents Store; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
