Miriam L. Bosshard
Miriam Lehman Bosshard, 81, of Keswick, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at her home.
Born March 6, 1921, in York Haven, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Mable Mae Eppley Lehman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Bosshard.
She lived in Franklin Lakes, N.J. for 27 years before moving to Virginia in 1973. She was President of Franklin Lakes Home and School Association and the Ramapo Association of Parents and Teachers and was active in the Franklin Lakes Valley Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Marsha B. Manganini of Oakland, N.J.; a sister, Estella L. Perry of Keswick; three brothers, Howard E. Lehman and Stanley N. Lehman both of York, Pa.; and Clark H. Lehman of Arlington, Texas; and her only grandchild, Michael T. Manganini also of Oakland, N.J.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Hill & Wood Funeral Home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Bloomfield cemetery in New Jersey.

William J. Curtis
William Jackson "Jim" Curtis, 58, of Linden collapsed unexpectedly at work and died shortly thereafter Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.
Mr. Curtis was born Oct. 5, 1944, in Washington D.C., beloved son of Mary Timmons Curtis of Flint Hill and recently Deceased father Walter Jackson Curtis.
He was a 1963 graduate of Lane High School where he participated in football, track, and the choir. He received degrees in business and horticulture from the University of Maryland. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War Stationed in Turkey as an Interpreter.
He was a Landscaper with Professional Grounds, Inc. in northern Virginia. He was an avid golfer and loved working outdoors with plants, flowers, and landscaping.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his devoted brother, Robert W. Curtis and his wife, Sandra Deane Curtis of Tulsa, Okla.; a niece, Tiffany Deane Curtis; and a nephew Joshua Deane Curtis, both of Tulsa Okla., and other loving cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Flint Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Merlin Shorb officiating.

Wilma May Deane, 82, of Quinque, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Bennie F. Deane Sr.

Phyllis T. Hawkins
Phyllis Taylor Hawkins, 80, of Troy, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2002, in a local nursing facility.
Born Jan. 20, 1922, in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Jane Walch Taylor and was the wife of the late Lawrence T. Hawkins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew Hawkins.
Mrs. Hawkins was a bookkeeper with E. A. Holsten, Inc. and was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Michael S. Hawkins; a sister, Anne Birckhead; one grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at the Teague Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Hunter officiating. Interment
will be private.

Kenneth Wayne Shifflett, 43, of Arlington, passed away at his home.
He was born Aug. 5, 1959, a son of the late Elmer Owen Shifflett.
He is survived by his mother, Bernice Morris Wood of Fredericksburg; a stepfather, William Lee Wood of Alexandria; two sisters, Lois Jean Roske and her husband, Marlan of Dale city and Wendy Padgett of Stafford; five brothers, Owen Steve Shifflett and his wife, Sally of Kingstown, William Lee Wood and his wife, Debbie of Alexandria, Gary Lee Wood and his wife, Kathy of Dale City, Randy Bidden and his wife, Renee of Fredericksburg and Jerry Michael Wood and his wife, Susan of Dale City; a number of grandchildren; nieces and nephews; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Church of the Bretheren, with the Rev. C.C. Kurtz officiating. Interment
will be in the church cemetery.

Alma R. Wilkerson
Alma Ragland Wilkerson, 94, of Schuyler, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Wilkerson; her parents, Albert and Sara Ragland; two children, Helen and Wallace; two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include three children, Katherine via and her husband, Ikey of Schuyler, Claudine Banton and her husband, Willie of Williamsburg, and Calvin Wilkerson and his wife, Dale of North Carolina; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and two nieces.
Mrs. Wilkerson was a member of the Schuyler Pentecostal Holiness Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottsville. Interment
will follow at Woodland United Methodist Church cemetery, Buckingham.

Mark Lamont Beecher, 54, of Palm City, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at his home.
A native of Washington D.C., he lived in Palmyra before moving to Palm City, Fla. for one year.
He was an electrical contractor.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Darcy Beecher; his father, David W. Beecher; two daughters, Erin Beecher and Sara Beecher; and his mother-in-law, Anna Rounds, all of Palm City, Fla.

She was the daughter of Mark and Mary Francese Buckner. Also surviving her is her brother, John Powell Buckner of the home; and her paternal grandparents, Jon and Oval Buckner of Candler, N.C.

Shelby J. Lilly, 55, of Troy, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at her home.
She was born Sept. 20, 1947, in Charlottesville, daughter of the late Calvin and Elizabeth Graves.
She was a graduate of Lane High School, a member of the Women of the Moose, Elks Lodge and a member of Colonial Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Edward Lilly of Troy; her children, Calvin Matthew Batten of Troy, Edward Lilly and his wife, Brenda, of North Garden, Dennis Lilly and his wife, Connie, of Charlottesville, and Dennis Scott Lilly II of Troy; two brothers, Ronnie Belew and his wife, Glenda, and Jimmy Jarrell; her great uncle, Nobel G. Ray of Charlottesville; and dear friends Vernon and Debra Wood of Troy.

Ruben Miller, 79, of Orange, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Born in Culpeper on Nov. 22, 1923, he was the son of the late Edward R. and Viola McDaniel Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Emmie Richards Miller of Orange; two daughters, Ruby Deats of Garrisonville and Dolly Brown and her husband, Rodney of Orange; one son, Ray Miller of Orange; two brothers, John Miller and his wife, Bertha of Orange and Benjamin Miller and his wife, Tillie of Crozet; three sisters, Lucille Heimbach of Orange, Viola Henry of Greensboro, N.C., and Ruth Hurt of Laurel, Md.; four grandchildren, Tammy Johnson of Fredericksburg, Carmen Cox of Locust Grove, Kelly Palazzo of Ft. Lee and Rodney Brown Jr. of Ashburn; and seven great-grandchildren.
