Frances Price Parsons of Crozet died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at her residence.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at University Baptist Church, 1223 W. Main St., Charlottesville.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Culpeper National cemetery.

James Joseph Polaro
James Joseph Polaro, 72, of Charlottesville, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at his home.

William Lee Rollins
William Lee Rollins, 53, of Orange, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his residence.
Born Feb. 26, 1949, in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late Thomas H. Rollins and the late Ruth Breeden Rollins.
He was married
to the late Mary Elizabeth Rollins.
He was a carpenter and attended North Pamunkey Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Lee Rollins and Brandon Lee Rollins, both of Orange; two brothers, James R. Rollins of Springfield and Thomas E. Rollins of Orange; two sisters, Ethel R. Tusing and Helen R. Utz, both of Orange; five nieces; four nephews; and a number of cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Preddy Funeral Chapel in Orange, with interment in Madison Memorial Gardens, Pratts. The Rev. Wayne Goff will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Flora Albano Russo
Dr. Flora Albano Russo, 89, of New Canton, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at her residence.
She was born in New York the daughter of the late Vincent and Josephine Re Albano.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen Edward Scotti.
Dr. Albano graduated from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia, received a doctorate at New York University School of Dentistry and later became chief resident at Harlem Hospital, New York. She was also a member of the Dental Society, ADA and Women's Dental Society.
Other accomplishments include managing and breeding Arabian Horses on her farm in Buckingham County.
Survivors include a devoted grandson, David Anthony Kimbell; a daughter, Edwina "Jo" Scotti; a son, Vincent Francis Xavier Scotti, both of Amityville, N.Y.; and a sister, Geraldine Tessitore of Vienna.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Columbia. Father Gerald A. Pryzwara will officiate. Interment
will be private.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arvonia Fire Department or the Buckingham County Rescue Squad.
Ada Marshall Seyffer
Ada Marshall Seyffer, 84, of Charlottesville, died Saturday Nov. 30, 2002, at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Howard.
Born 1918 in Raleigh, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Ross and Grace Marshall.
After growing up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Ada attended Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. She was married
in 1940 and then spent 35 years in the Pittsfield, Mass., area where she and Howard brought up their five children.
Ada was a homemaker, devoted to her husband and family. She did extensive volunteer work with her church and the local hospital, but her family was her major focus, giving of herself always. Her wonderful sense of humor was apparent throughout her life. Ada was an artist, a wonderful cook, and a creative woman.
After her husband's retirement from Seyffer Ford Sales in Pittsfield, Mass., he and Ada moved to Sanibel Island, Fla., where they spent 20 happy years. Ada was a lover of the seashore, an avid collector of seashells and active birdwatcher.
In 1998, Ada and Howard moved to Charlottesville to make their home at Westminster- Canterbury, so that they could be close to their five children living in the area.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbie Renton of Madison; her son, Charlie Seyffer and Bonnie Bailey, of Rochelle; her daughter Peggy Rice and husband, Peter, of Madison; her daughter Marty Van Santvoord and husband, Buzz, or Orange; her daughter Ada Patterson of Orange; eleven grandchildren, Suzi and Chris Martin, Mollie and Will Seyffer, Peter Rice, Darcy Baker, Maggie Rice, Tobey, Emily and Hart Van Santvoord, and Martha Patterson; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the health care staff of Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge for their personal and loving attention to both Ada and Howard over the last year.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Westminster-Canterbury.

A funeral service for Marlene Grant Sheinfeld will be held at 2 p.m. this afternoon at Hill & Wood Chapel, with Pastor Raymond Winters officiating. Interment

Alma C. Smythe
Alma Champlin Smythe died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, following a long period of declining health. She was a resident of Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge, Charlottesville, since 1992, and former 49-year resident of Moorestown, N.J.
Mrs. Smythe was born Oct. 5, 1911, in Fort Sill, Okla., to Alvin Barnes Champlin and Jane Quigley Champlin.
She graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1927 and from Barnard College in 1931, with a degree in chemistry. She worked in the analytical laboratory of Burroughs Wellcome and Co. before her marriage to Carl V. Smythe June 12, 1936, in New York City.
Following their marriage, she worked two years for General Foods Co. in New York.
The couple moved to Moorestown, N.J., in 1943. There, Mrs. Smythe served as a Den Mother in Cub Scouts, a Sunday School teacher and a longtime member of the choir of the First Presbyterian Church. For many years she was an active member of the Moorestown Women's Club, serving as the President from 1963 to 1965.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking and took pride in her peonies as well as her homemade bread, pies and cakes.
Surviving are two sons, Richard V. Smythe of Fairfax Station and Robert T. Smythe of Corvallis, Ore.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her husband and four brothers preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge in Charlottesville. Her ashes will be interred at the First Presbyterian Church cemetery in Moorestown, N.J.
There will be no public calling hours.

Elisabeth Evans Cahill
Elisabeth Evans Cahill, 62, of Mineral, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002.
She was a daughter of the late Thomas M. and Elinor E. Cahill, a member of Elk Creek Baptist Church, National Organization for Women, Peace Corps, member of the board and a Thespian for Four County Players, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Louisa Health Care Center, served on the Ship Hope in Central America and a member of HOSA.
She worked as an RN at Louisa Health Care Center.
She is survived by her daughters Elinor, Anne and Jeannie Williams, and a grandson, Kellen Williams.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment
will be in Arlington National cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Four County Players Building Fund.
Narcissus Haywood

James Bernard Miller
James Bernard Miller, 85, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Center in Charlottesville.
He was born July 21, 1917, at Montpelier Station, the son of the late Daniel and Viola Garton Miller.
He retired in 1978 as a locomotive engineer after 36 years of service with the Pennsylvania Penn Central and Conrail Railroad. He was an honorary life member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE) and a life member of Harmony Lodge No. 3 (AF & AM) in Smyrna, Del. He was also a member and past governor of Charlottesville Lodge No. 1028 of the Loyal Order of Moose since 1972 and held the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, the highest degree of the order since 1993. Mr. Miller served in the army from 1935 to 1941, and was discharged as a corporal of Battery B, First Coast Artillery.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Tirrell Miller of Charlottesville; one son, James Douglas Miller of Smyrna, Del.; one stepson, James R. Tirrell of Grayson, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Faye L. Branham of Charlottesville and Ruth T. Greene of Moneta, and their spouses; six step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Margaret Morris; three nieces, Adell Wood of Charlottesville, Martha Moubray of Barboursville and Laura Thacker of Aroda; and one nephew, Clarence Hall of Jacksonville, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hill & Wood Chapel, with the Rev. Greg Compton of Mechanicsville Baptist Church officiating. Interment
will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
