Edith H. Rudy
Edith Heermance Rudy, formerly of Charlottesville, died Tuesday Nov. 12, 2002, the day after celebrating her 85th birthday with family members.
A graduate of the University of Virginia, class of 1940, she received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award. After teaching in southwest Virginia she worked at the Hercules munitions plant in Radford, during World War II. Returning to Charlottesville, Mrs. Rudy was active in Business and Professional Women, school PTA's, and served on the city's school board during integration in the 1960's. She retired from U. Va.'s Department of Student Health in 1978, moving to northern Virginia in 1998.
She is survived by her son, Richard, of Apex, N.C.; grandchildren, Alicia Valin of Atlanta, Ga., and Todd Rudy of Ithaca, N.Y.; and sisters Georgiana H. Faulconer of Harrisonburg, and Pauline H. Crews of Arlington.
The family requests any memorials be made in the form of donations to Soup Kitchen Ministry, First Presbyterian Church, 500 Park St., Charlottesville, Va. 22902.
Mae Meeks Taylor
Mae Meeks Taylor, 89, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at Winterhaven in Charlottesville.
She was born in Charlottesville, the daughter of the late Luther and Lelia Meeks. Her husband, Cecil E. Taylor; her sister, Peggy Meeks Clay; and her half sister, Annie Bolton preceded her.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Taylor Reynolds and her husband, Phillip of Charlottesville; a son, Donald E. Taylor and his wife, Jean of Cumberland; three grandchildren, Cecily Reynolds, Donald Taylor and Martha Munger; as well as three great-grandchildren, Drew Reynolds, Zachary Taylor and Jackson Munger.
The family would like to thank Winterhaven for their love and care for their mother and especially Sheri Smith.
Mae was married
for 62 years, was a wonderful mother who enjoyed her home and neighbors. She was retired from a career with the Michie Company in Charlottesville and was a active member of the Broadus Memorial Baptist Church.
Family visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hill & Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hill & Wood Funeral Chapel with Dr. Joel P. Jenkins and the Rev. Robert Wheeler officiating. Interment
will follow in Riverview cemetery.

Pamela J. Brothers
Pamela J. Brothers, M.D., 41, of Lake Monticello, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, after a courageous battle against malignant melanoma.
Born June 10, 1961, she was the daughter of Carl and Marjorie Brothers of Lake Meade, East Berlin, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Barbara B. Kline of York, Pa., and Karen B. May of Lemoyne, Pa., and her nephews, David M. and Andrew T. May.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald H. Brothers.
Pamela was a graduate of Cedar Cliff High School in 1979, Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa., in 1983, and a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine in 1987. She practiced emergency medicine at Carlisle Hospital, Pa., from 1993 to 1997, and Martha Jefferson Hospital from 1997 until June 2001, when her cancer was diagnosed.
She was a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Grace & Glory Lutheran Church, Lake Monticello Owners Association, Ladies Golf Association, Second Fridays Happy Hour Group, and Glenmore Country Club.
From the time of her diagnosis of malignant melanoma until just before her death, Pam wrote a daily entry into her www.pamfightscancer.com Web site.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at Church of Our Saviour Episcopal Church, 1165 E. Rio Road, Charlottesville, Va., with her pastor, the Rev. William Stewart officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the church.
A second funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill, Pa. Visitation will be held an hour before the service at the church.

Lois Carty Flora
Lois Carty Flora, 72, a retired nurse, loving wife, dedicated mother and long time resident of Charlottesville died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002.
Mrs. Flora was a resident at the Willows at Meadowbranch in Winchester. Lois has now joined her husband, Dr. Frank E. Flora in loving reunion.
Mrs. Flora was born in Dante. She received her medical training from Roanoke Memorial Hospital. As a registered nurse, she worked at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Throughout her career and personal life, Lois always met each day with the greatest of passion.
Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Eleanor Flora Smalley of Berryville; her son, Dr. William F. Flora of Radford; two grandchildren and seven sisters and brothers.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the First Presbyterian Church, Park Street, Charlottesville Va., at 1 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Frank Flora Scholarship Fund Curry School University of Virginia, or to your local fire and rescue service in memory of Lois Carty Flora.

A. Lee Thaw Greene
A. Lee Thaw Greene, 67, of Madison Heights, died peacefully Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002.
He was born in Richmond and lived most of his life in Charlottesville. He was the son of the late Dr. J. Turner Greene and Lucy Vaughan Greene.
He is survived by two sisters, Margaret G. Reuger of Richmond, Elizabeth G. Seekford and Brother-in-law, Larry R. Seekford of Suffolk; and brother-in-law, J. Hugh Ryan Jr. of Kilmarnock; many nieces and nephews; and many loving caregivers and residents of the Amherst Group Home in Madison Heights.
A grave side service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Hollywood cemetery, Richmond.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics of Virginia or the charity of your choice.

A funeral service for Williamson Thomas "Bill" Hough will be held at 11 a.m. today at Christ Church Episcopal, 120 W. High St., Charlottesville, Va. Interment

Joseph John Kelly
Joseph John Kelly passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, after a seven year battle with cancer.
He was born in Albany, N.Y., Dec. 27, 1943, son of Ann Lansing and James Raymond Kelly.
He is survived by his partner, Suzanne Goldsmith; his beloved sons, Bob and Rory, and their mother, Jebb Rossetter Kelly; five brothers, Peter and Mark of Kinderhook, N.Y., Tom of Boston, Brian of Napa, Calif., James of New Orleans; and two sisters, Mary Ann of North Hampton, Mass. And Peggy of Providence, R.I.; 13 nieces and nephews; his beloved step father Bernard T. Brennan of Kinderhook N.Y. and Delray Beach; and step brothers and sisters Tom, Annie, Wendy, John and Jill.
Joe was predeceased by his brother Larry, as well as his parents.
In 1967, Joe worked with his congressman and the National Little League to open Little League membership to East Harlem, N.Y., and henceforth to other inner city youth nationwide. It was a part of a program he liked to call "uptown opportunities with downtown (Wall Street) dollars."
Joseph Kelly was publisher of several health and wellness journals, including Health action which reached well over a million readers monthly. In 1993, he sent his "Patients' Bill of Rights and Responsibilities" to the White House along with signatures garnered from doctors' waiting rooms around the country.
It is Joseph Kelly's desire that all well-wishers gather for a brunch and celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Lambert House, 633 South Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro.

Patsy Anne Primiani
Patsy Anne Primiani, of Trevilians, formerly of Pebble Beach, Calif., died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2002, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital.
She was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Atlanta, Ga., and was the daughter of the late Dr. Milton Sangree Fahrney and Lillian Harris Fahrney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominick Manuel Primiani, and brother Phil Harris Fahrney.
She is survived by her two sons, Peter Fahrney Primiani and his wife, Barbara Anne Primiani, of Trevilians, and Marc Sangree Primiani of Santa Monica, Calif.; three grandsons, Michael Fahrney Primiani, Matthew Sangree Primiani and Daniel Hubbell Primiani, all of Trevilians; and her dearest cousin, Martha Rahn of Mount Gretna, Pa.
Patsy was a long time member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, Commodore Sloat Chapter. She loved nature and wildlife and her home in Pebble Beach, Calif., brought nature literally to her doorstep. For many years she was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in San Mateo, Calif.
Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Monterey County, P.O. Box 3058, Monterey, Ca. 93942.

Katherine J.Thalmann
Katherine J. Thalmann, 81, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002.
Katherine, an avid gardener, was a charter member of the Sacagawea Garden Club, a member of the Doe Club, Key West, and Senior Center Investment Clubs, a homemaker, and an interior designer. Above all she was proudest of her children and grandchildren.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelmina and John Julichs; a devoted husband, George Edward Thalmann; a sister, Helen Schuck; a brother, John Julichs; and a grandson, Robert Edward Joseph.
Cherishing their memories and family are a son, William George Thalmann and his daughters, Alyssa Marie Thalmann; Michelle Hupp; Katherine E. Thalmann of Falls Church; a daughter, Kathie Thalmann Joseph and her husband, Richard Cary Joseph Sr., and their son, Richard Cary Joseph Jr., all of Charlottesville; and a host of devoted friends that she considered family.
