Cecil H. Scott Sr.
Cecil Homer Scott Sr., 53, of Troy, died Friday, March 21, 2003, in a local hospital.
Born January 12, 1950, he was the son of Ethel Fitzgerald Good and the late Cladie Scott.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Scott and David Scott.
He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Puentes and her husband, Sergio; one son, Cecil H. Scott Jr., and his wife, Patricia; one brother, Bennie C. Scott; and five grandchildren, Alexis Scott, Joann Scott, Kaylynn Lowry, Adriana Puentes and Rachelle Scott; and special friends Joann Vance and Christine Snow.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Hunter officiating.

Michael E. Simons
Michael Edward Simons, 20, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Charlottesville.
He was born July 29, 1982, in Charlottesville, son of Edward E. and Joyce Baddorf Simons of Troy, Va.
He worked as an auto mechanic at Mickey’s Auto Care in Keswick. He had formerly worked with Settle Tire and Express Car Wash in Charlottesville. He was a 2000 graduate of Fluvanna High School and was a member of Colonial Baptist Church in Charlottesville.
In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his sister, Amanda "Mandi" Simons Russell and her husband, Steve, of Charlottesville; his grandparents, Fred and Marion Baddorf of Dillsburg, Pa.; his great-grandparents, Homer and Kathleen Turner of Unionville; three uncles, Ronald Baddorf of Yuma, Ariz., Harrold Simons and his wife, Phyllis, of Bolingbrook, Ill., Wayne Simons Jr., and his wife, Ann, of Northlake, Ill.; five loving cousins; his loving girlfriend, Stephanie Martens; and his best friend, Jay McCauley.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Hill & Wood Funeral Home.
The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Colonial Baptist Church, Charlottesville, with Pastor Ed Leake officiating. The family requests that contributions be made to the Colonial Baptist Church Printing Ministry, 4218 Richmond Road, Keswick, Va. 22947.

Sylvia Berry Smith, 93, of Orange, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at the Orange County Nursing Home.

John D. Vogel Jr.
John Daniel Vogel Jr., 84, of Charlottesville, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at a local hospital.
He retired as the Head Accountant of the New Mexico State Commission on Alcoholism. He had previously worked for many years as a cashier with the Bank of New Mexico and was active in the Community Theater. He served in the Army Air Corps and was a Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Daniel Vogel Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Ahearn Vogel; two sons, Eric Vogel and David Vogel, both of Albuquerque, N.M.
He is survived by three daughters, Gretchen Patterson of Charlottesville, Lisa Gorgone and her husband, David, Blake French and her husband, Bruce, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; one son, Byrnes Vogel and his wife, Anna, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Marion Hartung and her husband, William, of Ravenna, Ohio, and Frances Patterson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Laura Vogel of Albuquerque, N.M.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and the family requests that contributions be made to the Charlottesville Albemarle Senior Center, 1180 Pepsi Place, Charlottesville, Va. 22901.

Caroline V. Boone
A funeral service for Caroline V. Boone, will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2003, at Teague Chapel. Interment
will follow in Riverview cemetery.

Thelma P. Bray-Roehl
Chaplain Thelma Bray-Roehl of Charlottesville, Va., formerly of Chicago, Ill., went to be with the Lord Jesus, Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Colonnades Nursing Home.
She was born in Streator, Ill., on June 9, 1915, the daughter of the late Bania Smith and Luella Simmons.
She graduated from the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, in 1942.
For over 50 years Chaplain Bray-Roehl served the patients of Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
With her first husband, the Rev. Alvin Bray, she formed the Glorious Gospel Group to reach out to hospital patients and jail inmates with chapel programs.
With the Rev. Bray, whom she met while a student at the Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, she was a church-planting missionary and founded a congregation in Jefferson Park that eventually merged into what is now the Park Ridge Bible Church in Park Ridge, Ill.
Throughout her church planting years in the 1940s, she also worked part-time with her husband at County hospital.
In 1950 she began working full-time at County when her husband was called to be the Chaplain there with the Light Bearers Association. This continued until her retirement in 2000.
After her first husband's death, she remarried
to another widowed Chaplain at County hospital, the Rev. Don Roehl of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. She was a widow twice, first to the Rev. Alvin M. Bray and then to the Rev. Donald Roehl.
She is survived by three sons, William Thomas Bray of Charlottesville, Va., Paul Timothy Bray of Greenville, S.C. and John Mark Bray of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 4800 N. Austin Avenue, Chicago, Ill., 60630, with Wm. Thomas Bray officiating. Interment
will follow at the Fairview Memorial cemetery in Northlake, Ill.

Rosa Davis
Rosa Jane Buckner Davis, 94, of Barboursville, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
She was born October 6, 1908, in Greene County and was a daughter of the late Thomas Buckner and Mollie Wright Buckner. She was married
to the late Chauncey Dovell Davis and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Ruckersville.
Mrs. Davis is survived by three daughters, Beauford Hawkins, Elizabeth Smith and Katherine Carey, all of Barboursville; one son, Chauncey D. Davis Jr., of Barboursville; one sister, Lucy Jackson of Wash., D.C.; 14 grandchildren, Gladys, Elvin, Louise, Thomas, Cheryl, Odessa, Ira, Miranda, Artelia, Donnie, Ozella, Paulette, Mark and Danielle, 23 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2003, at Bethany Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Stanley H. Holmes will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday at the church before the funeral service.

John C. Iseli
John Clyde Iseli, 63, of Ruckersville, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003, at a Charlottesville hospital.
He was born April 16, 1939, in Waynesboro, a son of the late Jasper and Minnie Mae Riner Iseli.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Laurel Maria Iseli; a daughter, Tammy Maria Garrison of Palmyra; two sons, Jay Nathan Iseli and his wife, Sharon, and John Wesley Iseli of Ruckersville; two sisters, Hilda Ryan and Peggy Campbell of Waynesboro; two brothers, Buck Iseli and Freddy Iseli of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Jonathan Garrison, Jannah Maria Garrison, and Jacob Taylor Iseli; and one great-grandchild, Cameron M. Garrison.
Mr. Iseli was a small business owner for a number of years.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with interment at Holly Memorial Gardens. Elder Gary Bradley and Pastor Jim Woods will officiate.

Margaret C. Muller
Margaret Caroline Muller BS, MFA, a highly regarded, 27 year old, American artist living in London, was murdered, Feb. 3, 2003, while jogging in Victoria Park.
She was born on May 20, 1975, in West Islip, N.Y., and lived in Northern Virginia prior to studying and living in England. She attended George Mason High School, George Mason University, and the Slade School of Fine Art at University College London, UK. She received a BS from GMU in 1998 and an MFA degree from the Slade in 2001. Her web site, http://www.margaretmuller.com, displays many of her works. It will be maintained in her memory.
With regard to the person and talent of Margaret, John Aiken, professor and director of the Slade School wrote: "Margaret's vitality, energy, and enthusiastic love of art and life is fondly remembered by all who know her and her shocking death has had a profound effect on the whole School. She was admired for the courage and determination she showed in pursuing her chosen career as a professional artist and in producing powerful work of great integrity. Her desire to make work which had meaning and was of consequence produced some highly charged and intense paintings of great quality."
She is survived by her father, Erich; mother, Eileen; and older sister, Theresa.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Hill & Wood Funeral Home, followed by interment at Monticello Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Monday.
