Dr. Peri T. Roden
Dr. Peri Tumay Roden, DVM, A resident of Orlando, Fla., and Istanbul, Turkey, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, in Istanbul.
She is survived by her husband, James. C. Roden; her parents, Mehemet T. and Karen N. Tumay; her sister and brother-in-law, Suna Tumay Morgan and Todd C. Morgan; her nephew, Taner Cole Morgan; and her sister-in-law, Christy Roden.
We will miss her.
Services will be private.

James T. Woodson
James Tucker "Jimmy" Woodson, 70, of Nellysford, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at a local hospital.
He was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Albemarle County to the late Charles Richard Woodson and Carrie Barnett Woodson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Benjamin Woodson; and one grandson, Carlton Allen Patterson.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Hughes Woodson; two sons, Mike Fitzgerald and his wife, Stephanie of Beechgrove, and James Richard Woodson of Nellysford; two daughters, Rita Faye Showalter and her fiancee', David Hammer, of Alexandria, and Brenda W. Gibson and her husband, Buster of Crozet; eight grandchildren, James Michael, Tanner Ryan, and Logan Fitzgerald, James Travis Woodson, James Milton, and Hershey Lynn Showalter, Kevin Hammer and Cindy Gibson; four great-grandchildren, Shayna and Taylor Fitzgerald, Kyla Marie Woodson and Mason Prichett; five sisters, Mary Katherine Black, Charlotte Virginia Dollins, Mattie Frances Graves, Betty Sue Barksdale, and Nancy Lee Farinholt; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Woodson was retired from R.A. Yancey Lumber Company in Crozet and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Piedmont for their care.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment
will follow at the Hillsboro cemetery with Robert Mansfield officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Steve Black, Gale Thompson, Ronnie Dollins, James Campbell, Page Hatter and Greg Shifflett.

Rebecca J. Blume
Rebecca "Beckie" Javins Blume, went to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at 904 Elliott Avenue, Charlottesville.
She was a resident of Bolling Avenue for over 60 years.
Born March 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Douglas and Binna Gorham Javins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Burrell O. Blume; two sisters; Libbie Godsey and Florence Martin.
She is survived by daughters; Carole Blume Burgess and her husband, Henry, of Charlottesville, and Janet Blume Shiflett and her husband, Robert of Charlottesville; brothers, John Javins of Beaverdam, and Harry Javins of Shipman; sisters, Laura Carroll of Spotsylvania, Clara Smith, Margaret Seay and Shirley Keeton all of Manakin-Sabot, Mary Gilley of Richmond, Evelyn Henley of Manakin-Sabot, and Ethel Watkins of Maiden; three grandchildren, Susan Burgess Harlan, Richard Allen Burgess and his wife, Kimberly, and Katherine Carole Shiflett; three great-grandchildren; Allen Thomas Harlan and his wife, Kristian, Rachel Rebecca Burgess, and Kara Lynn Burgess; and one great-great grandson, Kevin Allen Payne.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Belmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Dalton officiating. Interment
will follow in Monticello Memory Gardens.

Eunice W. Boston
Mrs. Eunice W. Boston, 77, of Manassas, formerly of Unionville, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Prince William Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Boston; and a son, William E. Boston Sr.
She was a retired sales clerk for Rite-Aid, and was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ in Manassas.
She is survived by her son, Banjamin W. Boston and his wife, Lois, who devoted much time to her care in her last days; a daughter-in-law, Debra Boston; grandchildren, William E. Boston Jr., Valerie G. Rohr, Stacy L. Kirkpatrick, Paul E. Boston, and Philip A. Boston; and two great-grandchildren, Allison and Nicholas Rohr.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Unionville Baptist Church with Pastor David Whitten officiating.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Antioch Church of Christ in Manassas with Pastor John Ulm conducting.

Goldie Lee Collier
Goldie Lee Collier, 76, of Dyke, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
She was born Dec. 25, 1926, a daughter of the late Rolly and Frances Keaton Collier.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delanie Collier.
She is survived by two daughters, Desiree Bourne and her husband, Jason, of Dyke, and Linda Moore of High Point, N.C.; two grandchildren, Kathy Morris and Amberlin Davis; a grandchild to be, Haley N. Bourne; a sister, Arlene Shifflett and her husband, Roy, of Charlottesville; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Nortonsville Pentecostal Church, with interment in the church cemetery. Brother Ellis Roach will officiate.

Irene M. Collins
Irene Milleson Collins, 82, of Brightwood, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in the Britt Haven Nursing Home in Goldsboro, N.C.
Born June 14, 1919, in Romney, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Milleson and Elizabeth Milleson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Franklin Collins.
She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Aroda, and a retired seamstress.
She is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Dianne Cardea and her husband, Dr. John Cardea of Richmond; one son, Richard "Butch" Collins and his wife, Dottie Aylor Collins of South Hill; two sisters, Georgianna Wirgman of Gainesville, and Margaret Haines of Romney, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Carol Collins Braswell, Jennifer Dianne Collins, Robert K.F. Collins, and Anne Catherine Cardea; and one great-grandchild, Nicholas Scott Collins.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Culpeper National cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Stanley Borders.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Preddy Funeral Home in Madison.

Rita H. Doran
Rita H. Doran, 63, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, after a brief illness.
She was born in Camden, N.J., to the late Samuel and Sonia Horowitz.
Mrs. Doran attended Temple University. After a few years working for RCA in her home town, she moved to Cape Canaveral, Fla., where she was a member of the support staff for the Project Mercury space program, which inspired the book and movie, "The Right Stuff."
She worked in the Broward County, Fla., bureau of the Miami Herald from 1968 until 1981, when she and her husband, Tom, moved to Charlottesville. From 1988 until 1991, she served as an executive secretary in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
Rita loved music, movies, gardening and her Siamese cat, and was a devoted fan of UVa sports programs. Some who knew her remarked that when she met a stranger, they usually would be chatting like old friends within minutes. She was a former member of the UVa Women's Club and the West Leigh Club.
In addition to her husband of 25 years, she is survived by a brother, James C. Horowitz and his wife, Jean, of New Jersey; a sister, Doris Ginzanti and her husband, Frank, of New Jersey; brothers-in-law Michael J. Doran and his wife, Barbara, Terrence M. Doran and Patrick Livingston, all of Florida; nephews, nieces and their children in New Jersey and Florida; and many friends in various states.
Her family thanks Dr. Andrew MacFarlan for his many years of dedicated service as her family physician, Dr. Jonathon Truwit and his critical care team at the University of Virginia Health System for their aggressive efforts to save her life, and the staff workout partner Pat Taylor and others at the Atlantic Coast Athletic Club who were an extended family and for years helped Rita maintain good health in the face of lupus, a chronic medical condition.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Virginia Lee Gibson
Virginia Lee Gibson, 84, of Charlottesville, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at a local hospital.
Born Nov. 23, 1918, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin William and Mary Ann Gibson.
She is survived by a brother, John William Gibson of Earlysville; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend Bonnie.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the Ivy Creek United Methodist Church cemetery.

Florence G. Langevin
Florence G. Langevin, 88, of Ellenton, Fla., and formerly of Methuen and Lawrence, Mass., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in Salem Hospital, Salem, Mass.
Born in Methuen, Mass., She was the wife of the late Wildor R. Langevin for 57 years.
Mrs. Langevin was educated at the Sacred Heart and Saint Patrick's Grammar Schools, and later was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She worked as an operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph Company in Lawrence, Mass., for over 30 years until her retirement in 1978. She was a parishioner of Saint Mary's Church until moving to Florida. She loved dancing, music and bingo.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Smith of Danvers, Mass., and Linda-Lee Stroeher and her husband, Richard, of Charlottesville, and Jayne-Ann Langevin of Methuen, Mass.; a brother, John Kenneth Foster of North Andover, Mass.; a special caretaker, Anna Rivera; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Saint Mary's Shrine in Lawrence, Mass. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart cemetery in Andover, Mass.

Aubrey C. Nuckols Jr.
Aubrey Cortez Nuckols Jr., 75, died peacefully Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Nuckols was born Oct. 25, 1927, in Louisa County.
He is preceded in death by his father, Aubrey Cortez Nuckols Sr.; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Bagby Nuckols; his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Kennon Nuckols; and a sister, Gretna Nuckols Walton, all of Louisa.
He was retired from the lumber business.
He is survived by his wife, Gracie S. Nuckols; seven children, A.C. Nuckols III, R. Garland Nuckols, Diane Nuckols, Ashby Johnson Nuckols, Frances J. Groome, Barbara A. Barrett, and James M. Cline Sr., all of Louisa; two sisters, Mary N. Davis and Barbara N. Sprouse, both of Louisa; one brother, Carlton Cortez Nuckols of Beaver Dam; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family extends their grateful appreciation to the Hospice of the Piedmont and the nurses and physicians who so kindly provided their assistance.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa. Interment
will be in Spring Grove Memorial Park cemetery, Mineral.
