Ronald Ray Morris
Mr. Ronald Ray "Ronnie" Morris, 68, of Burlington, N.C., died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at Wake Forrest University Baptist Medical Center.
He was born July 7, 1935, in Albemarle, Va., to Robert James and Elsie May Wood Morris. Mr. Morris was a long-time employee of Sears and Roebuck and a retiree of Equitable Life Insurance Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Betty Ann Sprouse Morris. Surviving are two sons, Craig Morris and his wife, Gay, of Burlington, N.C., Scott Morris and his wife, Terri, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; five grandchildren, Andy, Matt, John Caleb, Zac and Alex Morris; two great-granddaughters, Sierra and Erin Morris; a step-son, John Harmon; and a brother, Robert James Morris, Jr.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, Va., with Dr. Roy Thomas officiating.

SaTina K. Murray
SaTina "Tina" Kathleen Murray, 35, of W. Old Mountain Road, Louisa, passed away on Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, in her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Hawk, Sr.; a step-son, Lawrence Hawk, II; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Nuckols; her brother, Kenneth Turpin, II, and his wife, Rachel; a sister, Kimberly Rodriques and her husband, Leonard; maternal grandmother, W.M. Hess; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Shirley Hawk; uncles, Thomas C. and John F. Hess; aunts, Betty Deacon, Barbara Rudich, Linda Nuckols, and, Julia Sprouse; nieces, Nicole Marie, Alyssa Ann, and Brianna Leigh; nephews, Darren Michael, Zachary Chase, along with numerous cousins.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa. Burial will be held privately at a later date. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.

David A. Poston
After a lengthy battle with lung cancer, Dave passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, with his wife of 50 years, Barbara, by his side.
Dave was a native Washingtonian born December 19, 1930. He was the son of the late Herbert W. Poston and Evelyn Lipscomb Poston.
His accounting career was spent in the automotive industry until his retirement and his move to Earlysville in 1992.
He became a school bus driver for the city of Charlottesville and was beloved by the parents of those children he drove. They kept him in chocolate chip cookies and many hugs.
His quick wit and fun loving ways endeared him to all who knew him. He drove the "Blue Bus" #715 and was known as the "good luck" charm to the CHS Black Knight football team.
He was a member of the Hinton Ave. Methodist Church Men’s Club.
While living in the D.C. area, he was a member of the "Marylandaires" barbershop chorus.
He was a graduate of Western High School in Washington, D.C. and Ben Franklin University.
While he and his wife had no children, he was an "uncle" to many nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by his lap dog, LuLu. He asked to be remembered to all the kids he drove over the years.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004, in the chapel of the Hill & Wood Funeral Home with the Rev. Suzanne Hylton-Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Isaiah Clem cemetery in Fort Valley at 1:00 p.m.
A luncheon will be offered at Oak Level Methodist Church following the burial.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at funeral home.

Scybel D. Dorrier
Scybel Davis Dorrier, 80, of Charlottesville, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at her home.
Born on June 17, 1923, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence G. and Lollie Watson Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Herman H. Dorrier; a sister, Salome Brown; and a son, Henry L. Dorrier.
She was a member of Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church, and was owner and operator, with her husband, of Belmont Market.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Hatcher and her husband, Jim, of Charlottesville; four grandchildren, Carol Frazier and her husband, David, of Free Union; Christa Nottingham of Crozet; Sherri Dorrier of Charlottesville and Mike Dorrier, also of Crozet; six great-grandchildren, Tiffanie and Rena Frazier, Ashley and Sara Nottingham, and Dustin and Jason Branch.
The family will receive friends on this evening, from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward A. Hopkins officiating. Interment
will follow at Riverview cemetery.

Robert Vernon Duff
Robert Vernon Duff Sr., 66, of Ruckersville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at his home.
He was born on March 12, 1937, in Brightwood, a son of the late William Jennings Duff and Atlee Kidd Duff.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Leona Duff of Ruckersville; three sons, Robert Vernon Duff Jr. and Sandra of Palmyra, Eric Thomas Duff and Melissa of Kansas and William Aaron Duff Sr. and Shell of Ruckersville; three sisters, Harriett Frank of Richmond, Catherine Snead and Roger of Quinque and Maxine Henry and C.T. of Orange; three brothers, Billy Duff and Nancy of Powhatten, Chuck Duff and Kaye of Charlottesville and Walter Duff and Dawn of Ashland; eight grandchildren, John Michael Ward, Kameron Stuart McGhee, Michelle Elise Duff, Eric Thomas Duff Jr., Robert Jennings Duff, William Aaron Duff Jr., "Jake" and Karsen Olivia Duff; and his dog, Skyler.
Mr. Duff was retired from Klockner Penteplast after 17 years of devoted service.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Ryan Funeral Chapel in Quinque with interment in Holly Memorial Gardens. Pastor Tom Livine will officiate.

Annie Lamb Durham
Annie Elizabeth Lamb Durham, 98, of Earlysville, died at her home.
Born Dec. 5, 1905, in Free Union, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. Lamb and Mattie Gentry Lamb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George L. Durham Sr.
A homemaker, she was a member of Waynesboro Wesleyan Church and formerly a member of Monticello Wesleyan Church for many years.
She is survived by four sons, George L. Durham Jr. and his wife, Mable, of Charlottesville, Charles R. Durham and his wife, Marilyn, of Waynesboro, Merlin W. Durham and his wife, Elaine, of Earlysville, and Carroll E. Durham and his wife, Bonnie, of Waynesboro; a special granddaughter, Pamela Durham Watson of Barboursville; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., today, Jan. 30, 2004, at the Hill & Wood Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley R. Belcher officiating. Due to weather conditions, the interment will be private following the funeral.
Charles A. Gordner
Charles A. Gordner, 69, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at his home. He was born in Wakefield on March 2, 1934, to the late George and Annie Gordner.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jean Gordner of Cary; two daughters, Kathryn Mauney and son-in-law, Ricky Mauney of Apex, N.C., Carol Jenkins of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren; and five sisters.
He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church in Cary; a Master Mason of Widow’s Sons’ Lodge No. 60, Charlottesville, and member of Keystone Royal Arch Chapter No. 58 of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Virginia.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Monticello Memorial Gardens, Charlottesville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, N.C.

Gregory Lee Hoadley
Gregory Lee Hoadley, 67, of Palmyra, died on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, in a local nursing care facility.
Born May 12, 1936, in Norwich, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frederick F. Hoadley and Anne U. Little Hoadley. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Hoadley.
Mr. Hoadley was a radio and TV news broadcaster in Washington, D.C., Utica, N.Y., Norfolk, Phoenix, Ariz., Los Angeles, Calif., and Binghamton, N.Y. In later years he was a volunteer with the American Red Cross working with the 911 disaster team at the Pennsylvania crash site of flight 93 and at Ground Zero. He was also an army veteran.
Surviving him is his wife, Nancy J. Hoadley of Palmyra; a daughter, Helen "Mackie" Doland and her husband, Wayne, of Woodbridge; a twin brother, Garrick L. Hoadley, and his wife, Lynn, of Gilbertsville, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Cody Doland and Michael Doland; his mother-in-law, Anita Brumbaugh, of Palmyra; a brother-in-law, Rocky Brumbaugh, of Hazelton, Pa.; a cousin, Robert Hoadley, of Denver, Colo.; a niece, Margaret Tweten, and her husband, Kurt, of Freehold, N.J.; and two nephews, Garrick Hoadley and his wife, Sarah, of Newtown, Conn. and Daniel Hoadley of Columbia, Md.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in the Hill & Wood Funeral Home. Final disposition will be private.

David Allen Mays
David Allen Mays, 55, of Cherry Grove Lane, Afton, died Thursday morning, Jan. 29, 2004, at his residence after a brief illness.
Born May 11, 1948, in Staunton, he was a son of the late Melvin Junior Mays and Nellie Allen Mays.
He was a self employed Landscaper. David is survived by his caring wife, Nancy Camden Mays; his loving daughter, Sandra Marsh, of Afton; his stepson, Chad Mays, of Roanoke; four devoted sisters, Ruby Ledford and Linda Bozga, both of Afton, Dorothy Henderson and Mary Johnson, both of Lyndhurst; and a brother, Edsol Mays, of Scottsville; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for David will be announced at a later date and arrangements are under the direction of Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Lovingston.
Mary Glass Meeks
Our Lord visited early this morning, Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, and led mother home.
Mary Glass Meeks was born to William and Texie Glass on March 20, 1917.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Fortune Ryan Meeks; a son, Harold R. Meeks; four brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by a son, Gene A. Meeks and his wife, Glenna; three grandchildren, Steven G. Meeks and wife, Gwen, Stephanie M. Koon and husband, Robert, and Sherrie M. Witmer and husband, Dale; a sister, Louise Thomas; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her little Jack Russell, "Lady."
Her last wishes were to be cremated and her ashes to be placed with her son, Harold.
Services will be conducted at a later date.
She would have wanted to thank all of those that cared for her during the many trips to the doctors office and hospital over the last several years. A special thanks to Dr. Laub and others of the Crozet Medical Center and the medical staff of 4 East, UVa Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Crozet Rescue Squad.

Doris T. Miller
Doris Trainum Miller, 64, of Charlottesville, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, in a local hospital.
Born Aug. 7, 1939, in Fishersville, she was the daughter of the late Fillmore and Ruth Desper Trainum. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Hagar, and a brother, Ray Trainum.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was retired from Sperry Marine after 32 years of service.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 46 years, Russell L. Miller of Charlottesville; her children, Rusty L. Miller and his wife, Jeanne, Tracy Ann Miller, and Stacy Michelle Fowler, all of Charlottesville; a brother, Harold Trainum of Charlottesville; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Ann Matos, Anthony Ray Matos, Eden Whitfield Miller, Russell Trent Miller, Brooke Leigh Fowler, Alexis Kinley Rae, and Little Stinker Tail Boy; and a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Pat Trainum and Joyce Sprouse, both of Charlottesville, and Betty Crickenberger of Barboursville.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
