Larry Tony Brown
Larry Tony Brown, 53, of Palmyra, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, in Charlottesville.
Born May 11, 1950, he is the son of Mrs. Ethel Pearl Brown and the late Howard J. Brown. He is also survived by a son, Larry J. Brown, Jr.; four grandchildren, Ahmad Dillard, Dejure and Dejuan Sims and Dejuan Brown, all of Charlottesville; a devoted friend, Othella P. Brown; also two aunts, Lillian Logan and Rosa Murray, both of Palmyra; two uncles, Joe Washington of Cleveland, Ohio and Roy Washington of Washington D.C.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2004, at the New Fork Baptist Church, Palmyra. Interment
will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Colbert Funeral Home, Bremo Bluff, today and Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Jane D. Clark
Jane Dawson Clark of Charlottesville, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at the Winterhaven Assisted Living Home.
Born December 7, 1913, in Scottsville, she was the daughter of the late Frank G. Dawson and DuBelle Brockenbrough Dawson. She was also preceded in death by her husband John; seven sisters, Jean, Anne, Cabell, Wilhelmia, Alice, Katherine and Mary; and by a brother, John.
She is survived by a number of nieces, nephews who include Elaine Buck, Jane Davis and Edward Garth, great-nieces and great-nephews, Catherine Davis, Karen Cunningham, Elizabeth Marcais, Courtney Wiltshire, Bruce Davis and Robert Garth; and great-great-nephews, Paul, Alexander and Logan.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 24, 2004, at Monticello Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 8 pm at the Hill & Wood Funeral Home.
The family expresses their sincere thanks to the staff at Winterhaven Assisted Living Home and Hospice of the Piedmont for their loving kindness and concern.
Richard A. Cooper
Richard Anthony Cooper, 45, of Culpeper, died Monday, January 19, 2004. He was born June 23, 1958, in Lynch, Kentucky, to Louie Eugene Cooper and Jewell Smith Cooper of Corona, California.
Mr. Cooper was a Correctional Officer at Coffeewood Correctional Facility. He was a member of Mountain View Community Church and was very involved with church activities. He was also co-founder of "Precincts in Prayers" that was established post 9-11 in New York City.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Stephanie Cooper, and four children, Richard Cooper, II, Brittany, Robert and Ryan Cooper, all of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include two brothers, James Douglas Cooper and Jonathan Thomas Cooper; two sisters, Katherine Marie Morton and Stephanie Dawn Mitchell, his grandmother, "Mom" Smith, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 23, at 10 a.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with Pastor Mark Jenkins officiating.
Interment will follow at Mattoax cemetery, Amelia, VA., at 2 p.m.

A graveside service for Olee Frances Cash Cox will be held at 2 p.m. today, at Holly Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Rick Sadler officiating.

Elsie H. Miller
Elsie H. Miller, 60, of Charlottesville, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Southside Community Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Eddie and Carrie Henderson.
She leaves to cherish her memory one loving son, Robert Miller Jr. of Charlottesville; two sisters, Gertrude Long of Washington, D.C., and Ann Frye of Charlottesville; two grandsons, and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be private and the services of comfort are entrusted to the staff of McClenney Funeral Service Inc., R.B. and Doris A. McClenney, morticians.
Paul "Bob" Miller
Paul "Bob" Miller, 60, died Monday Jan. 19, 2004, at the Hospice Care Center in Wilmington, N.C.
Bob lived in Madison for many years and owned Bob’s Roofing and enjoyed working outside. He was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Kelly Miller and Tara Shelby and her husband, Stuart; and three grandchildren, Aaron and Jenna Miller and Grace Shelby.
The family will be receiving friends Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Jill Miller’s home, 3591 Ruth Road, Madison.

Margaret M. Taylor
Margaret Mason Taylor, 84, of Charlottesville, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at the Winterhaven Assisted Living Home.
Born on April 1, 1919, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late William Edward Taylor and Kate Stanley Taylor. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Margaret was a 1941 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing. She did private duty nursing and prior to her retirement, she was in charge of the Hematology Lab at the UVa Hospital.
Margaret was a life member of Christ Episcopal Church and the University of Virginia Alumni Association.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Evylin T. McClellan of Bristol, Tenn., and Mrs. Christine T. Bloomer of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a beloved sister-in-law, Mrs. Louise Taylor of Charlottesville; and a number of nieces, nephews, many friends and neighbors.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey Fishwick and the Rev. Brian Vander Wel officiating.
Burial will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens.

Elsie G. Tomlin
Elsie Graves Tomlin died on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at her home in Richmond.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Tomlin.
She is survived by a sister, Belver Goode of Afton; her children, Debby Tomlin of Richmond, Pat Dowell of North Katoomba, Australia, Tom Tomlin of Concord, N.C., and Dan Tomlin of Charlottesville; her grandchildren, Greg Adams, Paul and Erica Mata, Peter and Michelle Adams, Joe Adams, Brandon Tomlin, Meagan Tomlin, Bryan Tomlin and Christopher Tomlin; and her great-grandchildren, Nicholas Adams, Danielle Howe, Damon Adams and Austin Bianchi.
Remembrance services have not yet been scheduled. Interment
will be private.

Cornelia W. Booth
Cornelia W. "Dee" Booth, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, of complications from the flu.
Cornelia Winston Clark, born on June 9, 1909, in White Hall, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Flave Ella Smith Clark.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, and sisters, Josephine Clark, Irene Wyant, Nella Smith, Helen Clark; brothers, Harry Clark, Hugh Clark, Jack Clark and her grandson, David Sielewicz.
As a youth she lived with her older sister, Mrs. Josephine Clark Dowell; attended Charlottesville schools. In 1932 she married
Jesse B. Wilson II who died in 1950. She married
William A. Booth in 1953, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June, 2003.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, playing golf and bridge. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Virginia, attending football and basketball events. She maintained a lovely home and garden and was delighted by entertaining. She was an inspiring individual.
Dee organized and developed the Charlottesville Welcome Wagon and Newcomer’s Club, was a member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church and Christ Episcopal Church, The Senior Center, Farmington Country Club, Newcomer’s Club of Charlottesville and was a Welcome Wagon Hostess.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, William A. Booth; her son, Jesse B. Wilson III and wife, Laura of Purcellville; her daughter, Joyce W. Sielewicz and husband, Edwin of Newport, NH; a grandson, Michael Wilson Sielewicz; a sister-in-law, Hazeltine Clark of White Hall; a cousin, Virginia Ballard; two nieces, Nancy Miller and Betty Jo Hensley; two nephews, Donald Clark and Andrew J. Clark Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Brenneke officiating. Interment
will follow at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church cemetery.

Olee C. Cox
Olee Frances Cash Cox, 81, of Charlottesville, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at a local hospital.
Born on Sept. 18, 1922, in Fluvanna County, she was the daughter of the late Champ and Martha Butler Cash. She was also preceded in death by her husband Claude C. Cox; four sisters, Pauline S. Barker, Kathrine Marrs, Edith Deane and Annie Tomlin and a brother, Fred Cash.
She retired after 25 years of service from Leggett’s Department Store.
Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Stoots of Charlottesville; a son-in-law, Robert Campbell; three grandchildren, "Little" Mandy, Brent and "Little" Joyce and many loving nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Holly Memorial Gardens with Dr. Rick Sadler officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

William (Bill) Cleerdin
William (Bill) Cleerdin, 56, of Crozet, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at the University of Virginia Hospital.
Born on Aug. 7, 1947, to Constantine A. Cleerdin and the late Marie A. Brockstedt, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Mary Cleerdin, and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cora Cleerdin; one step-daughter, Ginny Slechta, and her husband, Bob, of Crozet; four stepsons, Andrew Acquaro of Charlottesville, Robert Acquaro of Connecticut, Edward Acquaro of New Jersey, and Jason Kirt of Afton; six step-grandchildren; one brother, John Cleerdin of Dover, Del.; four sisters, Anne Marie Shinen of Manzanita, Ore., Connie Johnson of Pennington, N.J., Gerri Swain of Hamilton, N.J., and Liz Cleerdin of Rumson, N.J.
He was employed by the Faculty Housing Department of the University of Virginia until his medical leave in October 2003. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Maude B. Mayo
Maude Burgess Mayo, 88, of Charlottesville, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at her residence.
Born on Oct. 3, 1915, in Carters Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Burgess and Lula Perry Eades Burgess. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Mayo; three brothers; three sisters; and a son-in-law, Robert H. August.
Mrs. Mayo was a homemaker and is survived by a daughter, June August of Charlottesville; three grandchildren, Cathy Chaplin and her husband, Harry, of Afton, Karen Watters and her husband, David, of Atlanta, Ga., and Vickie Mawyer and her husband, Montie, of Troy; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Chaplin, Casey Chaplin, August Watters, Kelly Shifflett, Hunter Shifflett, and Kenny Mawyer; and several nieces and nephews.
