Edna Marie White
Edna Marie White, 41, of Palmyra, formerly of Charlotte, N.C., died Wednesday, March 24, 2004.
Born Sept. 21, 1962, she is the daughter of Edward and Cornelia Smith White of Palmyra.
She is also survived by four sisters, Pricilla Jackson, Dorothy Gaines and her husband, William, Phyllis Bradley and her husband, Walter, and Leslie White, all of Palmyra; and five brothers, Elwood White of Scotsville, John and Tommy White, both of Palmyra, Joseph White and his wife, Bonita, of Arvonia, and Charles White and his wife, Anita, of Louisa.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at the Thesalonia Baptist Church, Bremo Bluff, with the Rev. Robert Strothers officiating. Interment
will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Colbert Funeral Home, Bremo Bluff, today from noon to 7 p.m.

Charles Woodson
Charles Gillum Woodson, 85, of Crozet, died Saturday, March 27, 2004.
Born April 6, 1918, in Albemarle County, he was the son of the late John O. Woodson and Kathleen Jones Woodson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul.
Mr. Woodson was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Foster Woodson of Crozet; his son, Gary Gillum Woodson and his wife, Sue, of Lynchburg; his daughter, Barbara Woodson Joyntand her husband, Thomas, of Virginia Beach; and his two grandchildren, Andrew and Jennifer Woodson.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church cemetery, with the Rev. John S. Brenneke officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Western Albemarle Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 188, Crozet, VA, 22932.

Benjamin B. Bersch
Benjamin Bagwell Bersch, 82, peacefully passed at his home on Thursday, March 25, 2004.
Born Jan. 11, 1922, in Dillwyn, he was the son of the late Leslie Archer Bersch and Jane Williams Bersch.
Ben leaves behind his wife, Erecelle Taylor Bersch; two sons, David and his wife, Debbie, and Richard and his wife, Barbara, all of Dillwyn; one daughter, Janice Bersch of Madison; one brother, Victor Lightborn and his wife, Billee Bersch; one sister, Louise "Lou" Dunkum; six grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband; Leaf Martin, Brian, Emily, and Michael Bersch, all of Dillwyn, Jean Marie Dixon, Will Dixon and his wife, Helen, of Madison; four great-grandchildren, Orion, Ian, and Grant Martin, and Christian Dixon, all of Madison.
Ben was a devoted member, as well as a secretary and treasurer for many years of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Buckingham County Lions Club and Buckingham County Electorial Board.
He will be greatly missed by many loved ones and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn.

Sue Stublen Eure
Sue Stublen Eure, 70, of Williamsburg, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, March 25, 2004.
Sue, a native of Portsmouth, is survived by her husband of 52 years, William L. Eure; her four children, W. Bradford Eure and his wife, Christine, of Charlottesville, C. Wesley Eure and his wife, Laura B., of Williamsburg, Pamela E. Heinz of Chester, and Melinda E. Pilcher and her husband, Edwin D., of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren, Coleson, Tyler, Clayton, and Madison Eure of Charlottesville, Ryan and Logan Eure of Williamsburg, Carly and Anna Heinz of Chester. Mrs. Eure is also survived by two brothers, William S. Stublen Jr. and his wife, Dorothy B., of Portsmouth, Robert B. Stublen and his wife, Sue T., of Portsmouth; two sisters, Anne S. Young and her husband, W.C., of Madison, Miss., and Sandra S. Shelton of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews.
Sue's parents, William S. Stublen and Annie B Stublen; her sister, June S. Livermon and her husband, Wilford W., of Portsmouth, preceded her in death.
Sue was the co-founder of Eure Communications, Inc. Operators of Commercial Band Radio Stations, with her husband, and served as secretary/treasurer from 1970 until 2000. In addition to her corporate responsibilities, she served as controller and office manager of WXEZ - FM until her retirement from day to day activity in 2000.
Sue's integrity and conscientious dedication to principled business practices was a positive example to all having contact with her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister to all she leaves behind. Sue's natural dignity, humility, love and genuine Christian concern for her family and friends will remain an inspiration.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at the Bruton Parish Episcopal Church.

Curtis G. Gentry
Curtis G. Gentry, 96, of North Garden, died Monday, March 26, 2004, at his home.
Born Dec. 8, 1907, in Albemarle County, he was the son of the late Charles Lewis and Hester Clements Gentry and was the husband of the late Sylvia Rosemond Gentry. In addition, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mertie and Edna; and a brother, Cary.
Mr. Gentry was a lifelong farmer and was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Alease Templeton-Hudson and her husband, Frank, of North Garden; a son, Lewis G. Gentry and his wife, Margaret, of North Garden; a sister-in-law, Margaret Davis of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and special friend, Ann Baber.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church cemetery, with Mr. Jack Houchens officiating.

Mary Hope
Mary Elizabeth Crane Hope, 93, formerly of Atlanta, Ga., passed away Friday, March 26, 2004, at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge.
Born May 12, 1910, in Waterbury, Conn., she was the third child of Edward Anderson Crane and Elizabeth Hamilton Terrill.
Mary attended the University of Georgia where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority and president of the Women’s Student Government. After graduating in 1934 she worked as a home demonstration agent for the Georgia Power Company and the Connecticut Light and Power Company until her marriage to Charles Anderson Hope, of Gainesville, Ga. in 1937.
Her husband and a brother, Robert Terrill Crane of Woodbury, Ct. preceded her in death.
A son, Terrill Crane Hope of Albemarle County; three grandchildren, Terrill Bruce Hope, Dr. Charles Anderson Hope, and Mary Katherine Hope; and three great-grandchildren, survive her.
Mary will be buried beside her husband of 54 years in Atlanta, Ga.
Broadus W. Lohr Sr.
Funeral services for Broadus Walter "Buck" Lohr Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. today at Good Hope Baptist Church in Radiant, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. L.C. Vimpeny will officiate.
Mary Elizabeth Lowry
Mary Elizabeth Lowry, 90, of Charlottesville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 26, 2004.
Born June 21, 1913, in Crozet, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Betty Henry Boswell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Jefferson Lowry; three sons; eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Thacker and Elizabeth Fincham; two sons, Thomas N. Lowry and Carroll E. Lowry; 29 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at Teague Funeral Chapel. Interment
will follow in Riverview cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, at the funeral home.
Annie Mallory
Ms. Annie Mallory, 82, of Madison County, died Monday, March 22, 2004, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Born Aug. 19, 1921, in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Eliza Ward Mallory.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Martha A. Johnson and her husband, Robert, of Madison; a sister, Lucy Addison of Madison; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her remains will lie in state from noon to 1 p.m. today, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. today at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, in Tanners. Interment
will take place at the church, with pastor Walter Bryant officiating. There will be no visitation.
Oscar McCauley
Oscar McCauley, 68, of Charlottesville departed this world peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 25, 2004.
Born April 8, 1936, in Charlottesville, the son of the late Oscar Shepherd McCauley and Josephine Shaver McCauley.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired gentleman.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Edna Maupin McCauley; two sisters, Nellie Wood of Richmond and Catherine Harmon of Buckingham; four sons, Lewis Franklin McCauley of Dillwyn, Oscar Junior McCauley III of Troy, Norman Edward McCauley of Staunton, and Boyd Joseph McCauley of Barboursville; one daughter, Edna McCauley Hunter of Waynesboro; 12 grandchildren, Lewis F. McCauley Jr., Samuel S. McCauley, Judy E. Morris, Oscar J. McCauley IV, Karen S. Morris, Lisa M. McCauley, Bobby Jenkins, Edna N. Conley; Charles R. Conley II, Shawn C. Ganoe, Shane R. Ganoe, and Boyd J. McCauley Jr.; and 17 great-grandchildren, Sarah E. McCauley, James E. Morris III, Samantha E. Morris, Julia E. Morris, Oscar J. McCauley, V. Ryan Pleasant, Sarah K. Morris, Jacob P. McCauley, Michael Schrader II, Destiny Schrader, Kaligia W. Schrader, Edward W.M. Shaver, III, William R. Shaver, Cordell T. Shaver, Faith N. Conley, Brianna J. Conley, and Charles R. Conley III; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Opal S. Murray
Opal Strickland Murray, 83, of Walters Road, Orange, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the Orange County Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 14, 1920, in Barboursville, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Strickland and Carrie Belle Miller Strickland. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth C. Murray.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Murray Wallace and her husband, William, of Hingman, Mass.; a son, Kenneth Murray II and his wife, Sandy, of Orange; a grandchild, Kathryn C. Murray of Seattle, Wash.; and a brother, John Strickland and his wife, Gladys, of Orange.
She was a member of the Orange Presbyterian Church, an Army nurse during WWII, and retired from the Orange County school system.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Orange Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William Nickels officiating. Interment
will be private at a later date.
