Dorothy Baber
Dorothy Baber, 83, of Charlottesville, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, in a local hospital.
Born Sept. 20, 1920, in Nelson County, Va., she was the daughter of the late James Kirby and Consuelo Truslow Kirby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ashby Baber, two brothers, and two sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Ester Baber Teal and her husband, Larry, and Elvra May Hoy Baber; one son, Daniel Ashby Baber; and one brother, Clarence Kirby.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Holy Cross Episcopal Churchyard in Batesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ARC of the Piedmont.

Annie B. Carver
Annie B. Carver, 81, of Alberene, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, in a local nursing facility.
Born July 22, 1922, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late William Cleveland and Minnie Thacker Carver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Carver.
She is survived by one sister, Evelyn M. Davis; nieces and nephews, Thomas Edward Davis of Washington, Patricia Glass of Faber, William Davis of Scottsville, Martha Smith, Wayne Davis and Wallace Davis, all of Schuyler, and Pam Peterson of Madison Heights; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Miss Carver will be interred in the Glass Family cemetery.

Eleanor S. Corlette
Eleanor S. Corlett, 65, formerly of Charlottesville, died at her home in Richmond on Monday, March 15, 2004, after a long illness.
Ms. Corlett was born Eleanor Harford Sawyer in St. Louis on September 9, 1938, the eldest of F. Burton and Mary H. Sawyer. She graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a Bachelors Degree in psychology and later earned a Masters Degree in Counseling from George Mason University. She worked both nationally and internationally as a trainer and consultant, using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to help individuals, couples, and organizations of all types become healthier and more productive. Her book, Navigating Mid-life Using Typology as a Guide (co-authored by Nancy Milner), continues to sell widely.
Ms Corlett was an accomplished pianist and choral musician. She conducted several children’s choruses and musicals, directed her church choir for a time, arranged music for a folk music trio, and sang with the Fairfax (Virginia) Choral Society for fifteen seasons. She also painted beautifully in the Japanese sumie water color style.
Ms. Corlett is survived by her husband, John G. Corlett of Charlottesville; her son Eric M. North and wife, Jammie of Ionia, Michigan; her daughter, Kristin N. Eye and husband Randy, of Mechanicsville; and two grandsons, Kevin and Jeremy Eye of Mechanicsville. She is also survived by two brothers, Bill Sawyer of Hawaii and Darrell Sawyer of Manchester, Mo.; two sisters, Cathi Rose of Phoenix, Ariz. and Debbie Strathman of Baldwin, Mo.; and a special sister-in-law, Cathie Berg of Gainesville, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2004, at Lebanon United Methodist Church at 8492 Peaks Road, Hanover, Va.

Ruby C. Garnett
Ruby Christina Cornett Garnett, 81, of Crozet, died at her residence Tuesday, March 16, 2004.
Born Nov. 2, 1922, in Marion, Va., she was the daughter of the late Carl Cox Cornett and Anna Laura Cornett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Nottingham Garnett Sr.; one brother, Joseph Cornett, and four sisters, Pauline Brown, Pearl Green, Charlotte Bradley and Pan Pannill.
She is survived by three sons, E.N. Garnett Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Charlottesville, Va., Charles Cox Garnett, and his wife, Linda, of Abingdon, Va., and James Mercer Garnett and his wife, Jill, of Crozet, Va.; one daughter, Nancy Garnett Osborne and her husband, Bob, of Glenside, Pa.; two sisters, Margaret Worley of Blacksburg, Va., and Louise Warren of Marion, Va.; four brothers-in-law, Dr. James Green of Falls Church, Dr.Robert Bradley of Charlottesville, Dr. Paul Brown of Jonesborough, Tenn., and Knox Pannill of Montana, and two sisters-in-law, Leota Cornett of Roanoke and Yates Garnett of Charlottesville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Laura Garnett Wall and her husband, Andy, of Washington, D.C., Scott Garnett and his wife, April, of Richmond, Christina Garnett of Richmond, Julie Garnett of Fedricksburg, Jennie Garnett of Crozet, Leigh Osborne of Glenside, Pa., Brian Osborne of Glenside, Pa., and James Garnett of Crozet; one great-grandchild, Ella Grace Garnett of Richmond, and many nieces, nephews and close friends whom she loved dearly.
Ruby was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joys were the Lord, her family, and cutting the grass on her riding lawn mower. She will be remembered by her service to others and especially for her devotion to her grandchildren.
She was an active member and volunteer of Trinity Presbyterian Church and was involved in Precept Bible Studies, Love INC. and the Olive Tree.
Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Trinity Presbyterian Church at 3101, Fontaine Avenue, Charlottesville, Va., for visitation.
Following a family-only graveside burial service, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Hall and the Rev. Tony Giles officiating. A reception will take place in the church social hall immediately following the service.

Louise W. Griffith
Louise W. Griffith, 89, died unexpectedly in an Alexandria hospital Wednesday, March l7, 2004, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Baxter Griffith.
Born on Nov. 11, 1914, in Charlotte County, to the late J.T. Williams and Bessie Chappell Williams.
She is survived by a son, R. Baxter Griffith Jr. of Springfield, Va.; a daughter, Brenda Wright of Gordonsville, Va.; a sister, Marion Watson of Dallas, Texas; one brother, James T. Williams of Christiansburg, Va.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was a long time resident of the Crozet community and faithful member of Crozet Baptist Church. She was a teacher and librarian until she retired from Henrico Public Schools.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at Crozet Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Crozet Baptist Church. Interment
will follow in Rockgate cemetery, Crozet, with Dr. Roy S. Thomas III and the Rev. David Collyer officiating.

Mark E. Griffin
Mark Emory Griffin, 34, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Charlottesville and Dinwiddie, Va., died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Columbus Subacute and Rehabilitation Center.
Mark attended technical school and Church of God. He loved music, movies and sports.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wiley Griffin and Ruby Coleman.
Mark is survived by his loving parents, Robert E. and Joyce C. Griffin; a son, Hunter Dean Powell; two brothers, Glen A. Griffin and his wife, Deborah, and Travis W. Griffin and his wife, Jennifer; maternal grandparents, William R. and Margaret Caton; nieces, Erica, Danielle and Brooke; Hunters mother, Cathleen Powell and Hunter’s sisters, Heather and Haley Powell.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2004, in the Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Hopewell, Va.

Audrey Lee Parrish
Audrey Lee Parrish, 68, of New Canton, Va., died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Dumfries, Va.
Born Nov. 28, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Betty Dunnaway Lee. She was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Parrish, and a foster son, Louis Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Russell; two sons, Roger of New Canton and Thom of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three daughters, Sabrina Massie and her husband, Layland, of Hamilton, Ga., Lisa Trujillio and her husband, Mike, of Dumfries, Va., and Beth Rogers and her husband, Danny, of Allen, Texas; two brothers, Warren "Buddy" Lee and his wife, Sondra, of Lynchburg and Maurice "Joe" Lee and his wife, Ann, of Clearwater, Okla., 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Colbert Funeral Home Chapel, Bremo Bluff, Va., with the Rev. John Mann officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kedron Baptist Church cemetery, Gladys, Va.

Homer Sandridge Sr.
Homer M. Sandridge, Sr., 88, of Crozet, died at his residence Wednesday, March 17, 2004.
Born Jan. 25, 1916, in Mountfair, Va., he was the son of the late Laurie K. and Vertie B. Sandridge. He was preceded in death by four brothers Dabney, Horace, Moses and James and one sister Agnes.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Wine Sandridge of 64 years; a son, Homer Sandridge Jr. and his wife Sherry of Arnold, Md.; a daughter, Linda Stone of Frederick, Md., brothers, Laurie K. and his wife, Helen, of San Antonio, Texas, Sidney and his wife, Gladys, of Harvest, Ala.; sisters, Mary Sandridge and Dorothy Beitzel and her husband, Roderick, of Crozet. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Sara Stone of Frederick, Md., Jason Sandridge of Arlington, Va., and Gray Sandridge and his wife Aileen of Seattle, Wash.
He was a member of Crozet United Methodist Church since l946, and was very active in that church for many years. He served in the US Army in l945-1946, was a member of Greenwood Ruritan Club. He enjoyed 42 years of service with Dupont in Waynesboro. After retiring in l977, he worked part-time at Crozet Foods. He enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and always had a pretty lawn.
There will be a private burial for immediate family.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the Crozet United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Rash officiating.
Family will receive friends following the service at the church.

David Early Sholes, 69, of Orange, formerly of Madison County, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the Fredericksburg Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 9, 1934, in Greene County, he was the son of the late Tom Sholes and the late Dellie Shifflett Sholes.
Mr. Sholes is survived by a brother, Sam Sholes of Ruckersville; one sister, Eunice Collier and her husband, Lester, of Barboursville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at the Sholes Family cemetery in Middle River, Greene County. Pastor Josh Shifflett will officiate.
