Mildred Kaulback
Mildred Van Lear Kaulback, 90, of Oakton, and formerly of Charlottesville, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at her residence.
Mrs. Kaulback was born and raised in Waynesboro, Va. After attending the College of William and Mary, she pursued a brief career as an elementary school teacher in Charlottesville, where she continued to reside throughout most of her adult life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank S. Kaulback Jr., and was active with the Faculty Wives Club during his career at the University of Virginia. Mrs. Kaulback was a member of local bridge clubs, book clubs, and various community service groups.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Frank S. Kaulback III and Ella R. Kaulback of Oak Hill; two grandchildren, Gordon Russell Kaulback and Katherine Lindsay Kaulback; and a sister, Louise V. Kaulback of Salem.
The family will receive friends at Hill & Wood Funeral Home, 201 N. First St., Charlottesville, Va., on Monday, March 15, 2004, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Interment
will be private.

Bernard F. Lamb
Bernard Franklin "Boo" Lamb, 74, of Ruckersville, passed away Friday, March 12, 2004, at a Charlottesville hospital.
He was born Aug. 20, 1929, a son of the late Jimmy and Pearl Bell Lamb. His wife was the late Lizzie A. Lamb.
He is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Lamb and Carolyn Barksdale of Troy and Alice Jenkins and Doris Anderson of Ruckersville; two sons, Hollis Lamb of Charlottesville and Glen Lamb of Ruckersville; two brothers, Walter Lamb of Maryland and Scott Lamb of Ruckersville; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Evergreen cemetery, Dyke.
Kristine Mary Mastellone
Kristine Mary Mastellone, 44, of Ruckersville, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, in Ruckersville.
She was born Dec. 17, 1959 in Bronx, N.Y. She is the daughter of Theresa Klauer and the late Julius Klauer.
Kristine was, with her husband owner and operator of Vinny’s Restaurant in Ruckersville. She was awarded the Citizen of the Year for the past two years in Ruckersville.
She is survived by her husband, Vincent P. Mastellone of Ruckersville; two loving daughters, Alexis Nicole Mastellone and Angela Marie Mastellone; and two brothers, Walter Klauer and his wife, Sherry, of Lake Monticello and Steven Klauer and his wife, Sara, of Greene County.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel, Madison, with Father Dan Bain officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at the funeral home.
William K. McGehee
William Kennedy "Chuck" McGehee, 82, died Friday, March 12, 2004. A native and lifelong resident of Hampton, he was a member of VFW Post 3219; American Legion Post 48, where he was also a past commander; Hampton Elks Lodge #366, BPOE; and the Newport News Apprentice Alumni Association.
Mr. McGehee graduated from the Newport News Shipyard Apprentice School in 1948 and retired in 1984 as a machinist inspector after 37 years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and in the Army during the Korean War. He then served in the Virginia National Guard, retiring in 1962.
preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Luther McGehee, Mr. McGehee is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Joseph Sanzo of Hampton, Kathleen and Dave Yarashes of Hampton, Linda and Stacey Mills of Charlottesville; six grandchildren, Jody Sanzo, Karen Crum, Jason Yarashes, Lindsey Yarashes, Elizabeth Mills, and Anne Mills; one great-granddaughter, Victoria Sanzo. Additionally, he leaves behind a beloved brother-in-law and wife, Thomas and Jayne Lewis; his youthful playmate and cousin, Nelson Payne and his wife, Vickie.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Hampton, with the Rev. Henry B. Sudduth officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight, at the funeral home.
As a young boy, Chuck spent summers with his cousins in Goochland County and acquired a real love for the country. He and his wife Dorothy brought their three daughters on vacations to the Blue Ridge Mountains in summer and fall, and in later years he visited Charlottesville often, always enjoying the first glimpse of the mountains from Interstate 64. Even though he spent his life near the Chesapeake Bay, this area was very dear to him.
Every family moment was special to Chuck. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered with love by many.

Mary Glass Meeks
Mary Glass Meeks, March 20, 1917 to Jan. 29, 2004.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2004, at her residence, 4925 Meeks Run, Crozet, Va. Friends and relatives are invited.
Dock B. Mills
Dock Brent Mills, 81, died March 11, 2004, as a result of an automobile accident.
Born Sept. 4, 1922, in Albemarle County, he was the son of the late Willie Brent and Maude A. Brooks Durham Mills. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Peter Paul Mills and Lester Brent Mills; a great-grandson, Skyler Cook; four brothers, Andrew J. Mills, Willie J. Mills, James Rosser Durham and Benjamin Durham; eight sisters, Virginia Street Giannini, Emma Bingler, Lillie Bingler, Sarah Giannini Wood, Annie Fitzgerald, Florence Hill, Caroline Durham and Viola Durham.
Dock served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a faithful member of the Merry Mates Sunday School class at Cherry Avenue Christian Church. He was retired after many years of service from Monticello Dairy. He loved life, people and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Susan "Susie" Mills; a son, Carl Kenneth "Kenny" Mills and his wife, Brenda; a granddaughter, Stacey Lynn Mills Cook and her husband, Thomas; two great-grandsons, Thomas Brent Cook and William Austin Cook; daughter-in law, Nancy Clements Mills, two step-grandchildren, Melinda Lee Mills Robertson and Jeffrey Wayne Mills; and three step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, at Cherry Avenue Christian Church, with Mr. Harv Ayers and Mr. Stan Martin officiating.
Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Octavia A. Peyton
Octavia Anderson Peyton died Thursday, March 4, 2004, in Sante Fe, N.M.
She was born in Charlottesville on Nov. 6, 1904, the daughter of Thomas Pendleton Peyton and Annie Buck Hill Peyton.
Miss Peyton lived for many years in New York City and was retired from the New York Public Library.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Jean Peyton Seeley of Crozet, Thomas P. Peyton III of Brookhaven, Mass., Chas. C. Peyton of Pensacola, Fla., Herbert Hill Peyton Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Sarah Peyton McCord of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Peyton Verdick of Middletown, Conn., and Peyton Scott of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by Walter Gaines Peyton, of Charleston, S.C., and Anne Hill Peyton Keene.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Maplewood cemetery, Charlottesville.

Edwina Roselle Sims
Edwina Roselle Sims departed this Earth on which we live and joined the angelic host on April 21, 2001. She was born on June 6, 1966, daughter of Edward F. Sims, Sr. and Kathryn M. Sims.
Edwina was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Arthur L. Sims and her maternal grandfather, James E. Brown Sr.
Edwina was loved by all who came into her presence. She was to us, here on Earth, an angel. May she, here on Earth, rest in peace and in heaven watch over us all.
Edwina is survived by her maternal grandmother, Susie B. Terrell; and her paternal grandmother, Mary Alice Sims; one son, Orlando S. Watkins Jr.; one daughter, Taylor Nichole Coulter; her mother, Kathryn M. Sims; her father and his wife, Edward and Mora Sims Sr.; a brother, Tim Sims; and a step-brother, Frederick Eric Barbour; devoted friends, Orlando S. Watkins Sr., Lenora Thomas and Anne Albright; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. March 20, 2004, at Teague Funeral Home.

William Lee "Billy" Tibbs
William Lee "Billy" Tibbs, 23, of Buena Vista, died Friday, March 12, 2004. He was born May 6, 1980, in Mullens, W.Va., son of Gary Lee and Connie Brown Tibbs.
Billy graduated from Buckingham County High School in 1998. He was a member of Goshen Baptist Church in Buckingham, and attended the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was employed by Dana Corporation.
He is survived by his parents, Gary and Connie Tibbs of Buckingham; his wife, Kimberly Cannady Tibbs; and his children, Jenisha, Tyreke and Jakia; sisters, Patricia Arline Dale and Ginger Rae Tibbs, both of Buckingham; his grandparents, Lester and Arline Brown and Rev. George and Charlotte Woods, all of Buckingham; and great-grandmother, Lonie Brown of Roanoke.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. at the Lomax Funeral Home, with the Rev. W.A. Mills officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2004, at Scottsville cemetery, with the Rev. James Wilson officiating.

Henry Lewis Walker Sr.
Deacon Henry Lewis Walker Sr., 77, of Orange County, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Culpeper Regional Hospital.
He was retired from the Orange County school system.
Born Sept. 30, 1926, in Orange County, he was the son of the late Robert and Emma Williams Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela K. Walker of Orange; one son, Henry Lewis Walker Jr. (Larry) of Woodbridge; three step-sons, Michael Kemper of Detroit, Mich., Alexis Kemper of Washington, D.C., and Jeffrey Kemper of Syria; one daughter, Miss Carolyn D. Walker of New Orleans, La.; one sister, Mae Ellis and her husband, George, of Culpeper; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Wayland Blueridge Baptist Center, Ryland Chapel Road, Rixeyville, with interment in Westview cemetery, Orange. Pastor Reese Washington will officiate.

Kathleen L. Bradley
Kathleen Layman Bradley, of Charlottesville, died on July 17, 2003, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Born October 6, 1923, in Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest A. and Sallie Sellers Layman.
Mrs. Bradley was a graduate of Madison College, and a former elementary school teacher. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Bradley is survived by her husband, Stonnell F. Bradley, a daughter, Tana Bradley Herndon of Charlottesville, a granddaughter, Christina Eva Herndon of Charlottesville, two sisters, Evelyn L. Miller of Harrisonburg and Helen L. Hillyard and her husband Eugene of Harrisonburg, four nephews, and three nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Randall C. Herndon.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2003, at 11 AM in the Hebron Baptist Church cemetery, Afton with the Reverend Harry Kennon officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, July 20, 2003, from 4 to 5 PM.

Lottie M. Corbett
Lottie M. Corbett, 104, of the Mustoe community in Highland County, died Wednesday July 16, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Treva "Betsy" Rankin, in Waynesboro.
She was born May 16, 1922, she married
Charles "Cleveland" Corbett who died January 25, 1976.
She was a homemaker and a former member of Seig Hudson Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Cletus Margaret Corbett; a grandson, Donnie Hicks; a great grandchild, Andy Martin; a great great granddaughter, Selena Chestnut; and a sister, Nela White Ingram; 3 son-in-laws, Leroy Shaffier, Dolphos Hicks, Russell Waybright.
She is survived by five daughters, Delana M. Shaffier of Warm Springs, Mercedes Virginia Hicks of Litchfield, Ariz, Dare Waybright of Greenwood; Treva "Betsy" Rankin and husband, Robert M. Jr., of Waynesboro, and Annalee Good and husband, Douglas, of Grottoes; two sons, Charles "Sonny" Corbett and wife, Margaret, of Haslett, Mich., and Port Richie, Fla., and Lucius E. "Bert" Corbett and wife, Loxie, of Elyria, Ohio; a grandson, Richard Hicks, whom she raised, and wife, Bonnie, of Monterey; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; one great great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many, many special friends.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday (July 20, 2003) at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with the Rev. Michael Sullivan officiating Burial will be in Monterey cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Rodger Kropff; Calvin Sherman, Drew and Andy Taleferro, and Tom Deuell.
Flowerbearers will be the grandchildren and friends.
