Johnny E. Corbin
Johnny E. Corbin, 76, of Orange died Saturday July 26, 2003 at the Orange County Nursing Home. Born March 5, 1927 in Orange County. He was the son of the late John A. Corbin and the late Josephine Ballard Corbin. He was a retired employee of Reynolds Pontiac and Herndon Chevrolet and a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Georgiana Hahn Corbin of Orange, one daughter Tammy J. Seay of Orange, son Johnny E. Corbin, Jr. and wife Laura of Amissville, one brother Lawrence Corbin and wife Betty of Orange, two sisters Dorothy Cash and husband Bernard of Ruther Glen and Margaret Southard of Orange, three grandchildren Jonathan Skinner, Kerri Skinner, Hunter Corbin, three step grandchildren Sara Hicks, Mike Hicks and Matt Hicks, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Mack Corbin, Harold Corbin, Robert Corbin and Roy Corbin, one sister Annie Edwards.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. from the Preddy Funeral Chapel Orange with interment in Graham cemetery wilt full military honors by American Legion Post #330 of Culpeper. The Rev. Mort Robson and the Rev. John Hodgen will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on this evening at the Preddy Funeral Chapel 250 W. Main St. orange.

A memorial service for Shirley Etten Barlow Cortada will be held Tuesday July 29, 2003 at 2 p.m. from the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Orang with interment in Grahma cemetery. The Rev. Scott Hennessy will officiate.

Page W. Foster
Page Warren Foster, 71, of Charlottesville, Va. died early Saturday morning at Rosewood Village. Born June 13, 1932 in Albemarle County to the late Willie Francis and Ruth Ballard Foster.
Mr. Foster owned a clothing store Page Foster, Inc. on the downtown mall from 1965-1996. He was admired for his excellent taste in clothing and devotion to serving the people of Charlottesville.
He served with the United States Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of the Young Men’s Business Club and The Downtown Merchants Association.
He is survived by his son Page Foster, Jr. of Charlottesville; his daughter Valerie ErkenBrack of Virginia Beach; Bonnie Ricciardelli of Wilmington, Nc; 5 grandchildren, Kristina, Hunter and Neal ErkenBrack, Taryn and Nathan Ricciardelli, his brothers Linwood of Richardson, Tx., and Aubrey of Roswell, Ga. He is preceded in death by sisters Lavon Swift and Fay Jones; his brothers Wentworth, Sinclair, Francis, and Emory.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Mountain Plain cemetery in Crozet, Va. with Rev. David E. Collyer, officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday July 28th at Hill & Wood from 6-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont.

David T. Coiner
David Tressel Coiner, 86, of Charlottesville, Va., died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at noon at The Colonnades, Charlottesville.
He was born January 13, 1917, in Waynesboro, Va., the elder son of David T. Coiner Sr. and Katie Belle Robson Coiner.
He was a graduate of Fishburne Military School and the School of Engineering, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. From 1938 through 1940, he was employed as an industrial engineer with the DuPont plant in Waynesboro.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1941. Among his noteworthy military experiences were the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Normandy Invasion, the liberation of Paris, and the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded a number of decorations including the Bronze Star medal and the Belgian Military Cross. He retired from the Army in 1961, with the grade of Lt. Col.
Subsequent to his military career he served as the Civil Defense Coordinator of Augusta County. He was also engaged in the production of livestock and inaugurated and managed a program of recruiting students from Latin American countries for study in the United States. An avid traveler, he visited some 65 countries on six continents.
He was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church of Charlottesville, was a former officer of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Staunton, was a former member of the Rotary Club of Staunton, the Retired Officers Association, and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Katie Schwab Coiner; two sons, Stephen M. of Lexington, Va. and Charles B. of Miami, Fla.; two granddaughters; one grandson; and a brother, John R. Coiner of Blacksburg, Va.
A service will be conducted Saturday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at Olivet Presbyterian Church, 2575 Garth Rd., Charlottesville by Dr. Albert Connette, followed by burial in Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery, Crimora, at 2 p.m., with military honors by Stuarts Draft VFW Post #9339.
Active pallbearers will be John Coiner, Mike Cale, Connie Embrey, Joe Gorrell, E.C. Schwab, and Edward Schwab. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Early, William Hitt, William Jessup, Mundy Leake, David Mahanes, Hugh McCauley, Bill Parsons, Wayne Payne, Ward Reubush, Ralph Schwab, and Walter Schwab.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at McDow Funeral Home, 1701 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Va.

David B. Dansey
David Brantly Dansey, 38, of Scottsville, died Sunday July 20, 2003 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Ann Loving Dansey; three daughters, Emily Loving Dansey, Virginia Brantly Dansey, and Olivia Ann Dansey; his parents, George W. Dansey and Jean M. Dansey; a brother, Douglas W. Dansey; a sister, Daphne Jung; and an uncle, E. Leroy Dansey.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Scottsville, with the Reverend Dr. J. Edwin Pippin and the Reverend Peter Way officiating. Interment
will follow in Scottsville cemetery.

Daniel Caleb Denby
Daniel Caleb Denby died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at his residence in Madrid, Spain. He was born on June 9, 1942, in Washington, D.C.
He was married
for 21 years to Sheila Denby. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Miriam Denby, in 1977 and his father, Caleb Norfleet Denby, in 1999.
He is survived by two sons, Paul Denby and Nick Denby; his mother, Beatrice Rioux Denby of Charlottesville, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Toni Aldridge of Scottsville, Va.; and seven brothers, Keith Denby, Kevin Denby, and Shawn Denby of Scottsville, Va., Brian Denby and Paul Denby of Dallas, Texas, Gary Denby of Pattaya, Thailand, Eric Denby of Charlottesville, Va.
Daniel held a B.S. degree in Mathematics (1964 – College of William and Mary) and a Ph. D. in Mathematical Statistics, Operations Research and Industrial Engineering (1968 – Virginia Tech). Following a varied professional consulting and entrepreneurial career, Daniel founded REDIRECTION in 1983, a business brokerage firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions.
There will be a memorial service held in August 2003 at the St. George Catholic Church on Route 20 in Scottsville, Va. Details to follow at a later date.
Pauline F. Dudley
Pauline Faris Dudley, wife of the late Robert L. Dudley of Silver Spring, Maryland, died July 22, 2003, after a short illness.
Born September 24, 1914, in Albemarle County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Bettie Faris.
She retired from Tastee Diner.
Survivors include her children, Henry Thacker of Bremo Bluff; Matilda Thacker Ramella and her husband, Bernardo, of Silver Spring, Maryland; the late Harrison Thacker and his wife, Diane, of Charlottesville; a sister-in-law, Lee Faris of North Garden; beloved nephews by marriage, whom she raised, Roger Dudley and his wife, Pam; Loman Dudley Jr. of Edgewater, Maryland; and Ronald Dudley and his wife, Karen, of Laurel, Maryland; 16 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.; and her best friend, Betty Zimmerman.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 – 8 at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2003, at Hill & Wood Chapel with Rev. Sidney Craig officiating. Interment
will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Rosa G. Hartman
Rosa Lee Gallihugh Hartman, 77, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Orange, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Kettering Hospital in Kettering, Ohio.
Born September 16, 1925, in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Gallihugh and the late Edith Deal Gallihugh.
Mrs. Hartman was retired from Lane-Bryant clothing store.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances A. Middleton and husband, Cecil, of Orange; four sisters, Ruby G. Walker and husband, J.W., of Culpeper, June G. Chastain and husband, Ralph, of Oak Park, Bertha G. Johnson and husband, Bill, of Rochelle, and Edna G. Peyton of Madison; four brothers, Jesse Gallihugh and John Gallihugh, Shirley Gallihugh and wife, Madeline, all of Oak Park, Charles Gallihugh and wife, Anne May, of Keswick; daughter-in-law, Shelia M. Hartman, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two children, two sisters, Virginia A. Gallihugh and Sarah Garner, and a brother, Claude Gallihugh.
Graveside funeral services will be Saturday, July 26, 2003, in the North Pamunkey Baptist Church cemetery conducted by Dr. Mike Hatfield.

Madeline Mayo Jones
Mrs. Madeline "Myrtle" Mayo Jones, 66, died Sunday, July 6, 2003, at her home.
She was born August 9, 1936, to the late Samuel Bennett Mayo and Myrtle Eubanks Mayo. She attended school in Schuyler, Va.
Mrs. Jones was a devoted wife and mother. Upon her husband's retirement from the Army, the family moved to Schuyler, Va.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Cosby Arthur Jones Jr.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Sterling R. Jones and Ame L. Jones of Lovingston, Va., Anson T. Jones and Angela J. Jones of Shipman, Va., and Cosby Arthur Jones III and Michelle D. Jones of Vero Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Ms. Earsline Poindexter of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Cornelia Redd and Wallace Redd of Waynesboro, Va., Mrs. Laverne Lewis and Marcellos Lewis of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary Smith and Sam Smith of Faber, Va.; one brother, Mr. Wendell Mayo and Judy Mayo of Schuyler, Va.; a special niece, Ms. "Little Mary" Randolph of Charlottesville, Va.; five grandchildren, Shawn Lamar Jones of Shipman, Va., Gabrielle Marie Jones and Victoria Lauren Jones of Vero Beach, Fla., and Breanna Lyn Jones and John Mackenzie Jones of Lovingston, Va.; and a number of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at Mrs. Jones' home in Schuyler, Va., on Saturday, July 26, 2003.
Merriette W. Moore
Merriette Wade Moore, 81, formerly of Schuyler, died Tuesday July 22, 2003, at Lovingston Health Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Shelton Moore and Maybell Wade Moore and five brothers, Goldman, Donald, Kimball, Ralston and John Moore.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Elsie Fitzgerald Moore; 1 daughter, Debra Worley and her husband Ernest of Arrington; a sister-in-law, Lily Tyler and her husband, "Jr."; their daughter, Connie and her daughter, Caleigh, who was loved by Merriette like a granddaughter.
Mr. Moore was the General Superintendent for Georgia Marble until 1972 and he then retired in 1983 from the University of Virginia as an electrician. He was a faithful member of New Faith United Methodist Church, Schuyler.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. today at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottsville, with the Reverend Richard Darnell officiating.
Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens, Charlottesville.

Dorothy S. Reishman
Mrs. Vincent J. Reishman, born Dorothy Brawley Stark on August 23, 1914, in Charleston, W.Va., died on Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Charlottesville, Va.
For most of her life, Mrs. Reishman lived in the Kanawha Valley. She was a direct descendent of Moses Keeney, a pioneer settler in the Cabin Creek district of what was, in his day, Virginia, and the Reverend John Snyder, a Methodist missionary and settler in the area above Clendenin. She was the only child of Mary Brawley Stark and Norris Staunton Stark. Her husband, Vincent J. Reishman, was a hardware merchant and a former Charleston City Manager.
Mrs. Reishman is survived by three sons, John V. Reishman of Sewanee, Tenn., Robert S. Reishman and James M. Reishman of Charleston, and her cousin, R. Brawley Tracy, also of Charleston. She has seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Reishman left Charleston in 1991 to live at Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge, a retirement community in Charlottesville, Va. She was a member of St. Agnes and Sacred Heart Parishes in Charleston and of Holy Comforter Parish in Charlottesville and also of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was educated at Kanawha Grade School, Roosevelt Junior High School, Charleston High School, The Marjorie Webster School, and Marshall College.
There will be a memorial service for Mrs. Reishman at the chapel of Westminster Canterbury in Charlottesville today at 11 a.m. to be followed by a mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church in Charleston at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2003. Burial following the funeral will be at Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston.

Mary F. Robertson
Mary Frances Lawson Robertson died Tuesday, July 22 at a local nursing home.
She was born October 22, 1900, in Albemarle County, daughter of the late John Wesley and Lucy M. Lamb Lawson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel A. Robertson, one son, Daniel J. Robertson, and two daughters, Catherine R. Payne and Juanita R. Flower.
She leaves to cherish her memories, nine grandchildren, K.G. Flower and his wife, Yoon Hee, Robin Mathison and her husband, Jim, Deborah Nickles and her husband, Nick, Lee Robertson, Terry Duncan and her husband, Greg, Susan Payne and her fiance, Larry Bowles, Russ Payne and his wife, Dale, Candy Crenshaw and her husband, Greg, Jeff Payne and his wife, Barbara (Bicks). She also leaves 15 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, an "adopted granddaughter", Jeannie Boatwright, and many beloved friends.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and nurse that will be greatly missed by many whose lives were touched by her kindness, caring and prayers.
Mrs. Robertson attended Miller School, was a member of Monticello Wesleyan Church, and worked as an LPN at Blue Ridge Sanitorium and UVa Hospital.
She was passionate about serving the Lord and gave all the glory to Him for her extended lifetime. God has closed his arms around her and taken her home where she longed to be.
The family would like to thank the staff and friends at Heritage Hall for their wonderful care during her residency there.
The funeral will be Saturday, July 26, 2 p.m. at Hill and Wood Chapel with burial in Monticello Memory Gardens to follow. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
