She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Billie Ruth Taylor of Galax, Gerald and Zenith Taylor of Pulaski, Larry and Michelle Taylor of Belton, TX; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Taylor, Patty and Mike Martin, Bonnie and Blaine Wright all of Galax; ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several step grandchildren. Funeral was Mar. 3 at 2 p.m. in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Jennings and the Rev. Ron Fredericks officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Clara Fay Beamer, 83, of Fancy Gap, died May 21, 2002. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Ralph Beamer of Fancy Gap, Rudolph and Judy Beamer of St. Albans, WV; ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral was May 24 at 11 a.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel conducted by the Rev. Wendell Horton and the Rev. Harris Easter. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery.
EULA B. DAVIS
Eula Beatrice Davis, 89, of Galax, died May 26, 2002, in Waddell Nursing Home. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Joe Cooley of Galax; sisters, Ruth Mills of Hendersonville, NC and Roma Williams of Chesapeake; brothers, Clyde Parrish of Winston-Salem, NC and Kenneth Parrish of Daytona Beach, FL; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Funeral was May 28 in Fairlawn Church of Christ with Keith Hommema and Norma Weaver officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
WALTER L. McMILLIAN
Walter Lester McMillian, 72, of Fancy Gap, died May 26, 2002, in Beverly Health Care-Blue Ridge. He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Brenda McMillian, Roger and Carol McMillian all of Galax, Charles and Sandra McMillian of Hillsville, Michael McMillian of Fancy Gap; three brothers, Rush McMillian of Hillsville, Glen Eugene McMillian Bradley of High Point, NC, Marvin McMillian of Delaware; two sisters, Ila McMillian Barner of Staunton, Cara Belle Dalton of Pulaski; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Funeral will be May 29 at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel. Officiating ministers will be the Rev. Clarence Marshall and the Rev. Eugene Cassell. Burial will be in Gladesboro Cemetery.

Dale Webb, 75, of Laurel Fork, died May 22, 2002. He is survived by three sons, Marlon Webb of Farmville, Irvin Webb of Atlanta, GA and Steven Moles of Hackett Town, NJ; two brothers, Howard Webb and Junior Webb both of Laurel Fork; two sisters, June Kelly of Bristol, TN and Mildred Puckett of Laurel Fork; five grandchildren. Funeral was May 24 at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Woods officiating. Burial was in the Webb Cemetery.
JACK W. AKERS
Jack Warren Akers, 80, of Hillsville, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002, in Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Akers was a former employee of Norfolk and Western Railway and had a 35 year career in insurance sales. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 30 years. He was also a former Mayor of Hillsville and was a candidate for this year's office. Mr. Akers was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Dorcas Roberts Akers; a sister, Mary Thompson; three brothers, Emmet, Buster and John Akers and a son, Wilbur Akers. He is survived by his wife, Frances Akers of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Claudine and Ronnie Hinkle of Alderson, WV, Shirley and David Bays and Brenda and Carl Harmon all of Hillsville; son and daughter-in-law, Woody and Jean Purdy of Falls Church, VA; two sisters, Aeiretta Campana of Cleveland, OH and Gladys Zeek of Orlando, FL; a sister-in-law, Avonell Akers of Stuart, FL; seven grandchildren and spouses, Ronald Hinkle, Jr., Rhonda and David Combs, Adam and Cndy Joyce, Dustin Harmon, Kim and Rob Boswell, Dr. Debra Bays, Billie Jo and Mike Sharp; 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral was Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hillsville with the Rev. Ramon Torres and the Rev. David Bays officiating. Burial was in the Wilkinson Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 15 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel.
OLEN R. EDWARDS
Olen Rush Edwards, 59, of Riner, formerly of Hillsville, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2002. He devoted 37 years of his life as an Engineering Technician with the Virginia Department of Transportation and spent four years in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hillsville. Olen was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and spending time in the woods. He is preceded in death by his father, Gleaves "Pete" Edwards. Surviving are his wife, Thelma (Tabby) Stevens Thomas Edwards; his mother, Dorothy Edwards of Hillsville; a sister, Merle Goad of Hillsville; children and spouses, Lisa and Rodney Nearbin, USAF, Speicher, Germany, Angie and Bryan Cridlin of Christiansburg, Kimberly Thomas of Sterling, VA and Brian Thomas of Roanoke; four beloved grandchildren, David and Kristen Nearbin and Jacob and Aaron Cridlin; a very special nephew Garry Goad of Woodlawn; beloved niece and spouse, Kathy and Bobby Nester of Hillsville; great-niece and nephew Danielle and Robbie Nester; broth -in-law and spouse, Norman and Shirley Stevens of Riner and many other relatives and special friends. He had many friends and relatives who prayed, visited and sent cards during his short illness. Thanks to everyone for their kindness. A special thanks to Dr. Leslie Badillo for his time and gentle caring. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg with the Rev. Monroe Hedrick officiating. Interment was in Sunset Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 12 at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Good Samaritan Hospice, Roanoke, the American Cancer Society or the Christiansburg Rescue Squad.

Junior Isaiah Martin, 77, of Pulaski, died April 13, 2002. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry James and Teena Martin of Draper, Michael Glenn and Donna Martin of Radford; one brother, Johnny Martin of Norfolk; one sister, India McNeely of Barren Springs; four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter. Funeral was April 15 at 1 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel conducted by Pastor Carson Linkous. Burial was in the Hardy-Jenkins Cemetery. Military Rites were conducted by Hillsville VFW Post 1115.

Floyd Elmer Midkiff, 90, of Hillsville, died April 9, 2002 in Grayson Nursing & Rehab Center, Independence. He is survived by his wife, Tiny Midkiff of the home; step son and spouse, Donald and Betty Guynn of Sparta, NC; step daughter, Betty Jean Billings of South Carolina; three step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren. A grave side service was held April 11 at 1 p.m. at the Hardy-Jenkins Cemetery with the Rev. Grover Guynn officiating.

Mary Ruth Monday, 77, of Galax, died April 9, 2002 in Twin County Regional Hospital. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Wayne Poole, Jeana and Kevin Beckner all of Independence, Zella and Ronnie Coulson of Hillsville, Yvonne and Pete Cox of Galax; sisters, Jesse Easter of Woodlawn, Imogene Vass of Martinsville, Shelby Jean Goodson of Lowgap, NC; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Funeral was April 11 at 2 p.m. in East Galax Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Cassell and the Rev. Benny Haga officiating. Burial was in Monta Vista Cemetery with Auxiliary Rites by the Ladies Auxiliary Hillsville VFW Post 1115.

Thomas Hilly Morris, 89, of Galax, died April 12, 2002, in Twin County Regional Hospital. He is survived by daughters, Betty Lou Morris Johnson and Sarah Morris Funk both of Radford; sons, John Thomas Morris of Valdese, NC and Frank Edward Morris of Galax; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Funeral was April 21 at 2 p.m. in First Christian Church conducted by the Rev. Carl Bean. Burial was in Felts Memorial Cemetery.

Infant Kierra LeAnn Rhudy of Ivanhoe, died April 12, 2002 in Twin County Regional Hospital. She is survived by her parents, Scott and Casey Rhudy of Ivanhoe; half brother, Colby Scott Rhudy of Sylvatus; paternal grandparents, Ellen and Marshall Rhudy of Fries; paternal great-grandmother, Betty Funk of Fries; maternal grandparents, Lynn and Jimmy Sonner of Max Meadows; Maternal great-grandparents, Ted and Elizabeth Turner Jr. of Max Meadows, Virginia P. Waller of Pulaski. A grave side service was held April 14 in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Rance Edwards officiated.
