Mildred Rodgers
Mildred Trayham Rodgers, 86, 221 Clement Ave., died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 5, 1911, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Trayham.
She was a tobacco worker and a member of Nomley Methodist Church in Alton.
Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Dodson, Julia Rodgers and Elizabeth Rodgers, all of Danville, and Ella Brown of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sons, Willie Walker of East Orange, N.J., and Walter Rodgers of Clarkton, N.C., and William Rodgers of Danville; a brother, Richard Trayham of Alton; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday at L.H. Brooks & Bro. Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Townes.
Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.
The remains may be viewed at the funeral home until 8 p.m. today.
The family will be at the residence.
Sheryl Sigmon
Sheryl Dawson Sigmon, 48, 326 Autumn Lane, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, in Pittsylvania County.
Born Aug. 15, 1949, in Danville, she was a daughter of Douglas Dawson and Colleen Adams Lawton, who survive.
She was married
to W. Stephen Sigmon, who also survives.
She was a graduate of Averett College and received her master's degree from Lynchburg College.
She was a school teacher for Pittsylvania County School System, specializing in reading.
She was active in George Washington High School Band Boosters and also the Danville Soccer League.
She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, her mother of Richmond and her father of Danville, survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Sigmon of the residence; a son, Stephen Sigmon of the residence; a brother, Ronald Dawson of Portsmouth; a sister, Rebecca D. Moore of Richmond; and her stepmother, Vernie Dawson of Danville.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Ascension Lutheran Church by the Rev. Caldwell N. Day. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Susie Davis
Susie Bowen Davis, 765 Melrose Ave., died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center, following nine years of declining health.
Born May 14, 1909, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Henry Dempse Bowen and Kizzie Hendrick Bowen.
On Dec. 16, 1932, she was married
to Windon Clyde Davis, who died Nov. 17, 1985.
She spent her entire life in the Danville area, where she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Melville Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy D. Goolsby of Danville; two sons, Clyde Davis of Midlothian and Wallace Davis of Midwest, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from Melville Avenue Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Swanson. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel, and other times at the residence.
Rachel Deutsch
Rachel Gosney Deutsch, 81 of 915 Green St., died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, in her residence.
Born June 26, 1916, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of James Edward Gosney Sr. and Nannie Butcher Gosney.
She was married
to Frank J. Deutsch, who predeceased her on Feb. 11, 1990.
She was a graduate of Averett College and worked in the Research Division of Dan River Inc. until her retirement.
She is survived by one son, R. Wayne Brumfield, and daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Brumfield, both of the residence; and two grandchildren, Dr. Jay Brumfield of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Heather Brumfield of Norcross, Ga.
The Rev. Wayne Wallace will conduct a graveside service 11 a.m. Monday at Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Cathy Mayo
Cathy Nadine Mayo, 34, 1015 West Paxton St., died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 15, 1962, in Danville, she was a daughter of Ruth Mayo Waller, who survives, and Earl Garland.
She was employed as a nursing assistant at the Brian Center and was working on her nursing degree at Danville Community College.
In addition to her mother of Danville, survivors include two sisters, Brenda Mayo Scott and Robin Mayo, both of Danville; and six brothers, Nelson Mayo, Billy Mayo, Linwood Mayo and Barry Mayo, all of Danville, Tony Mayo of Chatham and Larry Mayo of Southampton.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday from Vance Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Herbert Dickerson. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park, where full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Memorial Post No. 325 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
George Cecil Seymore
George Cecil Seymore, 175 Ficklen Ave., died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, in his residence.
Born April 20, 1923, in Danville, he was a son of Robert Vann Seymore and Emma Maude Stone Seymore.
He was married
to Doris Chaney Seymore, who survives.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was employed by Norfolk-Southern Railroad for 35 years.
He was high constable in Danville for eight years.
He was a member of Woodberry Hills Baptist Church, Elks Lodge No. 287, Moose Lodge No. 952, and American Legion Post No. 325.
He was also a member of V.F.W. Post No. 647, T.P.A., Morotock Lodge No. 210, 32 Degree Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the Poquoson Tribe No. 124 of Red Men, and the Retired Railroad Club.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by a daughter, Judy Seymore of Danville.
He was predeceased by a son, Gary Wayne Seymore.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday in Mountain View cemetery by the Rev. Lewis Harris. Full military honors will be given by American Legion Memorial Post No. 325 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Joseph Walters Jr.
FT. BELVOIR - Joseph Milton Walters Jr., Col. USA Ret., 80, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at Mt. Vernon Hospital.
He was the husband of Doris Blair Walters, father of Bradford Blair Walters M.D., PhD., brother of Ruth Goforth, Frances Doley, Temple Craig, Opal Scarboro, Herschel and Carroll Walters.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Brendan Lee and Bethany Lynn Walters.
Friends may call at the Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria, on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at Ft. Myer Chapel (Old Post).
Interment will be in Arlington National cemetery with full honors.
Col. Walters was born in Danville.
Lillie Allen
Lillie C. Allen, 78, of 11608 Mount Cross Road, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Pittsylvania County.
She was a retired employee of Pannell Knitting in Martinsville.
She was a member of Bethel United Way of the Cross Church.
Survivors include three sons, Landon L. Allen, James Edd Allen and Charlie Clyde Allen, all of Danville; two daughters, Barbara Allen Conway of San Francisco and Mae Allen-Jones of Durham, N.C.; a brother, William H. Carter of Danville; a sister, Maude Devins of Axton; a foster sister, Norma Jean Meekins of Longhorn, Pa.; eight grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted noon Wednesday at Bethel United Way of the Cross Church by Apostle J. H. Adams. Interment
will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The viewing for family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cunningham and Hughes Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence.
