Funeral service was held April 30, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Vaughan - Guynn Chapel. Rev. Ken Blevins and Rev. Roy Taylor officiated. Interment was in Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Elmer Scott Tate, 82, of Fancy Gap, died April 26, 2005 at Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Tate, Fancy Gap; sons and daughters-in-law, Clayton and Faye Tate, Fancy Gap; Donald and Gloria Tate, MI; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Leroy Gardner, Woodlawn; Rachel and Terry Davis, Fancy Gap; Phyllis and Jay Grandel, Fancy Gap; sister, Mavis Tate, Fancy Gap; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. A memorial service was held on April 30 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at the Father's House Ministries in Fancy Gap. Pastor Mark Linkous officiated. Isom, Mamie Robinson
Mamie Robinson Isom age 90 of Independence, Virginia passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 in Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Isom was born in Galax, Virginia on December 18, 1918 to Kenny & Ida Burnett Robinson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands Palmer Stoneman and then Otie Isom and her brother Johnny Robinson; one granddaughter and one great-great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her children William Robert Stoneman of Mt. Airy, N.C.; Alice Ann Cain of Galax, Va. and Carl Lee Stoneman of Salem, Va.; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

Orby Kyress Alderman, 82, of Hillsville, died April 4, 2005 at Twin County Regional Hospital. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gaylon Brooks and Elsie Alderman, Petersburg; Orby Martin Alderman, Woodlawn; Carlos Edgar and Brenda Alderman, Vinton; daughters and son-in-law, Guilda Nester, Laurel Fork; Wanda Mullins, Hillsville; Velma and Van Nester, Christiansburg; sisters, Zelda Parnell, Austinville; Marie Wheeling, Richmond; Oleta Gravley, Draper; Docie Belle Newman, Austinville; Freida Gallimore, Galax; Nellie Gardner Shepherd, Pulaski; brother, Maynard Alderman, Austinville; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be April 6, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Vaughan - Guynn - McGrady Chapel in Hillsville. Mr. Nelson Gallimore will officiate. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Twin County Hospice at 308 S. Main Street, Galax, VA 24333.

Funeral service was held April 4, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Vaughan - Guynn Chapel. Rev. Rick Cassell and Rev. Fred Jennings officiated. Interment was in Monta Vista Cemetery.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Kathy Money, Galax; Myra and Victor Youngblood, Fries; son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Peggy Burnette, Galax; sister, Virginia Sisk, Max Meadows; brothers, Edward Sampson, PA; D. C. Sampson, SC; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great - great grandchild. Funeral service will be held April 6, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Hebron Church of Christ. Sammy Burnette and Billy Burnette will officiate. Interment will be in Lineberry Cemetery.
Glenn Okra "Oak" Coulson

Mr. Glenn Okra "Oak" Coulson, age 87, of 190 Willow Ave., Ararat, VA, husband of Mrs. Hazel Quesinberry Coulson passed away Tuesday night, March 29, 2005 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. He was born February 20, 1918 in Carroll County, VA to the late Thomas and Clementine McMillian Coulson. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army as a paratrooper and was a member of the Grover King Veterans of Foreign War Post in Hillsville, VA. He was presented the Silver Star and the Bronze Star while serving his country. Mr. Coulson was retired from Hercules Ammunition Plant in Radford, VA, was a member of Willow Hill Moravian Church and was a retired Orchardist. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Q. Coulson of the home; a daughter, Rebecca Coulson, Winston-Salem, NC; a former son-in-law and friend, Ric Hodges, Winston-Salem, NC; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Betty Coulson, Urbanna, VA; a granddaughter and husband, Wendy Coulson and Michael Murray, Hilton Head, SC; a great granddaughter, Caroline Coulson Murray, Hilton Head, SC; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Antionette and Everett Dawson, Ararat, VA; Alene Ayers, Cana, VA; Virginia May Ferguson, Lakeland, FL; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coulson was preceded in death by a daughter, Adaline Coulson; three sisters, Josie Hylton, Sylvia Yarborough and Mary Hiatt; two brothers, Clarence Coulson and Lester Coulson. Graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005 at Willow Hill Moravian Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy. Full military services were conducted at the graveside by the Grover King VFW Post, Hillsville, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of your choice. "He was our hero".

Funeral service was held March 31, 2005 at Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel at 2 p.m. Entombment followed in Westhampton Memorial Park.

Funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at the Vaughan - Guynn - McGrady Chapel. Rev. Frank Jones officiated. Burial was in the Alderman Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2005 at the Vaughan - Guynn - McGrady Chapel.

Thelma Ovela Lawson Harmon, 83, of Austinville, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Twin County Regional Hospital. She was born in Carroll County to Troy Franklin Lawson and Elva Bryant Lawson. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Rhudy Talmadge Harmon, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Reiford Talmadge and Louise Q. Harmon of Hillsville; two grandchildren, Shannon Renee Harmon Jones of Lexington, NC and Anthony Shane Harmon of Hillsville; one brother, Leamon Burl Lawson of Woodlawn; four sisters, Pansy Ames Griffin of Austinville; Zula Myrle Coleman of Hillsville; Maxie Aletta Vaughan of Ohio; and Ina Elaine Horton of Fancy Gap. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Sterlin Vance Lawson and one sister Vila May Edwards. Funeral service was held Friday, April 1, 2005 at the Coulson Church of the Brethren at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Harmon lied in state one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Russell Payne and Brother Ronnie Bowman officiated. Burial followed in the Monta Vista Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Laurel Rescue Squad, c/o 4553 Coulson Church Road, Hillsville, VA 24343. Vaughan - Guynn - McGrady Chapel in Hillsville was in charge of the arrangements.

Interment will be April 6, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Saddle Mountain Cemetery.
