Marion Lewis
DRY FORK - Marion Crawford Lewis, 71, 5204 Whitmell School Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 28, 1926, in Gladys, he was the son of James Samuel Lewis and Annie Crawford Lewis.
He was married
Sept. 7, 1951, to Ida Christine Ginwright Lewis.
Lewis worked in the family ice business in Gladys prior to moving to Danville in 1947. He was employed by Motor Parts & Equipment and in 1961 moved to Florida, working for Auto Machine and Parts Co. until 1965. He moved back to Danville and was employed by Norfolk-Southern Railroad until his retirement in 1965 due to declining health. He was a member of the Railroad Retiree Club.
He was also a member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence and mother of Danville, survivors include one son, Wade H. Lewis of Dry Fork; two daughters, Anita L. Craghead of Danville and Joyce L. Wheeler of Forest; one brother, Willis H. Lewis of Crossville, Tenn.; four sisters, Jewell Lewis of Danville, Beulah L. Moorman of Gladys, Merna L. Carter of Crossville, Tenn., and Sarah L. Buchanan of Birmingham, Ala.; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Freddie Vicks in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel, and during other times at the residence.
Veronica Bowen Miller
A graveside service for Julie Veronica Bowen Miller, 23, 1140 Cloverdale Trail, Sutherlin, will be conducted 11 a.m. today at the Miller Family cemetery at Cloverdale Quarters on U.S. 58 by the Rev. Robert Martin.
She died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 5, 1974, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Larry Dean Bowen and Barbara Burgess Ellis.
On Oct. 5, 1996, she was married
to Larry Miller Jr., who survives.
She attended Danville Community College and Virginia Western Community College. She was a lifeguard at the YWCA, and an aquatics instructor at the YMCA.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two half-brothers, Raymond Ware and Daniel Ellis; paternal grandmother, Mabel S. Bowen of Virgilina; and her maternal grandmother, Giselle Evans of Houston, Texas.
The family will receive friends at 1120 Cloverdale Trail, Cloverdale Quarters, U.S. 58.

Enid "Penny" Parker w/ad
Enid "Penny" K. Parker, 70, 141 Starmont Drive, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, at the residence of her daughter, Kathryn Dolianitis, 229 Vicar Place.
Born Oct. 9, 1926, in Winter Park, Fla., she was the daughter of Paul and Olga Krouse.
She lived most of her life in Winter Park, Fla., then moved to Danville in June 1995. She was a retired schoolteacher from Colonial High in Orlando, Fla., where she taught for 20 years.
She was a member of First Congregational Church of Winter Park, where she served on the Christian education committee, a Sunday school teacher, and circle member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
She later attended services regularly at First Presbyterian Church in Danville, where she was also a circle member.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn Parker Dolianitis of Danville; one son, William Parker of Gulph Mills, Pa.; one sister, Ruth Kotfila of Mars Hill, N.C.; one brother, George Krouse of Wellington, New Zealand; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Danville by Rev. Jack Heinsohn.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church in Winter Park by Dr. James Armstrong, the Rev. Jana Norman-Richardson and Dr. William Tuck. Burial will be in Palm cemetery in Winter Park.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter today and Saturday.

Dora Price
Dora Ann Price, 91, 605 Jefferson St., died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, at Stratford Health Care Center.
Born July 31, 1906, she was the daughter of Robert and Mary Price.
She was an employee of the former Dibrell Tobacco Co.
She was a member of Smith Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Edith Willard of the residence; one sister, Lillian Ross of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Jimmie Richardson at Smith Chapel Baptist Church. Internment will be in the church cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 4-8 p.m. today at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home. The family will be in the residence at 605 Jefferson St.
Robert Reynolds
Robert Edwin Reynolds, 85, 773 Barn Road, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 21, 1912, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of John Levi Reynolds and Emma Reynolds Reynolds.
He was married
to Nannie Kendrick Reynolds on Feb. 3, 1934.
He was a member of County Line Christian Church.
He was also a retired foreman for Lee-Centel Telephone Co. of Martinsville.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include three sons, Wesley H. Reynolds and Jackie E. Reynolds, both of Axton, and Robert Terry Reynolds of Callands; three sisters, Janice R. Doss and Joyce R. Mahan, both of Danville, and Betty R. McDaniel of Martinsville; one sister, Kathleen R. Maddox of Roanoke; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Danny G. Reynolds; three sisters, Elsie R. Gray, Dorothy R. Martin and Dora J. Reynolds; and six brothers, John Leslie Reynolds, W. Kermit Reynolds, Lynwood Reynolds, Fredrick W. Reynolds, Herman F. "Jack" Reynolds and Thomas E. Reynolds.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday at County Line Christian Church by Minister Dean Ashby, Minister J.D. Hunt III and Minister Craig Hagen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight, and other times at the residence.

Jane Rogers
GLEN BURNIE, Md. - Jane Dalton Rogers, 64, of Glen Burnie died on July 25, 1997, at her home after a brief illness.
Born April 16, 1933, in Martinsville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Sam Dalton and Beatrice McDaniel Dalton.
She worked as a quality control supervisor for Martin, Marietta and Gould for 13 years until she retired in 1994. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Shankle, and her second husband, James J. Rogers.
Survivors include a son, two daughters, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Jewel Thompson of Glen Burnie, and Peggy Schroeder of Baltimore; and one brother, Douglas Dalton of Danville, Va.
The funeral was held July 29, 1997, at Singletons Funeral Home in Glen Burnie. Burial was in Glen Haven Memorial Park.
Dallas Young
Dallas T. Young, 66, 33 Laurel Ave., died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center, after a decline in health of 16 years.
Born March 11, 1931, in the Museville community of Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Samuel Taylor Young and Rosa Bell Hammock Young.
He was married
to Mary Gossett Young, who died March 7, 1995.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He had spent most of his life in Danville, where he had retired from Dan River Inc.
He was also an active member of The Tabernacle.
Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Y. Sowers of Danville; one son, Roger L. Young of the residence; three brothers, William E. "Pete" Young of Pelham, N.C., and David Young and Ronnie L. Young, both of Danville; five sisters, Rebecca Hale of Pelham, N.C., Virginia Ruth Chilton of Danville, Margaret Lewis of Java, Barbara Fowler of Rockwell, N.C., and Kathey Abernathy of Lenoir, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Lamarr Mooneyham. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, and other times will be at the residence in Schoolfield.
William Alderson
William Calvin Alderson, 76, of 1403 Washington St., died Thursday, Aug. 7, 1997, at 11 p.m. in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 2, 1920, in Danville, he was the son of Ephriam Alderson and Nellie Wilson Alderson Lewis.
He was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church and VFW Ballard Pruitt Post 647. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and had been a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Danville for 28 years.
He was married
to Irma Blevins Alderson, who died March 11, 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna A. Gee of Blairs; two sons, Calvin K. Alderson of Danville and Barry B. Alderson of Richmond; three sisters, Annie Day of Danville, Irene Adkins of Blairs and Viola Day of North Carolina; a brother, Jim Lewis of Tennessee; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday from Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Larry Mulholland with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 325 Honor Guard.
The family will be at the residence of a son, Calvin Anderson, 120 Windsor Trail.

Garnett Hutcherson
A graveside service for Garnett Eldridge Hutcherson, 64, of 16 Oak Ridge Ave., will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Daniel Lackey.

He died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.
Born May 25, 1933, in Danville, he was the son of Hessie Burnett Hutcherson and George Edward Hutcherson.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He had lived in Danville during his early years then moved to Michigan for 20 years. He moved to North Carolina where he lived 14 years before returning to Danville in 1987.
He had graduated from Dan River High School in 1951 and worked as a manufacturing engineer until retirement.
He was married
to Mattie "Lou" Wyatt Hutcherson on Aug. 4, 1953.
In addition to his wife of the residence and mother of Danville, survivors include one son, Marcus H. Hutcherson of Danville; and five grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son, James E. Hutcherson.
The family will be at the residence.
