Velmar M. Henley, 86, of Hillsville, died June 23, 2001, in Pulaski Community Hospital. She is survived by a sister, Bartie Angle of Hillsville. Funeral was June 26 at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Pastor Charles Triplett and Pastor Jack Burkes officiating. Burial was in the Farris Mines Cemetery.
PAUL C. HOUSE
Paul Compton House, 72, of 510 Country Club Drive, Pearisburg, died Monday, June 18, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Wood House and Melba Compton House, two brothers, Robert Wood House, Jr. and William Albert House. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Deakins House of Pearisburg; daughter and son-in-law, Judith House Neal and husband Roger Glen Neal of Galax, VA; three granddaughters, Ashley Elizabeth Neal, Jennifer Leigh Neal and Jillian Brooke Neal all of Galax, VA; one sister, Mary Wood House Smoot of Kingsport, TN. He graduated from the Unviersity of Tennessee College of Law, served in the United States Army as a Russian language interpreter and was employed by E.I. duPont de Nemours Corp. of Wilmington, DE. Upon his retirement he moved to Pearisburg where he was a member of the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church. A memorial service was conducted Saturday, June 23, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Lockerby, Dr. Fred Austin and t Rev. Teresa Buckner officiating. Memorials may be made to the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church, 1101 Valleyview Drive, Pearisburg, VA 24134.

Junia Sutphin Tipton, 88, of Dugspur, VA, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2001, in Northern Hospital of Surry County, Mt. Airy, NC. She is survived by children and spouses, Nina and Herbert Blankenship of Roanoke, Wanda and James King of Pulaski, Deborah Marshall of Hillsville, Douglas Tipton of Dugspur, Bayne and Marlene Tipton of Cana; sisters, Zelpha Henley of Roanoke, Elda Nester of Radford, Ilean Henley of Salem; seven grandchildren, Teresa Walker, Melissa Blankenship, Patricia Harris, Sherry McMillian, Darrell Tipton, Michelle Hash and LaTawnya Burleson; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Blankenship, Dakota Key, Taylor Burleson, Kean Key, Logan Harris and Jesse Burleson. Funeral service will be Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Elder Joe H. McGrady officiating. Burial will be in the Sutphin Cemetery. Joseph Robert Davis, 65, of Galax, died Aug. 24, 2001 in Hunter Holmes McGuire Virginia Medical Center, Richmond. He is survived by his wife, Elsie R. Davis; brothers, James F. Davis of Fries, Olin D. Davis of Roanoke, Raymond E. Davis of Fries. Funeral was Aug. 26 at Vaughan-Guynn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Camet Spivey and the Rev. Bill Linkous. Burial was in Monta Vista Cemetery.

Garlen Allen Hall, 93, of Galax, died Aug. 25, 2001. He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Dixie Hall of California, Garlen Lincoln and Ressie Hall of Galax; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral will be Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Don Fox and the Rev. Camet Spivey. Burial will be in Monta Vista Cemetery.

Mrs. Opal C. Branscomb Hall, 81, of Winston-Salem, NC, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born June 10, 1920, in Carroll County, VA to Sandy and Martha McCraw Combs. Mrs. Hall was employed with L. Roberts, Robbins and was a member of Oak Summit United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed life and serving other people. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Albert Hall and her parents. Surviving are one son, Lionel Branscomb and wife Ramona of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Arlene Lowe of Hillsville, VA; three grandchildren, Patience Hering and husband John of Dallas, TX, Laura Cody and husband Matthew of Winston-Salem, NC, Lionel (Lee) Branscomb and wife Angela of Seattle, WA; seven great-grandchildren, Priscilla Barnes, Jacob Hering of Dallas, TX, Andrew, Caroline, Emily, Natalie Cody of Winston-Salem, NC and Hannah Branscomb of Seattle, Wa; and one very special niece, Vicki Richardson of Winston-Salem, NC. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m Aug. 27 at Oak Summit United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patrick Hamrick officiating. Burial was in Crestview Memorial Park. Linda Nester Flippin, 55, of Fancy Gap, VA, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2001, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Flippin was preceded in death by her parents, Orlie Clayton and Belva Mae Vass Nester and a sister, Mary Coulson. Mr. Bradley Dean Quesinberry, age 45, of 1486 Round Peak Church Rd., Mt. Airy, NC, husband of Mrs. Donna Kline Quesinberry, died at his home Monday, Aug. 20, 2001. Mr. Quesinberry was born Oct. 5, 1955 in Galax, VA to Verlie Louise Shelton Willard and the late Murphy Eugene Quesinberry. He was owner and operator of the M and B Trucking Company and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Donna K. Quesinberry of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Cristy Quesinberry of Cana, VA; two grandchildren, Shailyn Quesinberry and Dylan Quesinberry, both of Cana, VA; two step daughters, Kala Kline and Marla Crouise both of Galax, VA; his mother, Mrs. Verlie Willard of Mt. Airy, NC; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Freeda Tobler, Mt. Airy, NC, Joyce and Larry Davis, Hillsville, VA, Rhonda and Wade Leonard, Cana, VA and a brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Robin Quesinberry, Mt.
