Lottie Osborne
Lottie Catherine Osborne, 74, 256 Wilkenson Road, died Friday, June 20, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 17, 1922, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of William H. Thomas and Jealier Bennett Thomas.
She was married
to Elisha Osborne.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she served on the deaconess board and as a member of the senior choir and the missionary society.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Dan River Inc.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Osborne and Angela Reese, both of Danville; two sisters, Dorothy Gunn and Esther White, both of Danville; a brother, Linwood Thomas of Hempstead, N.Y.; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday from Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas Johnson. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The remains may be viewed until 8 tonight at L.H. Brooks & Bro. Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Robert Forehand
PORTSMOUTH - Dr. Robert Vernon Forehand, 63, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, in his residence.
He was married
to Eunice S. Forehand, who survives.
He was the pastor of Park View Baptist Church from 1991 until his death. He was the former pastor of First Baptist Church of Danville and Webber Memorial Baptist Church of Richmond. He was a member of the Churchland Rotary Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Jody C. Forehand of San Bruno, Calif., and Jennifer F. Kittrell of Portsmouth; his mother, Helen Faulk of St. Augustine, Fla.; his stepmother, Tennie Forehand of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Patricia F. Willis of Tallahassee, Fla.; and a brother, Drew Taylor of Homestead, Fla.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday from Churchland Baptist Church cemetery by Dr. R. Clint Hopkins and Dr. Edward B. Freeman. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Park View Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at Loving Funeral Home.
Frank Law
DRY FORK - Frank Law, 85, 1188 Mount Cross Road, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
A native of Pittsylvania County, he was born Oct. 21, 1911.
He was married
to Sallie Law, who predeceased him.
He was a farmer and a member of Union Hall Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Frankie Law of Danville; four daughters, Ruth Thompson of Chatham, Betty Echols of Danville, and Aster Law and Diane Powell, both of Dry Fork; two brothers, Walter Law of Dry Fork and Percy Law of Philadelphia; and three sisters, Louise Jones of Yanceyville, N.C., and Rebecca King and Sallie Taylor, both of Dry Fork.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from Union Hall Baptist Church by Pastor Sherman Craft. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body may be viewed 4-8 p.m. Monday at Cunningham and Hughes Funeral Home. The family will be at the residence.
Ocie Lawrence
MARTINSVILLE - Ocie Robertson Lawrence, 85, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at Martinsville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Oct. 1, 1911, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of William H. Robertson and Annie Wuergler Robertson.
She was married
for 60 years to Henry Virgil Lawrence, who predeceased her.
She was a charter member of Clearview Baptist Church.
Prior to her retirement, she worked for 40 years at Bassett-Walker.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelby Austin of Ridgeway and Colene Fackler of Collinsville; a sister, Edna Bollings of Rocky Mount; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from Norris Funeral Services Chapel by the Rev. Francis Martin. Interment
will be in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and at other times at the residences of Shelby Austin, 150 Carolina Place, Ridgeway, and Colene Fackler, 61 Branch Road, Collinsville.
Curtis Moore
Curtis Thomas Moore, 70, 421 Parker Road, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, in his residence, following several years of declining health.
Born July 11, 1926, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of George Thomas Moore and Mary Belcher Moore.
On March 12, 1949, he was married
to Helen Moore Moore.
He spent his life in the Danville area, where he worked as a refrigerator mechanic for Danville Dairy prior to his retirement.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Thomas Wayne Moore of Dry Fork and Gary Moore of Chatham; a daughter, Karen M. Thompson of Danville; a brother, Earl Moore of Ringgold; three sisters, Julia M. Hazelwood of Ringgold, Pauline M. Elliott of Sandston and Georgia M. Loveland of Lakewood, Colo.; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Mike Hearp and the Rev. John H. Meadows. Interment
will be in the Highland Burial Park.

Ralph Slaughter
Ralph H. Slaughter, 84, 1149 Ringgold Church Road, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center, following six months of declining health.
Born Nov. 8, 1912, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Roland H. Slaughter and Sally Fannie Barker Slaughter.
On Nov. 23, 1935, he married
Ethel Hardy Slaughter, who survives.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for Dibrell Brothers Tobacco Co.
He was also a farmer.
He was a member of Kentuck Baptist Church for more than 70 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Judy S. Stuckert of Ringgold and Ellen S. Nester of Blairs; two sisters, Ruth S. Payne of Danville and Carolyn S. Cardwell of Ringgold; two grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, John Slaughter and Ed Slaughter.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from Barker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. David Henry. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.

Calvin Barts
Calvin Emerson Barts, 66, of 132 Winthrop Court, died Sunday, June 22, 1997, at his home. He had been in declining health for about four years.
Born Feb. 8, 1931, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Robert Gunn Barts and Mattie Meadows Barts.
He spent most of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County area, where he was a cabinet maker for Southside Manufacturing Co. prior to retirement.
He was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Dry Fork, and was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army.
On March 1, 1958, he was married
to Carolyn W. Barts, who survives.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one son, Robert Michael Barts of Christiansburg; three brothers, Preston Barts and Wyatt Barts both of Danville, and Clyde Barts of Las Vegas; three sisters, Doris Alford of Las Vegas, Jeannette Flinchum of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Margaret Lilly of Greensboro, N.C.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Curtis Barts, and a sister, Martha Ann Barts.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Dry Fork, by the Rev. Roger Collins. Burial will be in the church cemetery. American Legion Post 325 will conduct military rites at the graveside.
The family will receive friends 7:30 to 8:30 tonight at the church, and other times will be at the residence.

Susie Farmer
Susie Alice Farmer, 99, formerly of 444 Woodlawn Drive, died Saturday night, June 21, 1997, at Riverside Health Care Center, where she had lived since January 1994.
Born Feb. 9, 1898, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of Mark Anthony Farmer and Betty Hunt Farmer.
She was a member of Ascension Luthern Church, where she was the oldest member.
She also was the oldest member of Memorial Hospital Alumni.
In 1923, she graduated from what was known as Danville General Hospital on Jefferson Street. She retired from Danville Memorial Hospital in July 1966, where she was the night supervisor.
Survivors include a sister, Faye Farmer Gray Leigh and a brother, Aubrey Gunn Farmer, both of Danville.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.
The graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Caldwell Day.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 tonight at Townes Funeral Home.
