Michael Wilson
NORFOLK - Michael George Wilson, 37, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, in Sertanna Hospital.
A native of Danville, he was born on Feb. 20, 1960.
He was employed as a cook and a car salesman.
He was a member of First Deliverance Christian Church in Virginia Beach.
Survivors include six brothers, Milton Wilson, Bruce Wilson, Aubrey Wilson Jr. and Reginald McLaughlin, all of Danville, Jeffrey Wilson of Richmond and John Slade of Burlington, N.C.; and three sisters, Audrey Stokes and Sharon Stokes, both of Danville, and Deborah Richardson of Baltimore.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday from Cunningham & Hughes Memorial Chapel in Danville by the Rev. J.P. Griffith Jr. Burial will be in Pleasant Chapel Baptist Church cemetery in Sutherlin.
The body may be viewed 4-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at 628 West Gay St., Danville.
Marie Coleman
Marie Delores Coleman, 57, 195 Rosewood Lane, died Monday, May 26, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 11, 1939, in Rochester, N.Y., she was a daughter of Joseph Miller and Isabelle Conley Miller, who survive.
She was married
to Roy F. Coleman, who survives.
She was employed as a machine operator for Eastman Kodak.
In addition to her parents of Albion, N.Y., and her husband of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Mary E. Camp of Virginia Beach and JoAnne Herndon of Norfolk; a son, Thomas Godfrey of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother, Thomas Miller of Albion; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in the mausoleum of Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Robert Eggleston
Robert L. Eggleston, age 84, of 718 Westview Drive, went to heaven to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 27, 1997, after a three-month decline in health.
Born Oct. 30, 1912, in Keysville, he was the son of David J. Eggleston and Myrtle Dixon Eggleston.
He was married
to Vivian C. Eggleston of the home, who survives.
He was retired from Dupont in Richmond with 39 years of service and worked part time at Ukrops in Richmond for 18 years until age 79. He had lived in Danville for five years.
He was a member of North Main Baptist Church. While in Richmond, he had been a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include his stepson, James H. Dunaway and wife, Delores Dunaway; two grandsons, Jeffrey Dunaway and wife, Nellie Dunaway, and Robert Dunaway and wife, Leslie Dunaway, of Greensboro, N.C.; one granddaughter, Sabrina Dunaway of Danville; one great-granddaughter, Brandi Doss, and one great-grandson, Michael James Dunaway, both of Danville. Two brothers, five sisters, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by a grandson, James H. Dunaway Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 a.m. from Swicegood Chapel by Dr. Eddie Davis and the Rev. Kyle Flora.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence.
A graveside service will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Maury cemetery in Richmond.
The family will receive friends at the Bliley Chippenham Funeral Home 7-8:30 Thursday night.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Home Mission Fund at the North Main Baptist Church.
Alma Brooks
FARNHAM - Alma Pruitt Brooks, 82, 3222 Canal Road, died Monday, May 26, 1997, in her residence, following several months of declining health.
Born Feb. 28, 1915, in Danville, she was a daughter of Talton Pruitt and Jannie Powell Pruitt.
On July 16, 1932, she was married
to Ollie Mitchell Brooks, who died Feb. 22, 1996.
She spent most of her life in Danville, where she worked at Dan River Inc. as a weaver for many years.
She was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Helen B. Price of Warsaw; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Clarence M. Brooks, and her brother, Lonnie Lee Pruitt.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday from Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Pruitt. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of Douglas Echols, 160 Westover Lane, off Westover Drive.
Antonio Dixon
Antonio Demarcus Dixon, 20, 2263 Robinhood Drive, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, in Danville.
Born Dec. 21, 1976, in Danville, he was a son of Timothy Dixon and Jackie O. Dixon, who survive.
In addition to his father of Danville and his mother of Maryland, survivors include his stepmother, Shirley Dixon of Danville; a brother, Timothy Wilson of Blairs; two sisters, Latanya Dixon of Danville and Toni Wilson of Reidsville, N.C.; and his grandmothers, Anna Dixon of Danville and Mattie Stone of Chatham.
A graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. today in Highland Burial Park by Dr. H.G. McGhee.
The body may be viewed 11-12:30 p.m. today at Cunningham & Hughes Funeral Home.

(Man shot to death in Cardinal Village
A shooting in south Danville left one man dead Sunday night.
Antonio DeMarcus Dixon, 20, died of "several gunshot wounds" that shattered the holiday weekend quiet in Cardinal Village just before 8 p.m. Sunday
Dixon was shot and killed in the kitchen at 221 Stephens St., Apt. 1, after a fight broke out among several people there.
"There were other people (in the apartment) at the time of the shooting, " Police Capt. C.I. Slayton said. "We are trying to talk to those people."
A witness to the shooting said there were four small children in the apartment at the time of the shooting. None of the bystanders was injured.
As for a motive for the killing Slayton said, "I have no idea whatsoever."
Also incomplete was the description of the shooting suspect - a black male with dreadlocks - and a vehicle that may be tied to the shooting - a white Ford pickup truck.
An investigation into the slaying is underway, and the victim's body will be sent to Roanoke for an autopsy.)
Elbert Eanes Sr.
NATHALIE - Elbert Lee Eanes Sr., 83, 1237 Old Concord Road, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, in his residence.
Born May 29, 1913, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Fitzhugh Lee Eanes and Sally Betterton Eanes.
For 63 years, he was married
to Annie Brooks Eanes, who survives.
He was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons and as a Sunday school teacher.
He was a retired farmer who was a member of Woodmen of the World. He was also a charter member and oldest member of North Halifax Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two sons, James Eanes Sr. and Elbert L. Eanes Jr., both of Nathalie; five daughters, Beulah E. Barbour and Cora E. Reeves, both of Nathalie, Christine E. Mitchell and Janie E. Gibson, both of Chatham, and Lucy E. Williams of Ringgold; two sisters, Rebecca E. Betterton of Rocky Mount and Malissa E. Roberts of Burlington, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, George N. Eanes and Wilson Eanes; and three sisters, Alice Talbert, Bessie Eanes and Sarah Gerringer.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Mulberry Baptist Church by the Rev. A.A. Blanks. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home in Gretna, and other times at the residence.
Davis "Red" Kenion
Davis "Red" Kenion, 71, 342 Withers Circle, died Monday, May 26, 1997, in his residence.
Born July 25, 1925, in Bahama, N.C., he was a son of Odie Kenion and Nora Daye Kenion.
He was married
to Mary Terry Kenion, who survives.
He came to Danville to serve as catcher for the Danville All-Stars baseball team.
He was retired from apac-Virginia Inc. and was a member of Prospect Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include four daughters, Martha T. Tanner and Stephanie T. Martin, both of Danville, Jeffner T. Deshazor of Highland Springs and Robin T. Gayles of Concord, N.C.; two sons, James Terry of Danville and Gary Terry of Highland Springs; two brothers, John Kenion of Ardmore, Pa., and Milo Kenion of Dowington, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Prospect Baptist Church by the Rev. Demetrius Crews. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The remains may be viewed 2-8 tonight at L.H. Brooks & Bro. Funeral Home.

Madeline McElroy
Madeline Martin McElroy, 89, 625 Park Ave., died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, in her residence, following a year of declining health.
Born April 5, 1908, in Freeze, she was a daughter of William Spangler and Rosa Etta Ireson Spangler.
She was married
to George Robert Martin Sr., who died Aug. 11, 1985. On Oct. 30, 1987, she was married
to the Rev. Alvin T. McElroy, who survives.
She spent most of her life in the Stokesland community of Danville. She was a homemaker and worked at Dan River Inc. for many years.
She was a member of Schoolfield United Methodist Church and a former member of Stokesland United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include two stepdaughters, Virginia Lee Strader of Santa-Ana, Calif., and Margaret Younger of Norman, Okla.; a stepson, Alvin McElroy of Palm Desert, Calif.; a sister, Beatrice Walker of Pelham, N.C.; a half-sister, Billy Jean Hebb of Fairview, N.C.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, George R. Martin Jr.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. M. Dana Hunt and the Rev. Calvin B. Johnson. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
