Charlie B. Motley
Charlie B. Motley, 85, 146 Montague St., died Saturday, May 31, 1997, in Stratford Health Care Center.
Born April 29, 1912, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Maurice W. Motley and Lavenia Jane Sublett Motley.
He lived in Ontario, Canada, and in Danville, where he was an associate at Dan River Inc.
He was first married
to Eunice Virginia Hasselvander, who died Oct. 1, 1952.
He later married
Marjorie Coburn of Narrows. She died Nov. 26, 1984.
He was married
to Ovaline Smith Motley, who survives, on April 21, 1989.
He was the author of several books and many articles for various religious publications. He was an active member of First Christian Church. He was a member of the Huguenot Society of the founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia. He also served as president of the Suzzane Rochet Chapter and as president of the Virginia State Branch, Huguenot Society.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one daughter, Gail M. Davis of Danville; one son, Charles B. Motley of Orlanda, Fla., two stepchildren, Cheryl M. Hill of Halifax, and John Samuel Motley of Baskerville; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
The family will receive friends at 224 Mount Vernon Ave.

Orville Sauser
Orville E. Sauser, 68, 106 Forestroad Drive, died Friday night, May 30, 1997, at his residence.
Born Sept. 5, 1928, in Cascade, Iowa, he was the son of Arthur Sauser and Mollie Timpe Sauser.
He was married
to Virginia D. Sauser, who survives.
He was a retired data processing manager at Dan River Mills. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include one son, James Sauser of Danville; two daughters, Linda Sauser of Greenville, S.C., Nancy and husband William Englisbe of Greenville, S.C.; four sisters, Jane Gift and Mollie Peiffer, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gloria Rodgers of Durango, Colo., Arless McKenzie of San Antonio, Texas; and one grandson, Jason Englisbe of Greenville, S.C.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Father David V. McGuire. Interment
will be in Greenville, S.C., at a later date.
The family will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart School building fund, 540 Central Blvd., Danville, Va., 24541.

Dorothy F. Shorter
CHATHAM - Dorothy Farmer Shorter, 71, 2909 Callands Road, died Friday, May 30, 1997, in Danville.
Born Dec. 19, 1925, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Grover Cleveland Farmer and Maude Yeatts Farmer.
She was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church.
She owned and operated Oliver's Grocery in Chatham.
She was married
to J.B. Shorter Jr., who survives.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Dr. Lisa S. Burkett and Cindy S. Clay, both of Chatham; one brother, Kermit Farmer of Danville; one sister, Joyce F. Wilkerson of Chatham; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. today at Chatham Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Walker Pettyjohn. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Burial Park in Chatham.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Faith Joy Wuntke
Faith Joy Wuntke, 67, 112 Winfield Place, died Friday, May 30, 1997, in her residence after a long illness.
She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
She was married
to the Rev. Henry J. Wuntke.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Deborah Rigsby of Richmond, Laura Adams of Mechanicsville, Md., and Patricia Spencer of Ferrum; two sons, Mark Wuntke of Goldsboro, N.C., and David Wuntke of Virginia Beach; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Interment will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Maple Grove United Methodist Church cemetery in Ferrum.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. tonight at Flora's Funeral Home in Rocky Mount.
Coralia Argyrakis
Coralia Argyrakis, 94, died Sunday, June 1, 1997, in Roman Eagle Memorial Home after several years of declining health.
Born Dec. 26, 1902, in Chois, Greece, she was the daughter of Theodore Georgefendi and Ourania Manolikis Georgefendi.
She was married
to Nicholas Argyrakis, who died in 1963.
She spent most of her life in White Sulphur Springs, W.V., as a homemaker.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Roanoke.
Survivors include a son, Theodore Argyrakis of Dry Fork; a sister, Evridiki Vayanos of Athens, Greece; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, White Sulphur Springs, W.V.
The family will receive friends at the home of her son, at 7713 Franklin Turnpike.

James A. Fackler
James A. Fackler, 76, of 1760 Richmond Blvd., died Sunday, June 1, 1997, at Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born May 16, 1921, in Brunswick County, he was a mechanic for Adams Juice Co., and a member of Main Street Methodist Church in Emporia.
Survivors include a son, Danny B. Fackler of Danville and a sister, Evelynn Woodruff of Emporia; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday in Greensville Memorial cemetery, Emporia.
The family will recieve friends at the residence.

Junius Ferrell
Junius Ferrell, 63, of 156 Kennon Dr., died Thursday, May 29, 1997, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 5, 1934, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Jim Tom Ferrell and Beatrice Glass Ferrell.
He had served on the Danville School Board, and was a member of Loyal Baptist Church, where he sang in the Gospel Chorus. He was also a member of Gavin Missionary Circle.
His wife, Nancy Fitzgerald Ferell, survives.
In addition to his wife of Danville, survivors include one son, Harvey Ferrell of Danville; five daughters, Earline Ferrell, Michael Saunders, Stacy Ferrell and Shawn Ferrell all of Danville, and Brenda F. Roberts of Portsmith, N.H.; a brother, Harvey L. Ferrell of Danville; and his step-mother, Nettie Ferrell of Danville; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. today at Loyal Baptist Church by the Rev. Lovelle Maxwell Jr. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The remains may be viewed until 8 p.m. at L.H. Brooks & Bro. Funeral Home.

Richard M. Floyd Sr.
LAKE WALES, FLA. - Richard M. Floyd Sr., 101, of 512 11th St. South, died Saturday, May 31, 1997, in The Grove Center Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for three years.
He had lived at Nalcrest in Lake Wales since 1964.
Born Dec. 20, 1895, he was the son of Robert Samuel Floyd and Lucy Rebecca Shell Floyd.
He was a member of Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church for more than 80 years, and had served as secretary of the Sunday school and on the Administrative Board until he moved to Roanoke, Va. He later retired to Lake Wales.
While a resident of Danville, Va., he was in the grocery business and later worked for Wilson & Company until 1943. He was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the meat grading service from 1944 until his retirement in 1964.
His first wife, Lucille Edwards Floyd, died Oct. 29, 1954. In 1955, he was married
to Johnsie Edwards Wynn, who died July 29, 1985.
During World War I, he served in the U.S. Army Coast Artillery Corps with a contingent of men from Danville.
Survivors include two sons, Richard M. Floyd Jr. and Robert K. Floyd, both of Danville; one step-daughter, Johnsie Wynn Banks of Las Vegas; a sister, Ola Floyd Duke of Murfreesboro, N.C.; a brother, George Floyd of Emporia, Va.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
At a later date, a memorial service will be held in Highland Burial Park, Danville, Va.

Raymond Hill
Raymond Astor Hill, 73, of 676 New Walters Mill Road, died Saturday night, May 31, 1997, at his home.
Born May 2, 1924, in Danville, he was the son of Dewey Hill and Crissie Henry Hill.
He spent most of his life in Providence, N.C.
He had worked in the card room as a roving tender at Dan River Inc., and served in the U.S. Army Corps during World War II. He was also a National Guard veteran.
He was a member of Shady Oak Baptist Church.
He was married
to Peggy Gregory Hill, who survives.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a daughter, Lisa Peele of Danville; two sons, Michael Hill of Danville and Louis Hill of Milford, De.; a sister, Jacqueline Hines of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Cecil Hill of Burlington, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Barker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Avery Marshall. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens with military rites performed by American Legion Post 325.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barker Funeral Home, and other times will be at the home of his son, Michael Hill, 214 Forest Road Drive.
