Leo Teague
Leo Van Teague, 76, formerly of 38 Shumate St., died Monday, March 24, 1997, in Stratford Health Care Center.
Born June 9, 1920, in Bland County, W.Va., he was a son of Walter C. Teague and Cillar Dema Harrold Teague.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He had lived in Danville since 1931, where he worked in construction as a self-employed carpenter before retiring in 1986.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Teague Revis of Ringgold; two sisters, Nancy Hutson and Mary Ann Mann, both of Danville; a brother, Nando Teague of Danville; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mountain View cemetery by the Rev. R.J. Barber Jr. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Memorial Post No. 325 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at Swicegood Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of his daughter, on State Route 726 in Ringgold.
Maria Williams
Maria Williams, 37, 1313 Myrtle Ave., died Sunday, March 23, 1997, in Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Born May 15, 1959, in Florida City, Fla., she was a daughter of Dale Walker and Patrice Hedden Walker, who survive.
She was employed by Western Sizzlin in Nor-Dan Shopping Center.
In addition to her parents of Newberry, Fla., survivors include three sons, Freddie Williams, Jason Williams and Kevin Williams, all of Danville;and two daughters, Athena Williams and Gretchen Duvall, both of Danville.
A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday from Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home Chapel.
Martha Woodson
Martha Nadine Clark Woodson, 60, 164 Avalon Drive, died Monday, March 24, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center, following several years of declining health.
Born Sept. 23, 1936, in Rockingham County, N.C., she was a daughter of Grady Clark and Bessie Gauldin Clark.
On Nov. 23, 1957, she was married
to Charlie Bernard Woodson, who survives.
She spent most of her life in Danville, where she was employed as a registered nurse for Danville Regional Medical Center for many years.
She was a member of Afton Road Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include two sons, Dale Woodson and Danny Woodson, both of Danville; two brothers, William Larry Clark of Ridgeway and Lonnie Gray Clark of Eden, N.C.; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by Elder Danny Parker, the Rev. Wayne Crews and the Rev. Jimmie Pruitt. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence of a son, Dale Woodson, 592 Poplar Trace, Danville.
William Hargrove
GRETNA - William Harrison Hargrove, 85, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, in Gretna Health Care Center.
Born Dec. 9, 1911, in Danville, he was a son of Lawrence Hargrove and Della Parker Hargrove.
He was married
to Velma Rowland Hargrove, who predeceased him.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mechanic by Frazier Construction Co.
During World War II, he served in the Army.
He is survived by two sons, James Hargrove of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Paul Hargrove of Gretna; two sisters, Gracie Taylor of Danville and Alma Owen of Baltimore; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in Altavista Memorial Park by the Rev. W.D. Lilly.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home in Gretna, and other times at the residence of a son, Paul Hargrove, 1936 Blue Ridge Drive, Gretna.
James 'Sonny' Hancock
James N. "Sonny" Hancock, 72, 144 Harris Place, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, in his residence, following several years of declining health.
Born June 21, 1924, in Patrick County, he was a son of Zachariah T. Hancock and Beulah Shively Hancock.
He was married
to Thelma Evans Hancock, who died Dec. 17, 1989.
He had lived in Danville since 1936, where he was a graduate of Schoolfield High School and attended Danville Technical Institute.
During World War II, he served in the Navy.
During his early life, he worked as a truck driver and was later employed as an electrician for Dan River Inc.
He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret H. Elliott of Danville and Claudia H. Minter of Fishersville; a son, James E. Hancock of Louisburg, N.C.; four sisters, Vera Cox of Martinsville, Myrtle Graham, Jewell Merchant and Claudia Hancock, all of Danville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Verlie Atkinson, and a brother, Jesse Hancock.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Daryl S. Joyce and the Rev. W. Cleo Hunley. Burial will be in Schoolfield cemetery, where graveside military honors will be performed by American Legion Memorial Post No. 325 Honor Guard.

Kathryn Prunty
Kathryn Viola Prunty, 89, 145 Sherwood Drive, died Sunday, March 23, 1997, in Stratford Health Care Center.
Born March 22, 1908, in Pittsburgh, Kansas, she was a daughter of James and Amanda Williams McClain.
She was married
to John Prunty, who predeceased her.
She was a self-employed beautician and was a member of Loudon Avenue Christian Church in Roanoke.
She is survived by a god-daughter, Catherine M. Coleman of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 6 p.m. today from Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Danville by the Rev. Letcher Coleman. Graveside rites and burial will be conducted at Lincoln Memorial Park in Chicago.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her god-daughter, 145 Sherwood Drive, Danville.

Rodger Shelton
Rodger Hilton Shelton, 80, 121 Sweetbriar Drive, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, in his residence, following six months of declining health.
Born Dec. 13, 1916, in Ingram, he was a son of Raleigh Martin Shelton and Ida Bennett Shelton.
On Jan. 25, 1963, he was married
to Lola Kennedy Weatherford Shelton, who died Feb. 26, 1996.
He spent most of his life in Chatham and Danville. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by North American Insurance Co. He was also of the Baptist faith.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He is survived by two sons, David Nelson Weatherford of Kernersville, N.C., and Kenneth Wayne Weatherford of Pfafftown, N.C.; a brother, Edward Douglas Shelton of Martinsville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Carl Burger. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.

John Wimbush
John Wallace Wimbush, 57, 5764 Old Richmond Road, died Sunday, March 23, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born May 6, 1939, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of William S. Wimbush and Nancy Johnson.
He was employed by Dan River Inc. He was also a member of Gospel Light Holiness Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Silas Wimbush of Gladys, William Wimbush of Detroit and Paul Wimbush of Philadelphia; and 11 sisters, Ollie Lipford, Mable Wimbush, Addie Price and Ethel Loney, all of Danville, Cora Wimbush of Lexington, N.C., Vandell Wimbush, Sue Frances Wimbush and Annie Lois Carter, all of Detroit, Pansy Wimbush, Oddessia Allen and Viola Graves, all of Philadelphia.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday from Cunningham & Hughes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. J.P. Griffith. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The body may be viewed 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sarah Bolton
CHATHAM - Sarah Bella Groff Bolton, 91, 1409 Motley Road, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, in Piney Forest Nursing Home of Danville.
Born Jan. 10, 1906, in Glen Gardner, N.J., she was a daughter of Newman Groff and Bella Skinner Groff.
She was married
to Harry Esser Bolton, who predeceased her.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress. She was also of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty B. Motley and Doris B. Walker, both of Chatham; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be conducted.
