Grace Hughes
Grace Thaxton Hughes, 95, 411 Kemper Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 7, 1901, in Christie, she was a daughter of Robert L. Thaxton and Rosa Tooms Hughes.
She was married
to W. Harvey Hughes, who died in May 1938.
She spent her entire life in the Danville area, where she owned and operated Floyd Street Grocery for 20 years before her retirement. She was of the Jehovah's Witness faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Alice A. Hughes of Danville, and one grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Jack W. Hughes, five sisters and two brothers.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by Elder Jim White and Elder Garland Walker. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
Saul Hunt
RINGGOLD - Saul Hunt, 58, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 22, 1938, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Mozelle Hunt.
He was married
to Rachel Valentine Hunt, who predeceased him.
Survivors include two daughters, Loressa Johnson of Virginia and Nadine Johnson of North Carolina; two brothers, Royal Hunt and Elijah Hunt, both of Ringgold; and one grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday from Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home Chapel. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence of a brother, Royal Hunt, off the Milton Road in Ringgold.
"Ollie" Oliver
"Ollie" Texie Allen Oliver, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 1, 1949, in South Boston, he was a son of Joseph M. Oliver and Etrulia Richardson Oliver.
He was educated in the Halifax County School System. He also served in the U.S. Army. He received his degree in business administration and personnel management for the University of Maryland European Divison.
He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Dorothy Oliver of Danville, Ruby Younger of Newark, N.J., and Ruthann Oliver of Charleston, S.C.; and two brothers, Johnny Richardson of Halifax and Willard Oliver of Windsor, N.C.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday from Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jeffrey Wright. Burial will be in Cross Roads Baptist Church cemetery in Turbeville.
The family will receive friends at the residence of a sister, Dorothy Oliver, 385 Old Quarry Road, Danville.
Nettie Hudson
ALTON - Nettie Foster Hudson, 88, 2237 Coleman Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born May 1, 1908, in Caswell County, N.C., she was a daughter of Thomas Tilton Foster and Lillie Frances Smith Foster.
She was married
to Joseph Clifton Hudson, who predeceased her.
She was born and raised in Yanceyville, N.C., where she was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, J.C. Hudson Jr. and Warner Lee Hudson, both of Danville, Donald Foster Hudson and Perry Wayne Hudson, both of Alton; a sister, Mattie Hooper of Yanceyville, N.C.; two brothers, Earl Foster of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Woodrow Foster of Yanceyville, N.C.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday from Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Stanley Hare and the Rev. Leonard Watlington. Burial will be in Lebanon Christian Church cemetery in Semora, N.C.

Terry Hunt
CASCADE - Terry Ronald Hunt, 43, 896 Huntington Trail, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, in Morehead Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of James and Theodora "Ted" Hunt, who survive.
He was a member of Willis Memorial Church. He was employed as a lab technician for Fieldcrest Mills.
In addition to his parents of the residence, survivors include a daughter, Tara Hunt Rakes of Eden, N.C.; four sisters, Peggy Wade of Cascade, Gaye Hunt of Eden, N.C., Temple Adams of Concord, N.C., and Patricia Meeks of Livonia, Mich.; and two brothers, Jerry Hunt of Cascade and James Hunt Jr. of Roanoke.
The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Friday from Fair Funeral Home Chapel in Eden, N.C. Burial will be in the Hunt Family cemetery.

Steven Moore
CHATHAM - Steven Comer Moore, 49, 8129 Callands Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, in his residence.
Born Feb. 15, 1947, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Addison Comer Moore and Anna Rodgers Moore, who survive.
He was married
to Diane Hudgins Moore, who survives.
He was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church. He was employed as a track supervisor for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He also served in the Vietnam Conflict.
In addition to his wife and his parents of Chatham, survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline P. Moore and Melissa F. Moore, both of Manassas; a son, Steven C. Moore Jr. of Chicago; two brothers, David R. Moore of Elon College, N.C., and Donald L. Moore of Chatham; and a sister, Patsy M. Poteat of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday from Hollywood Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Haywood Alcorn and the Rev. Julian P. Griffin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at Hollywood Baptist Church, and other times at the residence of his parents, 421 Strawberry Road, Chatham.
Lula Neal
CHESAPEAKE - Lula Bennett Neal, 90, 3504 Executive Center Drive, Apt. 211, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in Maryview Nursing Care Center.
Born Nov. 11, 1906, in Bedford, she was a daughter of Thomas B. Neal and Emma Wilkes Neal.
She was married
to Less Neal Jr., who predeceased her.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley G. Evans of Portsmouth; three sons, Earl C. Neal of Chesapeake, Larry W. Neal of Youngstown, Ohio, and Eldridge T. Jones of Chicago; a sister, Shelby Trent of Whitemarsh, Md.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday from Barker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Neal McCarter. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.

Grace Pearman
The funeral for Grace Bartlett Pearman, 88, Elizabeth Street Ext., Box 562, will be conducted 11 a.m. today from Schoolfield United Methodist Church by the Rev. M. Dana Hunt and the Rev. Billy G. Johnson. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. today in Providence United Methodist Church cemetery in Grayson County by the Rev. Bryan Whiteside.
She died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center, following three weeks of declining health.
Born Dec. 5, 1908, in Grayson County, she was a daughter of Alfred Kelly Bartlett and Sally Warrick Bartlett.
On July 4, 1936, she was married
to William Raymond Pearman, who died Jan. 13, 1991.
She lived in Grayson County until she moved to Danville in 1956. Prior to her retirement in 1974, she was employed by Dan River Mills in Department 2 Dress.
She was a member of Schoolfield United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Rebecca Lodge and Dan River Retired Workers Club.
Survivors include four sons, E. Darrell Pearman, A. Edward Pearman and Roger Dale Pearman, all of Danville, and W. Blake Pearman of Blairs; a daughter, Faye Pearman Petersen of Brooksville, Fla.; a sister, Nena Coleman of Galax; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence of a son, Roger Dale Pearman, 256 Kenmore Drive, Danville.

Mae Sours
RICHMOND - The funeral for Mae Giles Sours, 99, formerly of Pittsylvania County, will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday from Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Chatham by the Rev. Dr. John S. Ruef and the Rev. Dr. Woodrow A. Giles. Burial will be in the Sours Family cemetery.
She died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, in Chippenham Manor Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 13, 1898, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Christopher C. Giles and Virginia Tomkins Giles.
She was married
to Paul R. Sours, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Chatham.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth S. Young and Patsy Jane Sours, both of Richmond; a sister, Louise Giles Jones of Whitmell; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ruth Angel
GRETNA - Ruth Bailey Angel, 74, of Gretna, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, in Eldercare of Franklin County.
Born Aug. 31, 1922, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Charles Thomas Bailey and Rowena Duncan Bailey. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Taylor Angel Sr.; two sons, Robert Taylor Angel Jr. and Phillip Lear Walker, and one daughter, Rhonda Susan Angel.
She as a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Rock Hill, S.C.
She was retired from Burger King.
Survivors include four daughters, Ramona Bolling of Gretna, Ruby Bousman of Gretna, Ava Teasdale of Sargent, Texas, and Deanna Laney of Rock Hill, S.C.; two sons, Gene Wayne Bailey and Winston Franklin Angel, both of Chatham; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in Gretna Burial Park by Brother James Nelson Pritchett.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Ruby Bousman, 3518 Brights Road, Gretna.
