JoAnn Lippert, age 66, of Cleves, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Culpeper Regional Hospital, Culpeper, Virginia. JoAnn was born on August 6, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late James and Katherine Petric DeWire.
JoAnn is survived by her husband of 50 years David Lippert of Cleves, Ohio, currently residing at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center, Culpeper, Virginia; three daughters, Debra Kay Munger of Culpeper, Virginia, Cheryl Lippert of Cleves, Ohio, and Katherine Lippert Gibson of Rixeyville, Virginia; a son Ralph Joseph Lippert of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, a sister Louise Zippin of Cincinnati, Ohio, a brother James DeWire of Rhode Island; seven grandchildren Ryan, Jason and Nicholas Dillon, Kaitlyn Munger, Elizabeth Grace Gibson and Maximillian Acuna, and Anthony Lippert, two great-grandchildren, Dillon Bauman and Jaden Dillon, numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. in the Clore-English Funeral Home Chapel, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia 22701. Father Michael Orlowsky will be conducting the services. Burial will be private.

Joseph Leon Jenkins, age 78, of Leon, Virginia, departed this life on Friday, January 21, 2005 at Evergreen Nursing Center, Stanardsville, Virginia. Joseph was born on September 29, 1926 in Washington, D.C. to the late Donnie Jenkins and Ruby Wheeler Jenkins.
Joseph served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He retired as crew chief for Northwest Airlines and loved farming.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Mary F. Scruggs Jenkins, five children, Josephine A. Kleist and husband Lenny Kleist of Fredericksburg, Virginia, John A. Jenkins and wife Crystal of Goldvein, Virginia, James A. Jenkins and wife Michelle of Leon, Virginia, Joseph Lee Jenkins and wife Lori of Bealton, Virginia, Jack L. Jenkins and wife Robin of Warrenton, Virginia. Joseph is also survived by four brothers Clarence, William, David and James Jenkins, and five sisters Ruby Shouse, Nancy Dowd, Marion Redfern, Mary Anderson and Ruth Pickeral. Twelve grand-children and 9 ½ Great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in Clore-English Funeral Home Chapel, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia 22701. The Rev. Harold Eaton will be conducting the funeral. Burial will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, new section on Chandler Street in Culpeper, Virginia. A family visitation will take place from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home on Thursday, January 27, 2005.

Arlean Virginia Aylor Brown, age 85, of Reva, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family and friends on Saturday, January 22, 2005. Arlean was born on March 19, 1919 in Madison County, Virginia to the late Richard E. and Annie Elizabeth Aylor.
Arlean was a member of Novum Baptist Church, Haywood Home Demonstration Club, which later became the Reva Home Demonstration Club, she served as a Volunteer for the Culpeper Fire Department Ladies Auxilary and was a nurse for the late Dr. Eastham of Culpeper, Virginia. Arlean was a caregiver in her community and she loved farming, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Arlean also worked as a sales clerk and buyer in the linen department at the old Leggett on Main Street in Culpeper, Virginia where she retired from in 1977.
Arlean is survived by a daughter, Juanita Brown Carpenter of Reva, Virginia, a granddaughter Mechelle Carpenter Jorgensen and her husband Jeffrey Jorgensen of Reva, Virginia, a grandson Jason Keith Carpenter of Reva, Virginia, two great-grandchildren James B. and David W. Jorgensen of Reva, Virginia, a brother Richard E. Aylor and his wife Mattie J. Aylor of Reva, Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. Arlean shared her days with her loving caregiver and friend, Pamela Gough for the past six months.
Arlean was preceded in death by her parents Richard E. and Annie Elizabeth Aylor formerly of Novum, Virginia, her husband of 58 years Silas Keith Brown, an infant brother Jessie Douglas Aylor, a brother George Russell Aylor, two sisters Annie Ruth Aylor Duncan and Edna Earle Green and her son-in-law James Fishback Carpenter.
A Funeral service will be held at Novum Baptist Church, 1629 Novum Church Road, Reva, Virginia on Friday, January 28, 2005, at 11:00 a.m.
Pastor Jeff Light will be conducting the funeral service. Burial will follow at Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 U.S. Avenue, Culpeper, Virginia. A family visitation will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2005 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia, 22701.

Mrs. Frye Pettus Buys, formerly of Culpeper, Virginia passed away at the Tall Oaks of Reston, Reston, Virginia on January 30, 2005 at the age of 91. She was born to John Lynwood Pettus and Ruby Fontaine Gilliam Pettus both of Edenton, North Carolina on February 26, 1913 in Blackstone, Virginia and was the widow of William O. Buys. Mrs. Buys was employed by Commonwealth Medical Specialists, Ltd. as a medical transcriptionist; a member of Christ Anglican Church, Warrenton, Virginia; the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution; the Culpeper Garden Club and the Pi Beta Phi National Fraternity.
Surviving are her two daughters; Ruth T. Buys and her husband Gerald Wells of Reston, Virginia, and Hazel M. Buys and her husband Douglas Palais of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren Peter Wells and Gabriel Palais and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery (old section) on Thursday February 3, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Alister Anderson conducting the service. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Culpeper County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 731, Culpeper, Virginia 22701.

Grace Lee Butler Harlow Myers, age 90, formally of Brandy Station passed away at Culpeper Regional Hospital, Thursday July 22,2004. Her parents were the late Samuel Oscar Butler and the late Minnie Williams Butler. Grace was born in Wilmington ( Fluvanna County ), Virginia on July 4,1914. She was the widow of the late Wesley Harlow and the late Conrad Myers.
A daughter Peggy M. White and her husband Roger of Culpeper, two sons Wesley Harlow of Blackstone and Claude Harlow and his wife Helen of Falmouth, grandchildren David White, Nicholas White, Katie White, Tori White, Darlene Courtney and Debra Tyson, survive her.
Grace was also preceded in death by her daughter Margie Lee Taylor, a grandson Claude Harlow, Jr., her brothers Philip, Burley, Emmett, and sisters Lena Bruce, Fannie Breeden and Lucy Shearer.
Mrs. Myers was a member of the Brandy Baptist Church. Grace loved her family, enjoyed home life and gardening. Grace worked at J.J. Newberry Company in Culpeper for many years.
Funeral services will be held at the Clore-English Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, July 26,2004 at 10:00 a.m. with interment in Fairview Cemetery. Rev. Raymond Lee Brown will conduct the service. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 25, 2004, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Clore-English Funeral Home.

Jane Dodson Rodgers, 85, of Culpeper, passed away at the Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center on July 25, 2004. She was born to the late Minor Dodson, Sr. and the late Fannie Thornhill Dodson on October 3, 1918 in Madison County, Virginia. She was the widow of the late H.M. Rodgers and was a real estate agent.
Her daughter, Joan Heater and husband Joe, of Palatine, Illinois survive her. Other survivors include sisters Roberta “Bert” Hankins of Culpeper, Frances Glascock of Culpeper, Josephine Ford and husband Joe of Madison, sisters-in-law Velta Dodson and Janet Dodson of Culpeper and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rodgers’ brothers Richard Dodson, Bob Dodson, Otis Dodson, Minor “Shine” Dodson, C.R. “Bum” Dodson and sisters Ellen McDaniel and Alma Bennett preceded her in death.
A graveside memorial service will be held in Fairview Cemetery on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with J. Tolliver Utz conducting the service. George E. Gray, 84, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 at his residence in Syria, Virginia. Mr. Gray was born January 24, 1920 in Lime Kiln, Kentucky to the late Ula Lamont Gray and Myrtie Finnley Gray and was married to Lois Dodson Gray of the home. George retired from the U.S. Air Force as a T/Sgt.
Mr. Gray is also survived by his children, George Joseph Gray of Ojai, California, Nancy Anne Chelko and husband Tom of Liburn, Georgia, Marcella K. Gray of Chesterfield, Virginia, Zena B. Gray of Madison, Virginia, George Timothy Gray and wife Pam of Syria, Virginia and Heather Dawn Gray of Charlottesville, Virginia. Grandchildren surviving George are Brent Gray, Douglas Gray, Jeffrey Chelko, Lindsey Beth Garr, George William Gray. One sister Barbara Smith of Bonita Springs, Florida also survives Mr. Gray.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2004, 1:00 p.m. at Criglersville Cemetery, Criglersville, Virginia. Rev. Harold Pickeral will conduct the service. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force.

Iva May Combs, 77 of Culpeper, Virginia passed away Monday, July 26, 2004 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Combs was born December 27, 1926 in Rappahannock County, Virginia to the late Buddy H. Weakley and Viola Mae Burke Weakley. Iva was the widow of Edgar Gilbert Combs.
Mrs. Combs had been employed at the Culpeper Country Club as a waitress.
Iva was a member of Lael Baptist Church and worked at the Pink Ladies Thrift Shop. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Surviving Iva are her children Steve Combs and his wife Betty of Culpeper, Suzan Mastin of Fredericksburg, David Combs of Lignum, grandchildren Garron Combs, Brittany Combs, Jennifer Mastin, Wendy Mastin and David A. Combs.
Iva was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Combs.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, July 30, 2004 at Lael Baptist Church Cemetery, Lignum, Virginia at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. James Taylor conducting the service. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 29, 2004 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, Culpeper.
