RINGGOLD - The funeral for Lucy Elizabeth Landrum Roberts, 84, of 2781 Ringgold Church Road, will be conducted 2 p.m. today at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Carl E. Burger. Interment
will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
She died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, in Roman Eagle Memorial Home. She had been in declining health for two years.
Born June 10, 1912, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Leslie Paul Landrum and Lillian Ward Landrum.
She spent her entire life in Danville and Ringgold, where she was a homemaker.
On Jan. 9, 1953, she was married
to Kent Roberts, who died Sept. 10, 1971.
She was a member of Ringgold Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Anne H. Lynch of Ringgold; two sisters, Ruby L. Moore of Ringgold and Irene L. Parrish of Sophia, N.C.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Baby Thacker
Joshua Isaiah Thacker, 2405 Ridge Road, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 8, 1997, in Danville, he was a son of Larry and Lori Wilson Thacker, who survive.
In addition to his parents of the residence, survivors include three sisters, Deyonta Thacker, Keyonta Thacker and Nicole Thacker, all of the residence; his maternal grandparents, Frederick and Carolyn Wilson of Danville; and his paternal grandmother, Mildred Thacker of Danville.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Gladys Barker
Gladys Collins Barker, 87, 2081 Rocklawn Place, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in her residence.
Born Aug. 28, 1909, in Danville, she was a daughter of Oliver S. Collins Sr. and Nannie Bell Fitzgerald Collins.
On April 6, 1929, she was married
to Charlie Clarence Barker, who died Dec. 12, 1979.
She spent her entire life in Danville. She was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church, where she attended the Chapel Bible Class and was a member of W.C.T.U.
She is survived by a brother, Leslie R. Collins of Danville.
The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday from Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church by the Rev. Frederick J. Vicks. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-9 tonight at Barker Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
Nelson Burnett
Wilbert Nelson Burnett, 78, 301 Green Acres Drive, died Feb. 10, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Medical Center, following several years of declining health.
Born July 6, 1918, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of Rosky W. Burnett and Kate Estelle Burnett.
On May 26, 1971, he was married
to Nonnie McDaniel Burnett, who survives.
He spent most of his life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a building inspector for Pittsylvania County.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 325 and the Disabled American Veterans.
He was also a member of Keen Street Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include a daughter, Judith Burnett of Charlotte, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Carolyn W. Anckaitis of Colonial Heights; two sisters, Verlie Vipperman of Danville and Larcie Johnson of Ringgold; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Michael Campbell and the Rev. R.J. Barber Jr. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.

Onelia Carrington
Onelia Gentry Carrington, 90, 123 Cheryl Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in her residence, following several years of declining health.
Born June 19, 1906, she was a daughter of William R. Gentry and Mary Saunders Gentry.
She was married
to Preston Lee Carrington, who predeceased her.
She spent her entire life in the Danville area, where she was a member of Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Prior to her retirement in 1969, she was employed by Dan River Inc. in 8A Dress Room.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean C. Myers of the residence; a grandchild, Janice M. Myers of the residence; and a great-grandchild, Kelley S. Myers of the residence.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Paul Johnson and Dr. Adolph Otersen. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery.

Emma Collins
CHATHAM - Emma Frances Stone Collins, 90, formerly of Route 6, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in Roman Eagle Memorial Home, following a year of declining health.
Born July 25, 1906, in Bedford County, she was a daughter of Lemuel E. Stone and Delia Burks Stone.
She was married
to Louis W. Collins, who died Sept. 14, 1954.
She spent her entire life in Danville and Pittsylvania County, where she was a homemaker. She was also a member of Brush Arbor Baptist Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in Schoolfield cemetery by the Rev. Stephen R. Lamb.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Garland and Lois Wells, 6749 Dry Fork Road, Dry Fork, on Route 718.

Grace Garrett
Grace Waller Garrett, 87, 124 Cherry Lane, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center, following several years of declining health.
Born Sept. 26, 1909, in Danville, she was a daughter of William E. Waller and Ola Law Waller.
She was married
to James Rufus Garrett Jr., who died June 18, 1978.
She spent her entire life in Danville, where she was educated in the Danville Public School System and was a graduate of Averett College.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as secretary to the postmaster at the Danville Post Office for 32 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Wednesday Club, the Daughters of American Revolution, the Dorothea Henry Chapter and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She is survived by three brothers, Auguston Waller of Port Charlotte, Fla., Harry B. Waller of New York, and James L. Waller of Memphis, Tenn.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Lois W. Ferrell, Eunice W. Oakley, and Elizabeth W. Harrington; and a brother, David Waller.
The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Thursday from Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel by the Rev. Joseph Northen. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery.

Elsie C. Owen
Elsie Crowder Owen, 77, 419 Moffett St., died Feb. 11, 1997, in Danville Regional Medical Center, following two years of declining health.
Born May 15, 1919, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of G.H. Crowder and Minnie Motley Crowder.
On June 9, 1934, she was married
to William Montague Owen, who died Sept. 20, 1973.
She spent her entire life in Danville and Pittsylvania County, where she had worked as a nurse for Dr. Drake Pritchett for 25 years. She was later employed by Danville Regional Medical Center and Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
She was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley O. Bryant and Ellen O. Cooke, both of Danville; two sisters, Geraldine C. Gosney of Keeling and Rosa Lee Parks of Danville; and two grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Douglas Crowder, George C. Crowder, Otis Crowder, and Edgar Crowder.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel by the Rev. Lee Ellison. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of a daughter, Shirley O. Bryant, 2496 Afton Road, off Route 41.
Zea Wrenn
FRANKLIN - Zeamaize 'Zea' Hoskins Wrenn, 88, a resident of Franklin for the last three years and formerly of Danville, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 24, 1908, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Charles and Cora Byrd Hoskins.
She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Danville.
She is survived by her son, Charles A. Wrenn and his wife, Roberta, both of Franklin; three sisters, Sadie Mitchell of Portsmouth, Edith Green and Dugger Hearp, both of Danville; six grandchildren, Meredith A. Wrenn, Clyde H. Wrenn III, Donald V. Wrenn, Thomas W. Wrenn, Charles T. Wrenn, and Katherine W. Trainque; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Clyde Harris Wrenn; a son, Clyde H. Wrenn Jr.; and a grandson, Stephen A. Wrenn.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday in Highland Burial Park in Danville by the Rev. Ron Mateer.

Stella Shelton
DRY FORK - Stella D. Shelton, 85, 5477 Dry Fork Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
Born Oct. 20, 1911, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of David F. Daniel and Ida Collins Daniel.
She was married
to Beverly C. Shelton, who predeceased her.
She was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include two sons, Paul A. Shelton and B. Norman Shelton, both of Danville; a daughter, Marjorie S. Taylor of Gretna; a brother, Ralph M. Daniel of Chatham; a sister, Elizabeth D. Adkerson of Dry Fork; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday from Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Roger Collins and the Rev. Cecil Coates. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
