Nellie Mae True Duncan, 109 Westmoreland Court, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Danville, she was a daughter of Louis Walter True and Mary Emma True.
She was married
to Walter W. Duncan, who died in June 1963.
She was a graduate of George Washington High School and was retired from American National Bank after many years of employment.
She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sister, Lois T. Gillespie of Danville.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Jay F. Ashby. Burial will be in Greenhill cemetery.
The family will receive friends between 7 and 8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of her sister, 472 Avondale Drive.
Harold Sager
Harold L. Sager, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Milcroft Retirement Center in Newark, Del.
Born April 17, 1917, in Danville, he was a son of Dr. Washington Budd Sager and Helen Newman Sager.
He was married
to Ann Thomas Sager, who died June 2, 1995.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was associated with DuPont for more than 40 years in sales and employee relations departments.
In April of 1980, he retired and moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he resided until this past December.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn N. Sager of Newark, Del.; a son, Thomas L. Sager of Wilmington, Del.; a sister, Mary S. Martin of Farmville; a brother, Dr. Samuel O. Sager of Venice, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by four brothers, E. Douglas Sager, Dr. Frederick N. Sager, Dr. William L. Sager and Donald L. Sager.
A private graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in Mountain View cemetery by the Rev. Richard Cobb.

Ryland Smith
Funeral services for Ryland Davis Smith, 89, 46 Whittle St., will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Scott Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Michael Macon. Interment
will be in Chatham Burial Park.
He died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at Piney Forest Health Care Center.
Born Sept. 7, 1908, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Thomas Philip Smith and Rosa Davis Smith.
He was married
to Edith Walker Smith, who predeceased him.
He was a member of Chatham Baptist Church.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mary Brown
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mary Settle Boyd Brown, 102, of the Presbyterian Home of the District of Columbia, 3050 Military Road, N.W. Washington, D.C., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, at the home.
A native of Greensboro, N.C., she was the daughter of Samuel Hill Boyd and Elizabeth Settle Boyd.
She was married
to Clement Coote Brown Jr., who predeceased her.
She was employed by the Bureau of Archives in Washington, D.C., a member of Church of the Pilgrams and a member of the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century.
Survivors include three nieces, Mrs. Hubert S. Taylor Jr. of Richmond, Va., and Mrs. Loren R. Staunton of Manassas, Va., and Mrs. William D. Cane of New York; and a nephew, Thomas S. Boyd Jr. of Lakeland, Fla.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenview cemetery.

Lillie Campbell
Lillie Marshall Campbell, 86, 121 Mimosa St., died Tuesday night, Jan. 13, 1998, at her residence.
Born Jan. 31, 1911, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Elbert A. Marshall and Mary Virginia Sutphin Marshall.
She was married
to Lonnie E. Campbell, who died April 25, 1993.
A resident of Danville for most of her life, she was a homemaker and provided child care in her home for many years.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Campbell of Danville and Larry Campbell of Florida; a granddaughter and three step-grandchildren; a great-grandson and 10 step-great grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Swicegood Chapel by Dr. Samuel L. Greeson. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends between 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence of her step-granddaughter, Susan Mitchell, 217 Mimosa St.

Ivah Bryant
Ivah Merricks Bryant, 75, 613 Tamworth Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at her residence after two years of declining health.
Born July 24, 1922, in the Callands community of Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Claude Washington Merricks and Sallye Ann Austin Merricks.
On Dec. 22, 1945, she was married
to James Ballard Bryant Jr., who survives.
A lifelong resident of Pittsylvania County and Danville, she was retired from Rippe's Department Store, where she had worked as a fashion buyer and coordinator.
She was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include a son, Joseph "Joel" Taylor Bryant of Dry Fork; a daughter, Sallye Ann Bryant Penix of Witcha Falls, Texas; two sisters, Mamie M. Adkins and Virgie M. Wertz, both of Danville; and two brothers, Carlton Merricks of Danville and Billy Merricks of Callands.
