Donie Lewis
Donie Booth Lewis, 76, of 120 Old Piney Forest Road, Lot No. 17, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 2, 1921, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Jesse Clay Booth and Mamie Sue Wells Booth.
A member of Lighthouse Independent Methodist Church, she lived all of her life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County area and had been in declining health for several years.
Her husband, John Albert Lewis, died Sept. 30, 1992. She was predeceased by a brother, Jesse Edward Booth.
Survivors include two sisters, Doris B. Craddock of Blairs and Francis B. Day of Burlington, N.C.; two foster daughters, Betty Latchum and Sandy Oakes; a foster son, Kenneth Latchum.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. today from the chapel of Barker Funeral Home by the Rev. W.L. Wade with interment in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence.
Jean Myers
Jean Carrington Myers, 65, of 123 Cheryl Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, at her residence.
Born June 28, 1932, in Danville, she was the daughter of Preston Lee Carrington and Onelia Gentry Carrington.
Her entire life was spent in the Danville area, where she was employed by Nations Bank for 42 years. She had worked at L. Herman's department store. She was a past member of the ABWA. She was formerly a member of Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church and later became a member of Northview Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Myers of Danville; and a granddaughter.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday from the North Main Street chapel of Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home by the Rev. Adolph Oterson and the Rev. Daryl Joyce with burial in Mountain View cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
Hattie Shelton
KEELING - Hattie Mae Puckett Shelton, 77, of 1552 Mountain Lane, State Road 963, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998, in Danville Regional Medical Center. She had been in the hospital since Dec. 25, 1997, and in declining health for four years.
Born Dec. 4, 1903, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of Ex Puckett and Ninner Hawker Puckett.
She was a life-long resident of the Keeling community and was a member of Old Mill Primitive Baptist Church.
She was married
to James Freddie Shelton on Dec. 30, 1922.
In addition to her husband, of the residence, survivors include four daughters, Alma S. Ricketts of Sutherlin, Ruth S. Buckner of Danville, Linda S. McDowell of Keeling, and Gaynelle S. Clough of Mineral; two sons, Edward Shelton of Richmond and James F. "Fred" Shelton Jr. of Keeling; a sister, Annie Hawkier of Danville; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday from the North Main Street chapel of Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home by Elder Jamie Tucker, Elder Danny Parker and Elder Clyde Shelton with interment in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-8 tonight at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence.
Helen Weber
ORLAND PARK, Ill. - Helen F. Weber of Orland Park has died.
She was married
to Edward C. Weber. She was a member of Illinois Bell Pioneers.
Survivors include four children, including Lorraine Mooha, Joan F. Gignac of Danville, Va., Carol Ann Gambla and Edward J. Weber; one brother, Edward Polaszewski; 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Monday from Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home in Orland Park with a 10 a.m. mass at St. Alexander Church with burial in Resurrection cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mary Adams
Mary Ellen Adams, 67, of 108 Gatewood Road, Providence, N.C., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born July 15, 1930, in Danville, she was the daughter of Sandy Hairston and Virginia Oliver Hairston. She was married
to Clarence Hairston, who predeceased her.
Survivors include two daughters, Ester Nesmith of the residence and Vanessa McGhee of Danville; one son, Harvey Hairston of Danville; two sisters, Mammie Seales of Blackstone and Elizabeth Davis of Danville; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday from the chapel of Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home by the Rev. James E. Stewart, with interment in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence.

Helen Miller
CHATHAM - Helen Marie Savard Miller, 60, of 303 Spruce Hill, died Sunday morning, Jan. 18, 1998, at her residence.
Born Sept. 20, 1937, in International Falls, Minn., she was a daughter of Lester Savard and Anna Brunette Savard.
She was married
to Jerry Eugene Miller, who predeceased her.
She was of the Catholic faith and was retired from the Pittsylvania County Public School system as a speech therapist. She was a member of the Pittsylvania County Educational Association, the Viginia Educational Association and the National Educational Association.
She is survived by three sons, Mark E. Miller of Lexington, William H. Miller of Richmond, and Paul Michael Miller of Atlanta; two daughters, Theresa M. Hassett of Pittsburg, Pa., and Jennifer Marie Miller of Danville; a brother, David Savard of Bemidji, Minn.; six sisters, Mary Jane Wirt, Barbara Passeri, Jean Parker and Roberta Wallace, all of Bemidji, Minn., Joan Watt of Orange, Calif., and Rita Rindfleisch of Columbus, Ohio; and ten grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. from Scott Funeral Home Chapel. At other times the family will be at the residence, 303 Spruce Hill.

Mrs. Myers was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Myers of Danville; and a granddaughter, Kelly Myers of Danville.

Frances Fields
Graveside services for Frances Travis Fields, 89, 309 First Court, Oak Hills, will be conducted 3 p.m. today in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Jay F. Ashby.
She died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 3, 1908, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of John Frank Travis and Gertie Elizabeth Yates Travis.
On Jan. 29, 1927, she was married
to R. Keith Fields, who survives.
For more than 60 years, she lived on Montague Street. Since 1995, she had made her home with her son.
She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church for more than 45 years, where she was a member of Marion Browder Sunday School Class 13. She was also a member of United Methodist Women.
In 1967, she retired from the sewing room of Dan River Mills and was a member of Dan River Retirees Club.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include her son, Robert T. Fields also of the residence; a sister, Gertrude Winn of Virginia Beach; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Townes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Gertrude Fuller
Gertrude Fox Fuller, 90, formerly of 427 Franklin Turnpike, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, where she had been a resident since 1986.
Born Aug. 15, 1907, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of James Coleman Fox and Emma Hutcherson Fox.
She was married
to Nathaniel Fuller, who predeceased her.
A resident of Danville for most of her life, she was employed at Dan River for more than 30 years.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
She is survived by her stepson, Tommy Fuller of Florida.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Addie Bolling; a brother, Earl Fox; and a stepdaughter, Cora Leggins.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Ralph E. McCormack.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8 tonight at Townes Funeral Home.
Jimmy Harris
AXTON - Jimmy Lee Harris, 50, 382 Conway Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville-Henry County.
Born Aug. 16, 1947, in Henry County, he was a son of Walter Grant Harris and Doreda Gillispie Harris, who survive.
He was married
to Lisa Brown Harris, who also survives.
He was an employee of American Furniture Company.
He was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife of the residence and his parents of Axton, survivors include a daughter, Rachel Lynn Harris of the residence; two sons, Terry Lee Harris of Fieldale and Robert Grant Harris of the residence; a sister, Phyllis Cannoy of Axton; three brothers, Charlie Ray Harris and Rodney Keith Harris, both of Axton, and Kenneth Grant Harris of Laurel Park; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at McKee-Stone Funeral Chapel, Martinsville, by the Rev. Don Reynolds. Burial will be in the Eanes Family cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
Herman Parker
CHATHAM - Herman Washington Parker, 72, of 7361 Irish Road, died Tuesday evening at his residence.
Born in Pittsylvania County, Aug. 2, 1925, he was a son of the late Benjamin T. Parker and Gracie Ida Mitchell Parker.
Mr. Parker was married
to Dorothy Alene Rigney Parker, who survives.
He was a member of Marion Baptist Church and was retired from the logging business.
Mr. Parker served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by a son, Donnie Parker of Dry Fork; three daughters, Judy P. Wallace of Dry Fork, Susan P. Custer of Danville, and Gail P. Goard of Chatham; a sister, Lois P. Gibson of Chatham; five grandchildren, Brian Pritchett, Tracy Pritchett, Brittany Custer, Donnie Wayne Parker and Tammy Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Kate-Lyn Parker and Mike Abbott.
Mr. Parker was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Parker.
The funeral will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at 2 p.m. from Scott Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Steve E. Johnson. Interment
will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
