Earl Henderson
Earl Norman Henderson, 67, 205 Sweetbriar Drive, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in the Veteran's Medical Center at Salem, where he had been hospitalized for nine days. He had been ill for several years.
Born Jan. 23, 1931, in Danville, he was a son of Addison B. Henderson and Ola Goble Henderson.
He had lived all of his life in Danville where he had worked as a self-employed electrical contractor until his retirement due to health reasons.
A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he was a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict.
He was married
to Jacqueline Gammon Henderson on July 31, 1954.
Survivors include his wife, of the residence; one son, Eric Norman Henderson of Level Cross, N.C.; three daughters, Aleisha L. Patchin of Rock Island, Ill., Maureen A. Oxford and Patrice L. Abbott, both of Danville; two brothers, Clyde Henderson of Danville, and Wayne Henderson of Martinsville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Garnetta H. Atkins and Vona Henderson; and five brothers, Roy Henderson, Carl Henderson, Kenneth Henderson, Addison Henderson Jr., and Hubert Henderson.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. David V. McGuire with military honors by American Legion Post 325.
The family will receive friends at the residence off Parker Road.
Clyde Hendrick
BROOKNEAL - Clyde Andrew Hendrick, 87, 107 Todd St., died Sunday morning, March 22, 1998, at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Born July 21, 1910, in Halifax County, he was the son of Acie Reecie Hendrick and Mary Alice Puckette Hendrick.
He was a member of Brookneal Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee.
He was also a charter member of Brookneal Volunteer Fire Deparment.
An employee of Shell Motor Co. for 32 years, he was also the owner of Hendrick's Auto Repair for 32 years.
He was married
to Ida Mae Harris Hendrick, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Clyde Andrew Hendrick Jr. of Nathalie, and Richard Bailey Hendrick of Danville; one daughter, Eoline Hendrick Habel of Richmond; one sister, Elizabeth H. DeJarnette of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was precedes in death by a son, Bobby Andrew Hendrick; a daughter, Carolyn Ann Hendrick Puryear, and a grandson.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brookneal Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles Ward. Burial will be in Childrey Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Henderson Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
Gordon Hill
Gordon L. Hill, 68, died Saturday afternoon, March 21, 1998, at Piney Forest Health Care Center, where he had resided for the past 21/2 years.
Born Sept. 12, 1929, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Walter Linwood Hill and Bernice Blankenship Hill, who survives.
He was married
to Katie Toler Hill, who predeceased him.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
Hill had spent most of his life in Danville where he worked for Dan River Inc., and he was of the Baptist faith.
A graveside service will be conducted 4 p.m. today at Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Michael Hearp.

Helen Henderson Sandridge
Helen Florence Henderson Sandridge, 76, 205 Randolph St., died Sunday morning, March 22, 1998, at her residence.
Mrs. Sandridge was born May 21, 1921, in East Point, Ga., the daughter of the late R. Carl Henderson and the late Nell Craddock Henderson.
She was married
to J.T. "Tommy" Sandridge, who predeceased her December 28, 1978.
Mrs. Sandridge was formerly a floral designer for H.W. Brown Florist.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Bridges, and her husband Frank Bridges of Danville, Va.; one son, Keith Sandridge, and his wife Joan Sandridge of Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, R.C. Henderson of Prince George, Va., and Aubrey Henderson of Danville, Va.; one sister, Faye H. Collins of Danville, Va.; a half-brother, Curtis Henderson of Hixson, Tenn.; a half-sister, Betty Lou Luffman of Lexington, N.C.; two grandchildren, Steve Bridges and Philip Bridges, both of Danville, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Michael, Katy and Abby Bridges, all of Danville, Va.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Durham conducting the services.
The family will receive friends Monday night, March 23, 1998, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home. Other times the family will receive friends at 205 Randolph St.

Ina Blount
MT. LAUREL - Ina Ligon Blount, 78, 1121 Blounts Crossing Trail, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at Halifax Regional Hospital.
Born March 16, 1920, in Halifax County, she was a daughter of Robert Ligon and Estella Conner.
She was married
to Benjamin Franklin Blount, who survives.
She was a member of Mount Laurel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband of Mt. Laurel, survivors include a son, Bob Blount of Mt. Laurel; a sister, Sara L. Lee of Richmond; and two grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Blount; and a brother, the Rev. Leonard Ligon.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Powell Funeral Home Chapel, South Boston, by the Rev. Ralph Rice. Burial will be in Clover cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home, and other times at the residence, 1121 Blounts Crossing Trail.
Travis Bousman
Travis Cameron Bousman, 92, died Monday night, March 23, 1998, at Riverside Health Care Center after two years of declining health.
Born Aug. 29, 1905, in Franklin County, he was a son of Robert Giles Bousman and Nannie Mae Walker Bousman.
On April 29, 1930, he was married
to Daisy Patterson Bousman, who died April 10, 1963. On Jan. 2, 1965, he was married
to Myrtle Hawkins Bousman, who survives.
He spent most of his life in Danville and graduated from Danville High School.
He was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as superintendent of Sunday school, secretary of official board, chairman of board and an elder.
For 25 years, he worked for the city of Danville in the purchasing and payroll department. In 1953, he went into business with his brother, Murray Bousman, as co-owners of Riverside Esso Service Station. He later joined Hogan Distributing Co., Inc., retiring after 29 years as vice-president and director.
He was a charter member and first treasurer of City of Danville Employees Federal Credit Union.
He was active in YMCA and was associated with Danville Fair Association for many years as superintendent of the poultry department and as a member of board of directors. He raised poultry and pigeons for most of his life, and exhibited them in the U.S. and Canada.
In addition to his wife of Danville, survivors include two daughters, Nancy B. Fralin of Danville and Betty B. Welch of Waverly and Atlantic Beach, N.C.; two stepsons, Wesley Hawkins of Danville and Daryl Hawkins of Woodbridge; a stepdaughter, Marie H. Dabbs of Greensboro, N.C.; three sisters, Georgia B. Gourley of Penhook, Matilda B. Turbiville of Danville and Nancy B. Breckinridge of New York City and Naples, Fla.; two brothers, William J. Bousman of N. Hollywood, Calif., and Carlton W. Bousman of Clarksville, Tenn.; four grandchildren and 15 step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and 31 step-great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by three brothers, R.G. Bousman Jr., Woodrow W. Bousman and Henry Murray Bousman; and two sisters, Doris M. Bousman and Lolene B. Singleton.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Highland Burial Park by the Rev. Clifton C. McCoy.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 tonight at Townes Funeral Home, and other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. David Fralin, 146 College Ave.
