Baby Noah Yeats of Danville died Friday, December 11, 1998, at his residence.
Survivors include his mother, Amy Martin Yeatts of Danville; his father, Randy Otwa Yeatts Jr. of Danville; one brother, Kaleb Michael Farley of Danville; one sister, Maranda Jane Yeatts of Danville; maternal grandparents, Kay Austin of Danville and Fred and Betty Martin of Kernersville, N.C.; and paternal grandparents, Randy O. Yeatts Sr. and Mary Jane Dobmeier, both of Danville.
A private graveside service will be held 2 p.m. today at the family cemetery with the Rev. Freddie Vicks officiating. Barker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Minnie Bolton
ALTON, Va. - Minnie Ferges Bolton, 69, of 2089 Traynham Grove Road, died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Vencor Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.
Born June 17, 1929, in Person County, N.C., she was the daughter of Philip Ferges and Rosa Faulkner.
She was married
to Otis Bolton, who predeceased her.
She was educated in the public schools of Person County. She was a member of New Ephesus Baptist Church, Semora, N.C.
Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Brandon of Alton and Dorothy Garrett of the residence; one son, James Bolton of Leasburg, N.C.; eight sisters, Janie Russell of Semora, N.C., Pattie Coleman and Catherine Cunningham, both of Alton, Mamie Thomas of Hillside, N.J., Mary Wilson of Durham, N.C., Viola Brandon of Philadelphia, Pa., Ossie Martin of Columbia S.C., Alice Mitchell of Roxboro, N.C.; five brothers, Philip Ferges Jr., of Roxboro, Robert Ferges of South Boston, Bennie Ferges of Red Bank, N.J., Willie Ferges of Irvington, N.J., Shank Ferges of Newark, N.J.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Ephesus Baptist Church, Semora, N.C., with Dr. J.R. Surgeon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
There will be a viewing from noon to 8 p.m. today at Plenty Funeral Home Chapel in Semora.
Frances Burnett
Frances Elizabeth Nichols Burnett, 60, of 345 Andhurst Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at Duke Medical Center after several years of declining health.
Born April 19, 1938, in Pleasant Grove, N.C., she was the daughter of William Lewis Nichols, who predeceased her, and Nadine Myers Nichols, who survives.
She was married
Dec. 14, 1959, to Walter M. Burnett Jr., who survives .
She lived most her life in the Danville area where prior to her decline in health, she worked as an administrative assistant at Roman Eagle Memorial Home for 15 years. She attended Kindgom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include three sons, Maxie Lewis Williams of Smithfield, Ala., Anthony Wayne Williams and William Lesley Burnett, both of Danville; three sisters, Shirley Ruth Nichols Wynn of Chapel Hill, N.C., Emma Marie Nichols Addison and Mattie Nichols Pierce, both of Durham, N.C.; three brothers, William Swanson Nichols of Hillsboro, N.C., Joseph Harvey Nichols of Danville and Roy Thomas Nichols of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one brother, Claude Lewis Nichols.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. John Searcy III and the Rev. Charles W. Easter officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, and at other times at the residence.
Charlie Coffey
Charlie Augusta Coffey, 87, of 1131 Ferry Road, died Monday morning, Dec. 14, 1998, in Vencor Hospital in Greensboro, N.C., after a number of years of declining health.
Born March 17, 1911, in Lenoir, N.C., he was the son of Roba Coffey and Edna Brown Coffey.
He was married
to Hattie Palmer Coffey, who survives.
He worked as a machine operator for Hooker Furniture Co. in Martinsville for a number of years and was a member of Forest Lawn Baptist Church. He lived in Altavista for a number of years, but had been living in Danville since 1952.
In addition to his wife of Roman Eagle Memorial Home, survivors include one sister, Ellen Highland of Mishawaka, Ind.; and one brother, Clarence Coffey of Lenoir.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Daryl Joyce and the Rev. Roger Austin officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel.
Robert Crutchfield
Robert Thomas Crutchfield, 66, of 320 Sycamore St., died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born Jan. 24, 1932, in Person County, N.C., he was the son of Robert Crutchfield and Sallie L. Crutchfield.
He was married
to Doretha H. Crutchfield, who survives.
He was a retired form setter of APAC of Virginia. He was a member of Loyal Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Esther Crutchfield of Mount Rainer, Md., Margie C. Elmore of Greensboro, N.C.; three brothers, William Crutchfield and Charlie Crutchfield, both of Milton, N.C., and Joe Crutchfield of Semora, N.C.; four sisters, Rena Bobbitt of East Orange, N.J., Mollie Wilkerson of Milton, N.C., Emma Jay and Louise Garland, both of Semora, N.C.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Loyal Baptist Church with the Rev. Lovelle Maxwell Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Viewing will be 7-8 p.m. today at Cunningham and Hughes Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Anna Fuller
Anna Barnes Durham Fuller, 93, formerly of 439 Avondale Drive, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 12, 1998, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home, where she had been a resident since February 1996.
Born July 1, 1905, in Burlington, N.C., she was the daughter of Carson Herman Durham Sr. and Sallie Newlin Durham.
She was married
to William H. Fuller Jr., who died April 4, 1986.
She lived most of her life in Danville and was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She was a member of the Dorothea Henry Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a former member of the Book Club and the Wednesday Club.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Sarah Durham Powell and Mildred Durham Harvey; and one brother, Carson Herman Durham Jr.
Survivors include one son, William H. Fuller III of Danville; one daughter, Anne Wayne Patterson of Danville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jay Ashby officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her son, 116 Westhampton Avenue, and at the residence of her daughter, 223 Magnolia Drive.

C. Otto Harold
CAMDEN, S.C. - C. Otto Harold, 68, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998.
Born in The Hollow, Va., he was the son of Lawson Monroe Harold and Gracie Vipperman Harold.
He was married
to Sylvia McManus Harold, who survives.
He was a World War II Marine Corps Veteran, where he received the National Defense Service Metal. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, Va. He was a retired senior data systems specialist with E.I. DuPont. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he taught the men's Sunday school class.
In addition to his mother of Danville, Va. and wife, survivors include one sister, Lillie H. McFarling of Danville.
He was predeceased by one sister, Cleo Harold, and two brothers, James Harold and Carlyle Harold.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bruce Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel.
Sadie Jones
AXTON - Sadie Robertson Jones, 84, of 1576 A.L. Philpott Highway, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at her residence.
Born March 14, 1914, in Henry County, she was the daughter of Dee Moss Robertson and Betty Ann Cook Robertson.
She was married
to Edward Hill Jones, who predeceased her.
She was the of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four brothers, Dan S. Robertson and Sam K. Robertson, both of Axton, Frank M. Robertson of Newport News and Roger W. "Bill" Robertson of Martinsville; and four sisters, Lena R. Roach of Gretna, Cassie R. Lester of Danville, Mozelle R. Oakes of Brosville and Theo D. Robertson of Axton.
In addition to her husband, she also was predeceased by five brothers, Gordon Robertson, Dee Robertson, Roy Robertson, Henry Robertson and Abraham Robertson.
A private service will be held 3 p.m. today at Roselawn Mausoleum in Martinsville, with the Rev. Chuck Haley officiating.

William Sutherlin Norman III, 60, of 186 Hawthorne Drive, died Saturday night, Dec. 12, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born March 10, 1938, in Danville, he was the son of William Sutherlin Norman Jr. and Alice Whiteside Norman.
He was married
to Lee Myers Norman, who survives.
He was a graduate of Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army.
He was a vice-president with Scott and Stringfellow, Inc. and was formerly associated with Dan River Inc. for 22 years.
A member and past deacon of First Presbyterian Church, he was also a member of the German Club, the Kiwanis Club and the Danville Golf Club.
In addition to his wife of the residence, he is survived by three daughters, Susan Ladd Norman and Alice Whiteside Norman, both of Charlotte, N.C. and Laura Pickens Norman of Danville; one son, William Sutherlin Norman IV of Danville; one brother, Cooper Whiteside Norman of Fairfield, Iowa; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jack F. Heinsohn Jr. officiating.

Howard Pruitt
Howard Lee "Buck" Pruitt, 57, of 73 Ashlawn Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at Danville Regional Medical Center, after a number of years of declining health.
Born June 10, 1941, in Caswell County, N.C., he was the son of John and Grace Pruitt.
On May 11, 1981, he married
Christine Haymore Pruitt, who survives.
He had lived in Danville most of his life. He was employed by Dan River Inc. for 20 years, prior to retirement, due to declining health.
In addition to his wife of Danville, survivors include one son, Randy Lee Pruitt of Danville; two daughters, Kimberly Pruitt of Providence, N.C. and Theressa P. Solomon of Prospect Hill, N.C.,; one step-daughter, Jacqueline H. Boettcher of Portsmouth; four sisters, Anne P. Mitchell of Danville, Frances P. Carver and Brenda P. Bowes, both of Roxboro, N.C., and Joyce P. Brandon Rainey of Elon College, N.C.; one grandchild; and two step-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wrenn Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Jack Robertson officiating. Interment
will be in Highland Burial Park.

Maggie Scearce
CASCADE - Maggie P. Scearce, 91, of 1183 West Ford Road, Lot 3, died Monday morning, Dec. 14, 1998, at her residence after several years of declining health.
Born Aug. 10, 1907, in Dillon, S.C., she was the daughter of Charlie Parker and Lula Parker Parker.
She was married
in 1939 to Claude Allen Scearce, who survives.
She had worked for Dan River Inc. in her earlier years and was of the Holiness faith. She spent most of her life in the Cascade community of Pittsylvania County, where she was a homemaker and had helped her husband with the farming.
In addition to her husband of the residence, survivors include five daughters, Barbara Turner of Bassett, Mary Parker of Thomasville, N.C., Lula Mae Hunt of Collinsville, Diane Dyson of Eden, N.C., Jimmie Stout of Cascade; two sons, Clyde Allen Scearce of Cascade and Lynwood Hardy of Bachelors Hall; two stepdaughters, Virginia Brott of Wake and Barbara Meeks of Ridgeway; one brother, Clifford Parker of Thomasville, N.C.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Wheeles officiating. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
