Cora Belle Warren
Mrs. Cora Belle Warren, age 72, died at Wellmont Hospice, Bristol, TN on Thursday, April 1, 2005. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA and of the Baptist faith. She worked as a seamstress for 17 years at Harwood Company. She was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Warren, her mother, Annie Elizabeth Bott, and her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by: two sons, Darrell Warren and wife Christina of Abingdon, VA and Randall ' Randy' Warren of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Janet Torbett and husband John of Meadowview, VA and Anita Lewis and husband Tony of Damascus, VA; brothers Calvin Caudill of Abingdon, VA and William Frankie ' Tank' Caudill of Front Royal, VA; sisters Vivian Bellamy of Meadowview, VA and Belva Riddle of Abingdon, VA.; nine grandchildren, Amanda Mullins, Jennifer Krauser, Andrea Krauser, Jason Guerra, Phillip Torbett, J.J. Torbett, Torrey Torbett, Alexis Castillo and Jessica Guerra; five step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a lot of friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. \endash Saturday, April 2, 2005 in the main street chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Paul Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service. A graveside committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. \endash Sunday, April 3, 2005 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to assemble at the cemetery
by 1:50 p.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Phillip Torbett and Jason Guerra, granddaughters Jennifer Krauser and Andrea Krauser, nephew Homer Quesenberry, and friend Paul Scyphers. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Emory Robinette.

Helen Chapman Counts
Mrs. Helen Chapman Counts, 90, died Saturday, April 2, 2005, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born January 20, 1915 to Lee and Lelia Akers Chapman. Mrs. Counts was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Virginia having lived in the Hayter' s Gap Community before moving to Abingdon in 1978. She was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, B. L. Counts and a brother, Lawrence C. Chapman. Survivors include

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at 11:00 AM in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Mr. Bill Haywood officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 \endash 9 PM Monday at the funeral home or anytime at the home of Shirley and Ron Snowden. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Howard Curtis Salyer
HOWARD CURTIS SALYER, 72, of Abingdon, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005. He was originally from West Virginia and was a longtime member of the Smythe County Moose Lodge. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Brown of California; one brother, Leon Salyer of Abingdon; two sisters, Violet Simmons and Thelma Elderlen both of California; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Jake, Ronnie, Wanda, Raymond, Stewart, Karen, Rusty, and Andy. Interment will be private.

Johnny Daniel Graham, age 59, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, April 7, 2005.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Graham, his father, Douglas Graham, his mother, Hester Graham, his brother, Jerry Graham.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Debby and Scooter Rutter, Bristol, VA, Janie and Barry King, Damascus, VA, Melissa and David Bowman, Bristol, TN, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Kay Graham and Jimmy and Coleen Graham both of Glade Spring, VA, a sister-in-law, Karen Graham, Atkins, VA., special nephew and his wife, Eddie and K Stout, Bristol, VA, his grandchildren, Tara Duff, Amber Stout, Curtis King, Kerri King, Autum Bowman, great grandchildren, Nicholas Duff and Madison Duff, several nieces and nephews.

Banie Ofelia Smith
Banie Ofelia Smith passed away Friday, April 8, 2005 in Bristol, TN at the age of 81.
Mrs. Smith was born October 19, 1923 in Whitetop, VA. After high school, she moved to Baltimore, MD where she met and later married Robert W. Smith. Mrs. Smith and her husband moved to North Carolina, and later to California where they owned and managed a motel and restaurant for many years. After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Smith resided in North Carolina, Arizona and Virginia.
Mrs. Smith enjoyed being a homemaker after retirement. She also liked to travel and visited many locations in the United States, Mexico, Bahamas Islands and Europe. Throughout the years, Mrs. Smith was active in the Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and William Coldiron and a son, Harvey Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Smith, Bristol, VA, One sister, Eleanor Tate, Bristol, VA, a brother, Bob Coldiron of Michigan and many nieces and nephews, one grandson, Harvey Smith, Jr., and two great grandchildren, Sean and Nicole Smith all of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, April 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Farris Funeral Service, Main Street Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Mildred Pauline ' Polly' Arrington passed away Friday, April 8, 2005 at her residence.

Arrington, Abingdon, VA; her daughters, Mrs. Penny Arrington Hite and husband, Walter, Abingdon, VA, and Mrs. Nan Arrington Harman and husband, Michael, Alamogorda, New Mexico; her sisters, Mrs. Bertha Elliott, Roswell, Georgia, Mrs. Louise Clements, Statesville, NC, and Mrs. Ida Jean Bowers, Dallas, TX; hergrandson, Andrew Arrington White, Los Angeles, CA.
The graveside service will be conducted Monday, April 11, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. in Knollkreg Memorial Park.

Robert Herman Hubble
ROBERT HERMAN HUBBLE, 83, died April 10, 2005 at his home in Abingdon. Mr. Hubble was born in Smyth County on March 19, 1922. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ransom Hubble and Sue Young Hubble; a sister, Dorothy Ruth Houck; and a brother Donald Young Hubble. He moved to Abingdon ten years ago, after 34 years of service with the Baltimore division of Martin-Marietta. He was a member of First Christian Church of Abingdon.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Harmon Tilson Hubble of Abingdon; two sons, Robert Harmon Hubble (Joey) of Ceres, VA, and James Michael Hubble (Adrienne) of Mertztown, PA; one daughter, Rozanne Hubble Counts (James) of Abingdon; a sister, Nora Mae Wygal of Roanoke; four grandsons, Robert Thomas Hubble (Heather), Gerald Andrew Counts, Carl Matthew Counts, and Michael Harmon Hubble; one granddaughter, Melissa Renee Hubble; four great grandchildren, Robert Alexander Hubble, Candace June Hubble, Dillon Patrick Hubble, and Trevor Jacob Hubble; and several nieces and nephews.

Roger Leo Mellas
Roger Leo Mellas, age 60, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at the Johnston Memorial Hospital. Roger was a U. S. Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and will always be a hero in our hearts. He is survived by:

Curtis Jack McCroskey
Mr. Curtis Jack McCroskey, age 71, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2005 after a lengthy illness.
Born on February 16, 1934, Jack was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was a son of the late Ralph McCroskey and Lola Fleenor McCroskey. He was also preceeded in death by a nephew, Jimmy McCroskey and dear friend and neighbor Roscoe Worley. Jack was a farmer and a longtime member of Valley View Baptist Church where he was currently serving as deacon. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran and had served on the ship U. S. Papgo as well as serving at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba and various other ports at sea.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley McCroskey; a daughter, Thea Jo Green and husband John of Bristol, V and two grandsons, Adam Green And Ethan Green all of Bristol, VA; three brothers, Fred McCroskey and wife Patsy, James McCroskey and wife Rose and Spurgeon McCroskey and wife Pat all of Abingdon, VA; very special friends, Larry Mumpower of Abingdon and Bobby Hutton of Bristol, VA and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, April 17, 2005 in the Valley View Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Widner and Rev. Roy Yelton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be provided by the Highlands Fellowship Honor Color Guard.

Patsy Clara Powers
Mrs. Patsy Clara Powers, age 64, went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 15, 2005, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle. She was born August 10, 1940 in Washington County, Virginia where she had lived her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Roscoe and Annie Gertrude Harless Barrett. Patsy had worked at the William King Grade School, Johnston Memorial Hospital, Cedar Lawn Nursing Home, Abingdon Manor and the Martha Washington Inn. She also volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank and was a life long member of the Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Chester (Bruce) Powers; four children, David Powers, Mark Powers, Mary Ellen Powers and Billy Powers; five brothers and sisters, Fannie Marie Stevens, Carolyn Ann Davis, John Franklin Barrett and twins, Carl and Carlene Barrett. Patsy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by: Her son, Timothy Bruce Powers and wife Gail of Abingdon, Va. Her daughter, Shelia Osborne and husband, Ray L., Jr. of Abingdon, Va. KENNITH MCCLANAHAN, 85, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 16, 2005. Born in Buchanan County to the late Wilson and Eva Looney McClanahan, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Avery, Fred, and Frank. He was a member of the Macedonia Church of Christ and a resident of Abingdon for the last 25 years.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Edith Fletcher McClanahan of Abingdon; son James McClanahan and his wife Deana of Abingdon; daughter Lyn Britt and her husband Terry of Huntington Beach, CA; 4 grandchildren, Patrick McClanahan of Pittsburgh, PA, Christopher McClanahan and wife Molli of Charlotte, NC, Shannon Maynor and husband Jesse of Jacksonville, FL, and Erin Nicole Britt of Huntington Beach, CA; and 2 great grandchildren, Christopher Currie McClanahan and Jarah Lyn Maynor.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA, with Evangelist Michael S. McCoy and Rev. Bill Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

Brenda Roberson Jones Lowe
Mrs. Brenda ' Tootie' Roberson Jones Lowe, age 63, passed away Monday, April 18, 2005 at her home following a brief illness. Born on January 7, 1942 in Carter County, Tennessee, Brenda and was preceded in death by her father Jessie Roberson of Elizabethton, TN.
Brenda was a graduate of the Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and had been employed there for 35 years before retiring in August 2004. Brenda had served primarily in the critical care unit. She was a member of Hunter First Baptist Church in Elizabethton, TN and attended Antioch Baptist Church in Bristol, VA. She was a volunteer for Faith in Action, a member of the Sycamore Shoals Quilters and the Wolf Hill Quilt Guild Stitchers Club.
She is survived by her loving husband Charles Lowe; her loving mother, Helen Roberson of Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sherry Jones of Bristol, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Freddie Nunley of Abingdon; two grandchildren, Heather and Cody Nunley of Abingdon; her brothers, Bud Roberson and wife Linda of Lacy Springs, AL, Bill Roberson and wife Connie of San Antonio, TX, Charlie Roberson and wife Judy of Temple, TX; her sisters, Carolyn Jones and husband Tony Sr. of Knoxville, TN, Barbara Miller and husband Lee of Johnson City, TN, Elaine Mottern and husband Paul of Elizabethton, TN, Ruth McDaniel and husband Mackey of Johnson City, TN; her mother-in-law, Alma Workman of Newton, NC; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Mary Lou Combs and members of the Red Hat Society.

Mrs. Velma LaVerne Carver of Rhea Valley and a resident of Westhaven Retirement Living for the past 2 \'bd years, wife of Thomas A Carver, Jr., mother of Judy Smith, mother-in-law of Lee Smith, grandmother of Angela Smith, Pope and April Smith Agee; great grandmother of Loren Marie Agee, Owen Lee Pope and Callie Ann Agee; sister-in-law of Donna Cline, and blessed with the loving companionship and friendship of Virginia Rhoten, found peace with her Lord on April 20, 2005.
One of her greatest joys in life was feeding the children during her many years at Liberty Hall. She did her best to comfort those she cared about when they needed her. May she rest in peace with Granddaddy Junior.

Retha Irene Atwell
Retha Irene Atwell, 85, of Abingdon, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2005. A lifelong resident of Washington County, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Dessie Patrick, and was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Atwell was retired from Piggly Wiggly with 30+ years of service. She had a love for life, and especially enjoyed looking at her flowers and watching the birds from her window. She truly loved her family, friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar E, Atwell; one son, Billy Gene Atwell; and one brother, Alfred Patrick.
Survivors include her two sons, Jimmy Atwell and wife Dorothy, and Don Atwell, all of Abingdon; two sisters, Betty Moore of Kingsport, TN and Peggy Jane Garrett of Abingdon; one sister-in-law, Gay Patrick of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Vicky Musick, Pam Atwell, Geoff Atwell, Donald Atwell, and Christa Morton; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.; and a very close, special friend, Joyce Sullins.

Mr. James Kennith ' Jim' McClanahan age 62 passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005. He was preceded in death by his father, Kennith McClanahan.

William G. Cannon
William G. ' Bill' Cannon passed away Friday, April 22, 2005, in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Cannon was a retired excavating contractor and a member and Deacon of Greenfield Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan with special interest in the Virginia Tech Hokies, Atlanta Braves and NASCAR.
Born in Watauga County, NC, on May 13, 1930, to the late Ben and Nina Cannon, he resided in the Meadowview/Glade Spring area the majority of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ben Junior Cannon and two sisters, Louella Cannon and Lucille Cannon.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy Neese Cannon; daughter Barbara Lowe and husband Ken, Johnson City, TN; sons Gary Cannon, Blacksburg, VA; Danny Cannon, Glade Spring, VA; and David Cannon and wife Angie, Cary, NC; grandchildren Teresa Steffey Anderson and husband Chris, Kingsport, TN; Kendra Lowe, Johnson City, TN; and Makenzie Cannon, Cary, NC; great granddaughters Kristen and Katelyn Anderson, Kingsport, TN; sister Lucy Ann Yarber and husband Jimmy, Bristol, TN; brothers Chuck Cannon and Tom Cannon, Bristol, TN; and Jack Cannon and wife Evelyn, Green Ridge, MO; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Georgia Sweet Roberts age 96, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2005 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Roberts.
She is survived by four sons, Cecil Roberts, Bristol, VA, Gilbert Roberts, Dexter Roberts, and Thomas Roberts all of Abingdon, VA, a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Russ Roberts, Bristol, VA, a brother, Eugene Sweet, Bristol, TN, a sister, Kathleen Tate, Bristol, TN, three grandsons, one granddaughter, five great grandsons, four great granddaughters, three great great granddaughters.
The funeral service will be conducted Monday, April 25, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the Greenwood Freewill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Zachariah R. Wynegar
Mr. Zachariah ' Zach' Wynegar, age 90, passed away April 24, 2005 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
Born on October 28, 1914 in Washington County, Zach was a son of the late John W. Wynegar and Vina Heath Wynegar. He had lived on North Fork River Road since 1947. Zach was a member of North Fork Baptist Church and had retired from the Washington County School System.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Kestner Wynegar; two sons and daughters-in-law, John J. Wynegar and Hattie Wynegar and Jerry Z. Wynegar, Sr. and Linda Wynegar all of Abingdon; foster children, Cleve Ingle of the home and Mary Ann Rasnake of Chilhowie and many more foster children he and his wife had cared for over 32 years. They also provided a home for many nieces and nephews, including Horace. W. Griffin and Dave Crane of Abingdon. Zach is also survived by three grandchildren, Lisa Booth of Tampa, FL, and Shawna Kennedy and Jerry Z. Wynegar, Jr. both of Abingdon; three great grandchildren and a brother, Scott H. Wynegar of Polk City, FL
The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Donald Thayer officiating. The interment and committal service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. A procession will leave the funeral home at 1:45 P. M. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.

Dr. Gregory Mont Eades
Dr. Gregory Mont ' Greg' Eades age 40, entered the kingdom of heaven Sunday, April 24, 2005, at the Johnston Memorial Hospital after a long, courageous battle with brain cancer. Greg was a lifelong resident of Abingdon, Virginia where he graduated from the Abingdon High School in 1982. In 1987, he graduated from the LIFE Chiropractic College and then practiced chiropractic medicine for eleven years at Eades Chiropractic Clinic in Abingdon. He was a member of Highlands Fellowship and had grown up attending the Pleasant View United Methodist Church where he had recently started attending again. Greg was an avid volunteer at the King Benevolent Fund and the Highlands Fellowship Food Pantry. He was a very devoted Christian who lived his faith and was an inspiration to his family, friends, and community. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mont and Elizabeth Eades and maternal grandfather, Homer Mays.
He is survived by: His two children, Alex Eades and Abby Eades of Bristol, Va.; His mother and stepfather, Betty and John Mowery of Abingdon, Va.; His father and stepmother, Bob and Betty Eades of Abingdon, Va.; A sister, Sharon McKinney and husband, Sam of Chilhowie, Va.; His maternal grandmother, Cleo Mays of Abingdon, Va.; Step-brothers, Tim Mowery and wife, Rebecca of Bristol, Va., Bill Yontz and fiance', Ruth of Raleigh, N.C., Bob Yontz and fiance', Shannon of Ventura Calif.; Step-sisters, Cynthia Yontz of Richmond, Va., Tammy Mowery of Richmond, Va., Melissa Mowery of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Three nephews, Seth and Samuel McKinney and Ethan Mowery, a niece, Carley Yontz and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Peggy Anne von Pippin
Peggy Anne von Pippin, 70, of Abingdon, formerly of Berryville, Virginia, Newport News, Virginia and Coral Gables, Florida, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005. She had lived in the Abingdon area for the past six years, was a devoted Methodist, and was a member of Abingdon United Methodist Church.
Peggy graduated from Clark County High School in Berryville, VA in 1952. She then attended Georgia State College for Women from 1952-1956, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. She earned her Master' s Degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA in 1984.
Ms. von Pippin was an educator with the Newport News, Virginia School System for 30 years. She taught there from 1956-1961, then relocated to Coral Gables, Florida, where she taught with the Dade County School System from 1961-1966. She then returned to Newport News to again work with the school system until her retirement in 1991.
In 1972, Peggy was listed as Honorary Teacher of the Year with the Newport News Schools. She was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the VA Eta Chapter in Newport News, where she was a member from 1959-1998. She then transferred to the Alpha Psi Chapter in Bristol where she was currently a member. Peggy was a volunteer and member of the Historical Society of Washington County, and a devoted member and board member of the Washington County Animal Defense League. She was a proud season ticket holder at the Barter Theatre.
Ms von Pippin was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Taylor and Laura Mae Stone von Pippin. Survivors include one sister, Flora Lee Bargeron; one nephew, William W. Bargeron, Jr.; and several cousins.
Cryptside services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2005 at 2pm at the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum located on the grounds of Forest Hills Memory Gardens, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon with Reverend Bill Rowland officiating. Entombment will immediately follow.
Visitation will be from 1-2pm before the service.

Willard C. Goodpasture
WILLARD C. (BILL) GOODPASTURE, Jr., 65, of Meadowview, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was the former owner/operator of Interstate Texaco located at the old Exit 7, a journeyman meat cutter, and was retired from Bristol Compressors. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, was an avid reader, and was a friend of the Hayters Gap Library. Mr. Goodpasture was of the Christian faith, and loved the peace and quiet of his mountaintop home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard C. and Grace Tilson Goodpasture. Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Goodpasture; two sons, David Michael Goodpasture and his wife Tina, of Meadowview, and Jeffrey Mark Goodpasture and wife Donna, of Abingdon; one daughter, Michelle Johnson and husband Frank, of Bristol; two stepdaughters, Becky Darnell and husband Chris, of Kingsport, and Amy Brunty and husband Patrick of Abingdon; grandchildren April Leonard and Kristy Johnson; step-grandchildren, Dawn Thompson, Paula Thomas and husband Steven, Tramara Helmick, and husband Whitney, Lori Beth Counts, and Dylan Brunty; brother, Richard E. Eula Muriel Norris
Mrs. Eula Muriel Norris, age 92, died Thursday, April 28, 2005, at the Grace Healthcare Center. She was born Eula Muriel Combs, the first child of Robert Lee and Bertie Combs of Watauga, North Carolina born on December 19, 1912. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and remained committed to international mission efforts. She enjoyed quilting and other activities at the Senior Citizens in Damascus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis F. Norris, a granddaughter, Karen Eileen Norris, two sisters and four brothers, Ila Weaver, Velma Johnson, Carlton Combs, Rufus Combs, Robert Combs and Rex Combs. DIANA MINK, 58, of Meadowview, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, and a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church. She was previously employed by Piggly Wiggly for 11 years and by American Furniture in Chilhowie for 9 years.
Mrs. Mink was preceded in death by her father, Preston Crosswhite, and a daughter, Virginia Elaine Mink.

Joan Berry Clark
Joan Berry Clark, 74, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2005. She was a member of the Seven Mile Ford Presbyterian Church in Chilhowie, Virginia. She was an elementary school teacher, having received a B.S. degree from East Tennessee State University. She was also a homemaker to a large and very grateful family. In her later years, she was delighted to be a member of the Red Hat Society. Most important of all, she was a Christian and she honored the Lord all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Joe King Berry and Haseltine Harrison Berry of Abingdon and her brother, the late Dr. John Charles Berry of Lexington, North Carolina.
She is survived by: Her loving husband of over fifty years, Sam K. Clark, Sr. of Glade Spring, Va.; Her sons, Dr. Samuel Keller Clark, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Glade Spring, Va. Joe Berry Clark and wife, Ginger of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Christopher Mark Clark and wife, Beth of Roanoke, Va.; Her daughters, Yvonne Harrison Clark of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Anne Kimberley Clark Hutton and husband, Bill of Glade Spring, Va. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Katherine Leigh Clark of Fort Mill; Emily Jo Clark of Fort Mill; Kelly Ann Hutton of Glade Spring; and her grandson, William Daniel Hutton of Glade Spring. Margaret Rebecca Smith Watson
Margaret Rebecca Smith Watson died at Grand Court in Bristol, Virginia on April 29, 2005. She had resided there since 1998. Margaret was born on December 22, 1912 in Abingdon, VA, a daughter of the late Howard Franklin Smith and Liza Dutton Smith.
She will be remembered by all of those whose lives she touched when she served as President of the Bristol Business and Professional Women' s Club, three years as President of the Bristol Chapter of AARP, four years as the President of the Triple L Club at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, TN where she was a member for twenty years. She also taught Sunday School at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church in Bristol for several years.
Mrs. Watson is survived by her two sons, James R. Gose, Jr. of Piney Flats, TN and R. Franklin Gose of Portland, ME; two grandchildren, Rebecca Virginia Haworth of Johnson City, TN and Richard Franklin Gose of Conway, SC. She is salso survived by one brother, Robert Leroy Smith of Bristol, VA.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 2, 2005 at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon, VA with Rev. Thomas Gentry, her brother-in-law, officiating. Interment will follow the service.
