SANDRA LOUISE MARTIN
Sandra L. Martin, 55, of Greensboro, N.C. departed this life on June 19, 1998 at Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N,C.
Mrs. Martin was born January 1, 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia the daughter of Samuel Childs and Katie Wells Childs. She was a registered Nurse who last worked in the Winchester area as the Director of Staff Development at Shawnee Springs Nursing Home until she became ill and was unable to continue. She was a devoted mother and caretaker for her son Kevin Lamar Williamson who preceded her in death on January 3, 1998. She was an active protagonist for the disabled with the commonwealth of Va. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Youngstown, Ohio.
She was married to the late Nathaniel Martin, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories her parents; Samuel and Katie Childs of Stephens City, Va. - three daughters Kathy Williamson-Gilmer of Winchester, Va., Sonya Summers of Stephens City, Va. and Candace Martin, a college student at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, Booker T. Williamson of Greensboro, N.C. with whom she made her home and Nathaniel Martin, Jr. of Winchester, Virginia; two sisters, Barbara Oates of Youngstown, Ohio and Virginia Lewis of Sacramento, Ca; one brother Calvin I Childs of Stephens City, Va.; eight (8) grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. June 25, 1998 at Cartwright Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, Virginia
Pallbearers will be Jeff Oates, Dwayne Oates, Darryl Howard, Ronald Lewis, Calvin Childs, Mike Kellie, Tony Gatling, and Mike Goss
Visitation will be one hour before service at the funeral home,

TILLIE O. BASSLER
Tillie Olga vonBlonski Bassler, age 89, of 122 Woodcrest Drive, Winchester, Virginia, died Thursday, June 18, 1998 in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Bassler was born on May 6, 1909 in East Prussia, Germany, the daughter of the late August and Mary Lobert vonBlonski. She was a former real estate broker in Fenton, MI and a homemaker. She was of the Catholic Faith.
Her husband, Guido Karl Bassler, preceded her in death in 1973.
Surviving are: one son Jerry Bassler of Winchester, VA, one daughter, Anita Heath of Stowe, VT and Casey Key, FL; four grandchildren John Karl Bassler, William August Bassler, Marc Benedict Bassler and Melissa Anne Heath and one sister, Maria Kuhnhenn Rogers of Warren, MI.
One sister, Agnes Gade and one brother, August vonBlonski, have preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 24, 1998 at Omps Funeral Home, Winchester, VA with Father Dennis Kleinmann officiating. Private Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, VA.
The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M.
WINIFRED A. BRANCH
Winifred "Winnie" Branch, age 78, of Winchester, Virginia, formerly of Pleasanton, CA. died Saturday, June 20, 1998 at the home of her Granddaughter.
Mrs. Branch was born on January 7, 1920 in Reydell, Ark., the daughter of the late Lewis Dee Mullikin and Amanda McCoy Whatley.
She was formerly employed as a retail clerk for Sprouse Reitz of Pleasanton, CA. and as a cashier for McDonalds and Burger King of Livermore, CA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pleasanton and of the Eastern Star of Pleasanton.
Her husband, Elbert Branch, whom she married on August 24, 1938 in Pine Bluff, Ark., preceded her in death on July 4, 1994.
Surviving Mrs Branch are two sons, James Branch of Winchester, VA and Bob Branch of Bakersfield, CA; one sister, Mildred Turner and three brothers, Carroll Mullikin, Tom Mullikin, and Floyd Mullikin all of Pine Bluff, Ark; four Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren. A sister, Beatrice McKenny preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Callaghan Mortuary, Livermore, CA. Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Livermore, CA.
Pallbearers will be Chris Branch, Keith Rice, Jerry Branch, Jeffy Branch, Bill Carter, and Curtis Burke.
The family will receive friends at the Callaghan Mortuary on Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M.

LOIS F. CHISHOLM
Mrs. Lois Florence Chisholm, age 88, of 102 Ashley Circle, Winchester, VA, died Monday, June 22, 1998 at her residence.
Mrs. Chisholm was born May 19, 1910 in Cumberland, MD, the daughter of the late Ralph and Florence Sanders Leonard. She was retired as a registered nurse for the pediatrics unit of Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, MD. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, theater, and the arts.
Her husband, Robert "Spanky" Victor Chisholm, preceded her in death.
Surviving is one son, James Michael Patrick Chisholm of Winchester, and her former daughter-in-law, Tuyet Lieu Chisholm, with whom she made her home; three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, John Chisholm of Cumberland, MD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with the Reverend Father John Kelly officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Chisholm, Benjamin Chisholm, Boyd Pitcock, Richard Singhas, and Eddie Cassidy.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at Omps Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends until 9:00 P.M.

RICHARD B. COTTEN
Richard Berkeley Cotten, age 78, of Capon Bridge, West Virginia, died Thursday, June 18, 1998 in the V.A. Medical Center, Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Mr. Cotten was born September 8, 1919, in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of the late Sheppard M. and Ruth Wilson Cotten. He was a political writer and an editor and writer with the Conservative Newspaper in Washington, DC. He was of the Presbyterian Faith and was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, having achieved the rank of Seaman 1st Class.
Surviving with his companion, Estelle Bauer, with whom he made his home, are three sons, Richard Cotten of sacremento, CA; James Cotten of Georgetown, CA; and Michael Cotten of Reno Nevada; two daughters, Sandra Cutler of N. Olmstead, OH and Barri McLean of Bethel, AK; twenty-eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be private in Winchester National Cemetery.

JEANNETTE K. FINNIFF
Mrs. Jeannette Katherine Finniff, age 69, of 561 Deercreek Road, Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, June 21, 1998 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Finniff was born on July 13, 1929 in Martinsburg, WV, the daughter of the late Mrs. Brucie Bennett Fogle. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Finniff married Melvin L. Finniff in 1945 in Hagerstown,MD.
Surviving with her husband, is a son, Gary Melvin Finniff of Winchester, two daughters, Linda Kay Campton Main of California and Sharon Diane Nester of North Carolina;six Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren.
All services are private.

BETTY L. KESHKA
Betty L. Keshka, age 61 of 409 Westmoreland Drive, Stephens City, VA, died Friday, June 19, 1998 in the Fair Oaks Hospital, Herndon, Virginia.
Mrs. Keshka was born on December 13, 1936 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elta Raymond. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
Mrs. Keshka married Leo A. Keshka on May 11, 1957 in Washington, D.C.
Surviving with her husband are: one daughter, Teri Lee Deak and a son-in-law, Brian Deak of Stephens City, VA.; and a brother, Donald Clayton Raymond of New Ulm, TX.

Rebecca Davis "Becky" Russell, age 64, of 239 Morningview Drive, Inwood, West Virginia, died Monday, June 22, 1998 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Russell was born on September 12, 1933 in Freeland, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Edmund and Esther Davis Williams. She was a secretary with S. Freidman and Sons in Landover, MD, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Westview Baptist Church, Martinsburg, WV.
Mrs. Russell married Karl M. Russell, Jr. in 1955 in Hyattsville, MD.
Surviving with her husband are: one daughter, Noreen Ann Russell of Philadelphia, PA; two sons, Karl M. Russell, III of College Park, MD and Thomas Kyle Russell of Greenbelt, MD; two grandchildren; seven sisters, Phyllis Kaufman and Blodwyn Smith, both of Pottstown, PA, Beatrice Taylr4 of Catlett, VA, Esther Wray of Bunker Hill, WV, Ruth Effrig of Gilbertsville, PA, Gwenie Kromis of Freeland, PA and Elinor Reese of Walnutport, PA and three brothers, Llwewllyn Williams of Easton PA, Edmund Williams of Pottstown, PA and William Williams of Sassamansville, PA.

LAURA E. BLASDEL
Lura Ella "Lou" Blasdel, age 80, of 30 Cardinal Drive, Bunker Hill, West Virginia, died Monday, June 15, 1998 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Blasdel was born on April 14, 1918 in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Andrew and Sevilla Lockhart Snyder. She was a homemaker, a member of the Rosedale Baptist Church and was an avid bowler.
Mrs. Blasdel married Steve Girard Blasdel, Sr. on January 19, 1937 in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Surviving with her husband are: one son, Steve G. Blasdel, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; two daughters, Carolyn "Carly" Wilhelm and Jacqueline Ruth Hall, both of Bunker Hill, WV; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Reatha Ruby of Berkeley Springs, WV and Frances Ruby of Baltimore, MD and two brothers, Clyde Snyder of Buffalo, NY and Fred Snyder of Texas.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at Rosedale Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Ken H. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Mark Chassereau, David Woodall, John Dillard, Curt Taylor, Jason Miller and Gary Ruby.
