CASTLEWOOD - Dan Kiser, 73, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was born in Hazel, Va. He was the son of the late Carter and Maude Kiser. He was retired from Clinchfield Coal Company. Mr. Kiser was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Kiser and Allen Kiser. He was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church in Lebanon.
He is survived by his wife, Lois M. Kiser of Castlewood; two daughters, Danita K. Brown and husband Scott of Sterling, Va.,. and Marla K. Holland and husband Matthew of Suwannee, Ga.; three grandchildren, Shelby Holland, Carter Holland and Cambria Brown; two sisters, Aileen K. Greer of Lebanon and Bennett K. Hall of St. Paul, Va.; three brothers, Ewell Kiser of Castlewood, Myron "Bus" Kiser of Castlewood, and Denver Kiser of Clemmons, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, on Friday, July 12, 2002, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Darrell Fletcher and Austin Fields officiating. Interment will be at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. Pallbearers will be David Hall, Greg Kiser, Michael Kiser, Bobby Kiser, Robin Turner, Tivis Johnson, Scott Campbell and Bruce Russell. Lee W. Lyons
RICHLANDS - Mr. Lee W. Lyons, age 79, of Cliff Street, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at a Bristol Tennessee hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Newbern, Va., and was a son of the late Lee B. and Dillie Cressal Lyons, both Pulaski County, Va., natives.
He was a life long resident of the Buchanan and Tazewell County areas and was a retired mine foreman for Pittston Coal Corp. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the VFW in San Antonio, Texas. He was also a member of the Tunnel Hill House of Faith in Honaker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Chapman, Nannie Whitt and Margaret Lyons; also three brothers, Malcom, Buddy and Benjamin Lyons.
Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. Brenda Gail Lyons; one daughter, Mrs. Janice Brown of Richlands; four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Rife of Coldan, Va., Mrs. Martha Kinder of Jewell Ridge, Va., Mrs. Juanita Davis of Shelby, N.C., and Mrs. Judy DuJardin of Earl, N.C.; two grandchildren, Lisa McNulty and Michelle Messer; and three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Joseph and Emily.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Billy Hess, Rev. Jessie Whited and Rev. Monte Elswick officiating. RICHLANDS - Mrs. Margaret Frances Mallory, age 75, of 427 Buchanan St., died Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Tazewell County, Va., and was a daughter of the late Reese B. and Ada Myril Dixon Newberry, both Tazewell County, Va., natives.
She was a life long resident of the Richlands area, was a member of the Richlands First Assembly of God and the Richlands Rebekah Lodge 62.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Calvin H. Mallory; one sister, Mrs. Clara Simmons; and two brothers, Mr. Curtis Newberry and Mr. Herman Newberry.
Survivors are: one son, Ronnie Mallory and wife, Polly Ann of Richlands; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Null of Richlands and Mrs. Virginia Craig of Steelesburg, Va.; one brother, Mr. Bill Newberry of Baptist Valley, Va.; and one step-grandchild, Dr. Cyrus Nasseri.

Robert C. Mullins
NORTON - Reverend Robert C. (Bob) Mullins, age 63, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Norton. Reverend Mullins was the pastor of the Oles Hill Community Church, Norton, chairman of the clergy committee of Norton Community Hospital, a member of the pastoral services at St. Mary's Hospital and Norton Community Hospital and the chaplain of the Duffield Nursing Home. He was a true man of God, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to all that knew him. He was also a former employee of Baker Funeral Home. Reverend Mullins was preceded in death by his parents, Evans Mullins and Ruth Mullins Ventro; his first wife, Evelyn Maggard Mullins; a daughter, Kathy Mefford Pennington; and a brother, Dale Ventro.
Surviving spouse: Darlene Mullins, Norton; daughters, Mrs. Tony (Tina) Powers, Pound; stepdaughter, Lori Price, Norton; sons, Robert W. Theron Mullins
Theron Mullins, age 59, 106 Oak Road, Bristol, Tenn., died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, in Wellmont Hospice House. He was a retired truck driver and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Spangler Mullins; daughter, Sherri Wright, Bristol Tennessee; sons, Rob Mullins, Bluff City and Brian "Pee Wee" Mullins and Mike Mullins, both of Bristol Tennessee; sisters, Gloria "Spicy" Adkins, Piney Flats and Pal Gangewere, Blountville; and brother, Eugene Mullins, Bristol Tennessee. Also surviving are five grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruth McCloud Thompson Orr, age 80, of Bristol Virginia, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in Russell County, Va.,. and had lived most of her life in Bristol. She was a retired employee of the H.P. King Company and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hugh L. Thompson and R.M. (Bud) Orr; her parents, George M. and Sylvia P. McCloud; a brother, George M. McCloud Jr.; and two sisters, Elizabeth Lambert and Wilma Bostic.
She is survived by one son, Hugh L. Thompson Jr. and wife Mattie of Bristol Virginia; two special grandchildren, Craig Alan Thompson and Lea Anne Campbell; five great-grandchildren, Mackensey, Landon, Jada, Megan and Austin; three brothers, C.H. (Bud) McCloud of Bristol Virginia, James McCloud of Gate City, Va., and Cecil McCloud of Springfield, Va.; four sisters, Ellen Marie Snead of Lebanon, Peggy Sue Page of Fall Branch, Tenn., Virginia Ann Roark of Church Hill, Tenn., and Betty Joe Colley of Durham, N.C.

Billy C. Ramey
BLUFF CITY - Billy C. Ramey,. 59, 429 Elizabethton Highway, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002.
He was born in Scott County, Va., a son of the late Ervin R. and Laura Thelma Baker Ramey. He moved to Bluff City in 1990 and was an employee of the city. He was a member of Gardners Chapel Primitive Baptist Church and was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Anita Hubbard Ramey; a daughter, Tammy Ramey Rosenbalm of Piney Flats; three sisters, Mrs. Lonnie (Cleo) Akers of Manville, Va., Mrs. Sam (Nancy) McMurray of Hiltons, Va., and Mrs. Guy (Patsy) Leonard of Antioch, Ill.; two brothers, Dewey Ramey and Joe Ramey, both of Bristol Virginia; one granddaughter, Sashia Nicole Himes; one grandson, John Aaron Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8 o'clock Thursday evening, July 11, in the chapel of Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with Mr. Richard Kirkland, Minister, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the family at P.O. Box 323, Bluff City, TN 37618.

Edith Reynolds
Edith Reynolds, formerly of Edgemont Towers, Bristol Tennessee, died Monday, July 8, 2002 in N.H.C. Health Care, Bristol Virginia. She was a resident of Bristol for the past 30 years and a member of Windsor Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one niece and three nephews.

WARNER ROBBINS, Ga. - William E. "Bill" Rolen, 55, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, in Warner Robbins. He was a native of Saltville and a son of the late Virginia R. Neal and William D. Rolen.

DAVENPORT, Va. - Mr. Russell Ball, 68, passed away Thursday morning, July 4, 2002, in a Richlands hospital. Born Sept. 6, 1933, in Virginia, he was a son of the late Walter A. and Ruby Tiller Ball. He was a resident of the Davenport area and had served in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Ball and one sister, Betty Jo Ball.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Fletcher Ball of the home; three brothers, Gary Ball of Lebanon, Franklin Ball and his wife, Linda, of Davenport and Donald Ball and his wife, Ellen, of Aberdeen, Md.; two sisters, Iris Foote and her husband, Jim, of Elkton, Md., and Sue Wassum of Churchville, Md.

He was the son of the late Maynard J. and Mary Jane Mauk Broyles. He was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Limestone. He was a former truck driver for Mason Dixon in Kingsport. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Fern Broyles; a son, Tommy Gale Broyles; and two sisters, Greta Byrd and Virginia Ann Copp.

He was born at Bluefield, Va., and was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, Salem.
He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Deaton; son, Robert Elliott Deaton II; and a brother, George Marshall Deaton.
He is survived by his mother, Alice Deaton of Abingdon; his wife, Anne of Roanoke; two daughters, Marshall Harrell of Roanoke and Laura Lowrey of Galena, Kan.; two granddaughters, Weda Anne Reed and Kayla Lynn Haynes of Galena; brother, Tom Deaton and wife, Carolyn, of Abingdon; and several nieces and cousins.

MARION - Mr. Charles P. Gentry, 57, died Friday, July 5, 2002.

William H. Helton
William H. "Bill" Helton, 69, of Bristol Virginia died Thursday, July 4, 2002, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Bristol and a son of the late Henry Edgar and Jinnie Repass Helton. He began his service to the City of Bristol Virginia by working with the Bristol Virginia Fire Department for two years. He then served with the Bristol Virginia Police Department for 35 years, retiring as a captain. Following retirement, Bill was associated with Blevins Funeral Home and continued to dedicate his time in service to others.
Bill was a member of Shelby Masonic Lodge 162 and the Jericho Shrine Temple. He served on the Shrine Motor Patrol and as the Chief Rabban. He was a member and worthy patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 128 and served as the Grand Representative to the State of Oklahoma for 2002. He was closely associated with the AAA Safety Patrol and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of North Bristol Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Whittaker Helton; and a brother, Eddie Helton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Shaw Helton; his son, William H. "Chip" Helton Jr. of Bristol Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Bob (Patsy) Shuttle and Mrs. Terry (Barbara) Lovins, both of Bristol; one niece, Mitzi Lovins, and one nephew, Sammy Shuttle, both of Bristol; and first cousins Doris Neese and T.B. Helton, both of Bristol, and Charles Helton of Florida.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10 o'clock Monday morning, July 8, 2002, at North Bristol Baptist Church with Dr. Malcolm Stewart, Rev. Bob Steele, Rev. Eric Godfrey and Rev. William Slagle officiating. Eulogies will be delivered by Bristol Virginia Chief of Police William H. Price and Former Chief of Police Tom Stone. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery with Police Honors presented by the Bristol Virginia Police Department Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bristol Virginia Police Department, the Jericho Shriners, Eastern Star Chapter 28 and Bill's many friends.

Jean Woolley Jones
The funeral service for Jean Woolley Jones will be conducted at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home with Dr. David L. Welch officiating. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery will be private. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the funeral home. Mrs. Jones, of Bristol Tennessee, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, in Solvang, Calif.
