Mr. Selfe, 60, of 337 Morningside Lane died Friday, July 19, 2002, at home after a long illness.

Ally Lynn Testerman
Ally Lynn Testerman, age 3, passed away July 20, 2002, in the arms of her parents at Brenner Childrens Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was the daughter of Alan and Robin Bringman Testerman, and had attended Wallace United Methodist Church. Ally was an active fundraiser for CHARGE Syndrome and for the March of Dimes. She served as the 2002 Bristol Ambassador Child for the March of Dimes WalkAmerica.
Surviving besides her parents are: brother, Carson Testerman; paternal grandparents, Delmus L. "Jay" and Betty Sue Testerman of Bristol Virginia; maternal grandparents, Robert and Linda Bringman of Salisbury, N.C.; maternal great-grandparents, Rev. Robert Sr. and Anne Bringman of Orangeburg, S.C.; aunts and uncles, Leon and Carol Rasnake of Bristol Virginia, Randy and Joyce Jones of Erwin, Tenn., Gary and Nancy Barrett of Bristol Virginia, Greg and Debbie Bringman of Bluff City and Juanita Wild of Clearwater Beach, Fla.; and special cousins, Travis Rasnake, Bryan Rasnake, Brenna Jones, Nicole Barrett, Zack Bringman and Morgan Bringman.
She was preceded in death by great-grandmothers Lilie Belle Cullop and Ruth Peele.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Sarver officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Travis and Bryan Rasnake, Randy Jones and Greg Bringman. MEADOWVIEW - The funeral service for Mrs. Alice Louellen Vermillion will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Farris Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bill Rowe officiating.

Jesse E. Walker
Jesse E. Walker, 79, of Bristol Virginia, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Gary, W.Va., a son of the late Jesse and Maude M. Walker, and had lived in Bristol since 1948. He was a graduate of Gary High School and the National Business College of Roanoke. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and World War II and was the recipient of the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal.
He was associated with Monroe Calculating Machine Company from 1948 until 1968, and retired as a corporate executive with Huff-Cook/Settlers Life Insurance Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the B.P.O. Elks. He established the Jesse Walker Foundation for the support of local charities and was an honoree of the Harmon-Walker Scholarship established by Settlers Life at Emory & Henry College.
He is survived by a son, Robert E. Walker and his wife Mary Clayton of Abingdon; one sister, Louise Underwood of Tavares, Fla.; one brother, Jerrel Walker of Radford, Va.; two grandchildren, Clay Walker and Jessica Walker; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion, Judy Simcox.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Booth of Bristol; and three brothers, Donald Walker of Bristol, Claude Walker of Waynesville, N.C., and James Walker of Morristown.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7 o'clock Tuesday evening in the chapel of Blevins Funeral Home with Dr. David Stancil officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to a favorite charity of the donor. DANTE - Mary Lou Mallonee Buttry, 89, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 26, 2002, at Ridgecrest Manor in Duffield, Va.
She was born in De Leon, Texas, a daughter of the late James Benton and Sarah Christian Mallonee. She was a member of First Assemby of God in Dante.
She is survived by her husband, Jerald F. Buttry; two daughters, Paula Jean Halloway and husband, Freddie, and Sheila K. Burkett, all of Dante; four grandchildren, Jeff Halloway, Andrea Halloway, Angie Addington and Jill Burkett; one great-grandchild, Danielle "Dani" Burkett; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, with the Rev. Mickey Sexton and Evangelist Ernie Addington officiating. Entombment will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. Nora G. Gillespie
KINGSPORT - Nora Guy Gillespie of 2417 Idle Hour Road was released from suffering July 26, 2002, at her home after a lingering illness.
She was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Scott County to W.T. and Eva Cordelia Guy.
Before moving to Kingsport at the age of 15, she completed Riverview School in Scott County. As an adult, she received her G.E.D.
She had been a member of Vermont United Methodist Church since the age of 17 till her death. She was a former Sunday school teacher of children and adults. She was a life service member of the United Methodist Women, former choir member and former member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Gillespie was employed by several downtown Kingsport stores as a sales clerk during the time of her children completing elementary and high school. She also took in ironing and cleaned houses for other people; then for 13 years, she took care of her mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bovard Gillespie in 1969; her son, Danny Gillespie in 1945; one sister, Pearl Guy McNutt; five brothers, Elmer, Jesse, Bill, Bordie and Howard Guy; four sisters-in-law, Florence Guy, Ann Guy, Ruby Guy and Hazel Grace; and four brothers-in-law, Thurman McNutt, R.J. Clark, Goodell Gillespie and Harvey Grace.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Gillespie of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Billy Gillespie of Kingsport and Gordon and Jill Gillespie of McComb, Ohio; granddaughter Megan Gillespie of McComb; grandson Eric Gillespie of McComb; her sister, Lakie Guy Clark of York, Pa.; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Adaline Guy of Athens, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Alice Guy of Johnson City and Margaret Gillespie of Rogersville, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Vermont United Methodist Church.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the church with Rev. Mack Turner and Rev. Homer Roller officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eric McClellan, Denver King, Phil Elam, Bill Salyer, Wendell Smith, Chris Jones, Ken Breeding Jr., David Salyer, Carl Bacon, Jimdixon and Lowell Harris.

RURAL RETREAT - James "Frank" Grandstaff, 66, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at home. He is survived by his wife, Donna Totten Grandstaff of Rural Retreat; five daughters, Missy Sullins, Sharon Grandstaff, Julie Grandstaff and Ashton Grandstaff, all of Rural Retreat, and Dawn Miller of Chilhowie; one son, Matt Grandstaff of Rural Retreat; his mother, Annie M. Grandstaff of Edinburg, Va.; two sisters, Barbara Bowman of Edinburg and Frances Walker of Stanardsville, Va.; three brothers, Robert Grandstaff of Basye, Va., William Grandstaff and Kenneth Grandstaff, both of Edinburg; seven grandchildren, Anita Sullins, Amanda Sullins, Savannah Miller, Gracie Billings, Jordan Huffman, Devin Huffman and Channing Miller; his mother-in-law, Virginia W. Totten of Atkins; two brothers-in-law, Pete Totten of Manassas and Rev. Mark Totten of Marion; and two sisters-in-law, Annette Adkins of Wise and Saundra Landes of Manassas. Goldie Y. Gray
HARMAN, Va. - Goldie Yates Gray, 74, of the Deel Fork section passed away Friday, July 26, 2002, in Pikeville Methodist Hospital in Pikeville, Ky. Born in Buchanan County, Jan. 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Auty Carl Yates and Carrie Fuller Yates. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and a member of New Zion Big Rock Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee I. Looney; and her second husband, George Gray.
She is survived by two daughters, Peggy J. Potter of Harman and Connie Hurley and husband, Tony, of Grundy; one son, Jeffery Lee Looney of Grundy; one brother, Ralph Yates of Grundy; one granddaughter, Mrs. Buddy (Donna) Ratliff; four grandsons, Jerry Potter, Shane Potter, Derek Hurley and Justin Hurley; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Leigh Ratliff and Mariah Renee Potter.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 28, 2002, at 4 p.m. at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, with Rev. Danny Hess, Evangelist Michael Trent and Rev. Donnie Prater. Burial will follow in MountainValley Memorial Park at Big Rock.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
The body will be left at the funeral home where friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday evening with services at 7 p.m.

WISE - Stewart Banner "Tony" Holbrook, 68, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, Ind.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion of Martinsville and Mooresville, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Edith Carpenter Holbrook; and a brother, Gary Holbrook.
Surviving are one daughter, April Holbrook of Martinsville, Ind.; one grandson, Tyler Michael Holbrook of Martinsville, Ind.; a spcial friend, Shriley Painter of Martinsville; two sisters, Loretta Monroe of Jenkins, Ky., and Pauletta Dowden of Tampa; and two brothers, Bobby Darrell Holbrook of Mooresville and Wayne Holbrook of Wise.

Terry Lee Horn
BLUFF CITY - Terry Lee Horn, 52, of 1809 Pleasant Grove Road died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Johnson City Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Paige, Va., and had lived in Bluff City for the past 10 years.
He was a son of Virginia Hebert of Bluff City and the late Lee Hubbard Horn.
Mr. Horn was the fixed operations director for Chaparral Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Johnson City.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and of the Assembly of God faith.
Survivors, in addition to his mother include his wife, Vivia G. Horn; three daughters, Jessica N. Horn, 24, of Greenville, S.C., Veronica G. Jones, 19, of Bluff City and Renee L. Bond, 30, of Tazewell; one sister, Neda Jane Charles of Bluff City; his stepfather, Leo Hebert of Bluff City; three grandchildren, Victoria Bond, 8, Hunter Bond, 5, and Gaibriel Thomas, 3, all of Tazewell; and several nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday from Morris-Baker South Chapel. Chaplain Ed Jefferies will officiate. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Burial Park, Johnson City. HONAKER - Mrs. Jane Ann Smith Jones, 74, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002, in Lebanon. Born March 9, 1928, in Russell County, she was a daughter of the late Arvel Lufus Smith Sr. and Nettie Gilmer Smith. She was a member of Honaker Methodist Church and a lifelong resident of the Russell County area.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Jones; and two brothers, Earl Smith and Arvel Smith Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Henry McDonald "Mac" Jones Jr. of Johnson City and Larry Gilmer Jones of Raven.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at West Hill Cemetery at Lebnaon with Rev. Mike Ward officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery.
