ABINGDON - A graveside service for Mr. Donald Carson Barrett will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Tim Stevens officiating.

Scottie W. Blevins
GREEN COVE, Va. - Scottie W. Blevins, 28, died Friday, June 7, 2002, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Galax, Va., and had lived in Washington County, Va., most of his life. He was employed by Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. in Atkins.
He is survived by his wife, Kelli Owens Blevins; one daughter, Lindsay Mae Blevins of Whitetop, Va.; one son, Robert Scott Blevins of Whitetop; two stepdaughters, Danazia Hope Owens and Desteni Faith Owens both of the home; his mother and stepfather, Linda and Gary Cole of Memphis, Ind.; his father and stepmother, Robert and Patsy Blevins of Whitetop; two sisters, Jennifer Lynn Blevins of Salisburg, Ind., and Tina Marie Belaire of Parks, La.; his paternal grandmother, Marie Blevins of Whitetop; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in Green Cove Baptist Church with Rev. Charles E. "Jody" Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Green Cove Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gregor, Lee Gregor, Daniel Breaux, Danny Walls, Donnie Turnmire and Maurice Greer. CLINTWOOD - Mary Ethel Boyd, 90, died at the home of her daughter on Sunday, June 9, 2002.
Formerly of Buchanan County, she had lived in Clintwood since 1974. Her husband, Alonzo Boyd, and one brother, Otis Boyd, preceded her in death. Mrs.Boyd was a member of the Caney Fork Old Regular Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice F. Brooks, Clintwood; sons, J.L. Boyd, Seguin, Texas, Carvel Boyd, Newark, Del., and Roy Boyd, Aiken, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchilden; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, from the Clintwood Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Danny O'Quinn, Elmer Woods and Bennie Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Phipps Memorial Cemetery, Clintwood. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with a song service to follow at 7 p.m. Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.

WISE - Mabel Coffey, 87, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2002, at the Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap.
She was of the Holiness faith and she attended the Blue Bell Hollow Last Day Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Silvester Coffey; and two sons, Bob Coffey and Jim Coffey.

James Morgan Hay
JACKSON, Ky. - James Morgan Hay, 70, passed away suddenly Saturday, June 8, 2002. He was the engineer, founder and owner of Intermountain Broadcasting, which has two broadcasting properties which started with WEKG (AM) in 1969 and WJSN (FM) in 1978. He loved Appalachia, our beautiful mountains and it's people and was an avid supporter of our educational and athletic programs. Born Feb. 19, 1932, at Counts, Va., he was the oldest son of Ira and Ruby Hay. He was a veteran of the Korean War and received the prestigious Air Medal in 1955. He was a member of the United Hampton Church and a charter member of the Jackson Lions Club with over 30 years of service. He graduated form Haysi High School in 1951, furthered his education at Valpo Tech in Valpariso, Ind., and continued at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Gloria (Madge) Edwards Hay of Jackson, Ky.; two sons, Michael Vance Hay of Jackson, Ky., and Dwayne Keith Hay of Louisville, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Lori Michelle Hay of Jackson and Ryan James Keith Hay of Louisville. He is also survived by one great-grandson, Timothy Christopher Caden Hogg.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Haysi Funeral Home with Rev. John Bunn officiating. Burial will follow in the Linden Edwards Cemetery at Birchleaf, Va. A visitation will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, at Haysi Funeral Home.

Claudine Yates Helton
GASTONIA, N.C. - Ms.Claudine Yates Helton, 75, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lucille Yates of Lebanon; her husband of 46 years of marriage, Lawrence Helton; four brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Bessie Sue Hess, Abingdon, and Eva Cody and husband, Harvey, Gastonia; one son, Jessie Helton and wife, Karen, Abingdon; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the graveside in the Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery with Mr. Matthew McCoy officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Stevie Little. Music will be provided by Harvey Cody.

Max Franklin Ledford
Max Franklin Ledford, 67, of Bristol, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord at 1:32 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Born on April 19, 1935, in Lincoln County, N.C., a son of the late Farris and Bryte Hull Ledford, he has resided in this area since 1986.
Mr. Ledford was a woodworker having worked at Century Case Goods in Hickory, N.C., and Cortrim Hardwood Parts in Bristol. He also had worked at Jacob's Creek Job Corps, retiring in 1995.
Mr. Ledford was a member of Volunteer Baptist Church where he served as usher for many years. He was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class.
Mr. Ledford was preceded in death by one brother, Homer Ledford.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sharon Godsey Ledford of the home; two sons, Jerry Ledford and Chris Ledford, both of Lawndale, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Tina Buff and husband, Randy of Bristol, Tennessee; one grandson, Glen Buff; one special grandson, Gary Gammon; two brothers, M.L. Ledford of Newton, N.C., and Billy Ledford of Casar, N.C.; and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Keith Williams, The Rev. J.D. Neeley and Pastor Bobby Wheeler will officiate. Burial will follow graveside services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002, in Campground Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Billy R. Linkous
CLEVELAND, Va. - Billy Ray Linkous, 42, died Friday, June 7, 2002, in Russell County Medical Center.
Born May 15, 1960, a son of Vernie Ellen Barton Linkous and the late Ray Linkous, he was a 24-year employee of Pittston, currently working at the Roaring Fork Mine. He attended the Weaver's Creek Baptist Church and was a former member of the Cleveland Lifesaving Crew.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda and Wanda Linkous; and an uncle, Clayton Linkous.
Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Estella Musick Linkous; one daughter, Kerensa Rae Linkous of the home; his mother, Vernie Ellen Caudill and stepfather, Ed Caudill, Cleveland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Adam Joseph and Marlene Linkous, Cleveland and James Paul and Nancy Linkous, Lebanon; a special aunt, Mary Dale Moore, Cleveland; a special uncle, Billy Linkous, Fairfax, Va.; and a special cousin, Shauna Musick, Cleveland. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel in Lebanon with the Rev. Richard Smith and Mr. Burton Combs officiating. Entombment will follow in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum in Forest Hills Memory Gardens, Abingdon. CHESTER, S.C. - Bonnie McClellan, 91, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at the home of her daughter after a lingering illness.
She was born in Roan Mountain, Tenn., daughter of the late George and Sally Church Potter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan McClellan; two sons, Frank and Floyd McClellan; and one daughter, Florence Fields.
She is survived by three daughters, Bernice Fields and Goldie Phillips, of Dante, Va., and Victoria Blevins of Chester, S.C.; three sons, Victor McClellan of Castlewood, Earl McClellan of Port Clinton, Ohio, and Gene McClellan of Berlin Heights, Ohio; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Toy Allen Minga
KINGSPORT - Toy Allen Minga, 51, went to his heavenly home Sunday, June 9, 2002, after an extended illness.
Toy worked for Sullivan County for 27 years and was a scuba diver instructor for 10 years through the Scuba Center in Johnson City.
His father, Wash "Dump" Minga; grandparents, Toy F. and Ellen Minga and Buck and Grace Hill, preceded Toy in death.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Minga of the home; mother, Faye Minga, Blountville; sister, Genoa Minga, Altamonte Springs, Fla.; and two aunts, Genoa Stalcup, Bristol and Betty Sue Poe, Blountville.

POUND - Jerry Lynn Mullins, 46, died June 8, 2002, in Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.
Mr. Mullins was of the Baptist faith. He was a former employee of the Town of Pound. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman A. Mullins Sr. and Nola Hamilton Mullins; and uncle, Elmer (Jiggs) Mullins.

King D. Osborne
POUNDING MILL, Va. - Mr. King D. Osborne, 93, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2002, in a Richlands hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Buchanan County, Va., and was the son of the late Mack and Jenny Sawyers Osborne, both Buchanan County natives.
He had made his home in the Tazewell and Buchanan County areas all of his life and was a retired miner having worked 43 years in Virginia and West Virginia mines. He was a member of UMWA Local 7367 at Jewell Valley and was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was of the Apostolic faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Larry David Osborne; three sisters, Molly Webb, Catherine Powers and Tina Rasnake; and two brothers, Tom and Noah Osborne.
Survivors are: his wife of 66 years, Edith E. Johnson Osborne; five daughters, Mrs. Shelvie J. Crawford of Elyria, Ohio, Mrs. Devada A. Mutter and husband Darrell of Wardell, Va., Mrs. Sonja H. Minnick and husband Charles of Titusville, Fla., Miss Judy Ellen Osborne of Hillsville, Va., and Mrs. Deborah G. Elswick and husband, John Mark of Monroe, N.C.; two sons, Mr. Darry W. Osborne of Mitchell, Va., and Mr. Joe D. Osborne and wife Jean of Lee High Acres, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Messick of Cliffield, Va., and Mrs. Daisy Burke of Raven,Va.; three brothers, Mr. Robert Osborne of Raven, Mr. Elmer Osborne of Oak Hill, W.Va., and Mr. Tivis Osborne of Rosedale, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev. Carl Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Members of Casey-Shortt VFW Post 9640 and Tazewell County Chapter 31 DAV will conduct military graveside rites.
